Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of lifelong education in promoting successful aging through older adults’ participation in learning activities that contribute to cognitive, psychological, and social well-being. This research employs a library research approach using content analysis techniques of reputable scientific literature, including empirical studies, meta-analyses, systematic reviews, and conceptual frameworks related to older adult education and successful aging. The synthesis of findings indicates that older adults’ participation in lifelong learning is positively associated with enhanced cognitive functioning through the mechanism of cognitive reserve, which helps maintain mental capacity and reduce the risk of cognitive decline. Furthermore, engagement in educational activities improves psychological well-being, as reflected in increased life meaning, self-esteem, and reduced feelings of loneliness. From a social perspective, lifelong learning strengthens social interaction, community integration, and reduces social isolation among older adults. The findings also highlight that programs such as Universities of the Third Age (U3A) serve as effective models for supporting active and productive aging. Thus, lifelong education is positioned as a crucial protective and promotive factor in achieving holistic successful aging. This study emphasizes the importance of inclusive educational policies for older adults to enhance quality of life in later years.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the widespread use of code-mixing in digital communication, particularly in podcast content on YouTube. This phenomenon indicates the use of two or more languages in a single utterance, influenced by the speaker's bilingual abilities. This study aims to describe the forms, causal factors, and functions of code-mixing in Denny Sumargo's podcast with Raline Shah and Dilan Janiyar. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The research population consists of all utterances in Denny Sumargo's podcast, while the research sample consists of utterances containing code-mixing in two podcast episodes. The research instrument was the researcher himself with the help of free listening and note-taking techniques. Data were analyzed using the matching method with the connecting and comparing and differentiating technique. The results of the study indicate two forms of code-mixing: internal code-mixing and external code-mixing. The main factor causing code-mixing is the identification of language varieties in relaxed and informal situations. The functions of code-mixing include emphasizing meaning, familiarizing the conversational situation, and adjusting the topic of conversation. The conclusion of this study shows that code-mixing in podcasts is a form of bilingual communication strategy that reflects social identity and modern communication styles in digital media.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the Giving Question and Getting Answer (GQGA) learning model on students’ learning outcomes in the IPAS subject among fourth-grade students at UPTD SD Negeri 122348 Pematangsiantar in the 2025/2026 academic year. The study employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest–posttest design. The research sample consisted of 24 fourth-grade students selected through a saturated sampling technique. The research instrument used was a multiple-choice test designed to measure students’ cognitive learning outcomes. Data were analyzed using the N-Gain test to determine the effectiveness of the learning model. The results showed that the average N-Gain score was 0.7133, with an average percentage of 71.33%, which falls into the high-effectiveness category. These findings indicate that the implementation of the GQGA learning model has a significant positive effect on improving students’ learning outcomes in IPAS. The model encourages active student participation through questioning and answering activities, which enhances understanding, critical thinking, and classroom engagement. Students become more involved in the learning process, rather than passively receiving information from the teacher. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Giving Question and Getting Answer (GQGA) learning model is effective in improving IPAS learning outcomes for fourth-grade students at UPTD SD Negeri 122348 Pematangsiantar. This model can be recommended as an alternative interactive learning strategy to enhance student achievement in elementary education.
