Abstract

This study aimed to describe students’ school wellbeing and examine differences in school wellbeing based on gender among tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri Y Makassar. A quantitative approach with a descriptive-comparative design was employed. The participants consisted of 100 students selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using the School Wellbeing Scale developed based on the School Well-Being Model proposed by Konu and Rimpelä, encompassing four dimensions: having, loving, being, and health. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and an Independent Samples t-test. The findings revealed that the mean score of students’ school wellbeing was 78.45 (SD = 9.23), indicating a moderate to high level of wellbeing. This result suggests that most students perceived their school environment, social relationships, opportunities for self-development, and physical and psychological health positively. Furthermore, the Independent Samples t-test showed a significant difference in school wellbeing based on gender (t = -2.31, p = .023 < .05). Female students reported higher levels of school wellbeing than male students. These findings indicate that gender plays a role in shaping students’ wellbeing experiences within the school environment. Therefore, schools are encouraged to develop gender-responsive programs that address students’ academic, social, and emotional needs to enhance their overall wellbeing.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based Differentiated Learning model in improving student achievement and academic motivation in senior high schools in Makassar. Employing a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, the research involved students from several leading schools who were divided into experimental and control groups. The instruments used included achievement tests, academic motivation questions , and teacher competence observation sheets related to AI integration. The findings reveal that students in the experimental group who experienced AI-based differentiated learning achieved better posttest scores and higher academic motivation compared to those in the control group. Statistical analyzes confirmed significant differences between the two groups, while further examination indicated that teacher competence and student motivation play an essential role in shaping learning outcomes. These results highlight that the success of AI-based learning is not solely dependent on technology but is strongly influenced by teachers' ability to adapt and effectively utilize AI in differentiated learning contexts. The study underscores the importance of continuous professional development for teachers, the development of contextually relevant teaching modules, and adequate digital infrastructure support. Furthermore, this research provides empirical contributions to the advancement of adaptive and technology-based learning in Indonesia, with implications for both policy and practice.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in Sociology class X at MAN 1 Trenggalek, which is indicated by the suboptimal achievement of cognitive competencies, low student participation in learning, and the dominant use of conventional methods. The Course Review Horay (CRH) learning model was chosen as an alternative to cooperative learning that emphasizes active involvement, a pleasant learning atmosphere, and strengthening conceptual understanding through material review activities. The purpose of this study is to analyze the differences in learning outcomes of students who take part in learning using the CRH model and students who learn using conventional methods, and to describe student responses to the application of the model. The study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. The research sample was determined through a purposive sampling technique with class XG as the experimental class and class XB as the control class. Data collection was carried out through pre-tests, post-tests, and questionnaires. Data analysis used the Independent Samples T-Test. The results showed a significant difference between student learning outcomes in the experimental class and the control class. The calculated t value of 5.328 is greater than the t table of 2.002 with a significance of 0.000 (p < 0.05). The Mean Difference value is 11.159 and the difference in N-Gain effectiveness reaches 28.89%. Student responses to the application of the CRH model are in the very high category with a percentage of 82.32%. These findings indicate that the Course Review Horay learning model has a positive effect on the Sociology learning outcomes of class X students of MAN 1 Trenggalek.

Abstract

Digital literacy has become one of the essential competencies that students must possess to face the challenges of 21st-century education. In the context of learning English as a Foreign Language (EFL), the integration of digital literacy not only supports the development of language skills but also enhances students' ability to access, evaluate, and utilize information effectively through digital media. This study aims to analyze the integration of digital literacy in high school EFL textbooks and examine the use of the ReadTheory platform as a supporting medium for digital-based reading learning. The study used a qualitative approach with a content analysis method for reading materials, learning activities, and assignments contained in the EFL textbooks. Data were analyzed based on digital literacy indicators, which include the ability to access information, evaluate information sources, communicate digitally, create digital content, and utilize technology in the learning process. The results show that elements of digital literacy have been integrated into several learning activities, such as searching for information via the internet, using digital media, and utilizing online learning resources. However, this integration still tends to be limited to the use of technology as a means of obtaining information and has not optimally developed the ability to evaluate information, think critically, and produce digital content. Furthermore, ReadTheory has proven potential in supporting EFL learning by providing adaptive reading, automated feedback, and activities that foster students' reading and digital literacy skills. The development of more comprehensive EFL textbooks that integrate digital literacy aspects is needed to support learning relevant to the needs of the digital age and improve students' readiness to face global challenges.
