Abstract

This community service activity was conducted in Dusun Nglengis through the Community Service Program under the guidance of one field supervisor and involved ten students. The activity aimed to support the community through business strengthening, home yard utilization, assistance in Quran learning activities, and support for posyandu services. The method used was Participatory Action Research through observation, joint planning with residents, program implementation, and evaluation. The participants included four small business owners, nine housewives managing home yards, fourteen active Quran learning students, and three posyandu cadres. The results showed that all targeted small businesses were successfully registered on Google Maps and provided with business banners, two simple planting models using used gallon containers were created, attendance in Quran learning activities increased from an average of eight to fourteen children per meeting, and posyandu services became more organized. This activity shows that simple programs designed from community needs can help strengthen the social and economic capacity of local residents.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance the investigative journalism literacy of UIN Walisongo Semarang students through a Bincang Jurnalistik activity entitled “Learning Investigative Reporting”. The program was motivated by the need for students to develop critical analysis skills, the ability to filter information, and the competence to write accurate and data-based investigative news in the midst of the rapid digital information flow. The implementation method consisted of four stages: orientation and introduction, delivery of investigative journalism material, writing practice, and evaluation and reflection. The activity was held on November 25, 2024, at UIN Walisongo Campus 1 and was attended by 40 students from various study programs. The results showed an improvement in students’ understanding of investigative journalism principles, including the application of 5W+1H, data verification, and ethical considerations. During the practice session, most participants were able to produce simple investigative news articles that included facts, sources, and critical analysis, although some weaknesses in writing structure remained. Evaluation indicated that 85% of participants found the program beneficial and expressed motivation to continue developing their investigative skills. Therefore, this community service initiative contributed to shaping students to become more critical, media literate, and practically skilled in investigative journalism, while also strengthening the role of higher education in promoting media literacy in the digital era.

Abstract

Functional decline and limited access to health services in rural areas are contributing factors to the low quality of life of the elderly. This community service program aims to improve the quality of life of the elderly through the implementation of community-based Activity Daily Living (ADL) fulfillment activities. The method used is the Community Based Research (CBR) approach which includes four stages: laying the foundation, planning, information gathering and analysis, and acting on finding. The activity was implemented through participatory education with interactive lecture techniques and practical simulations involving 100 elderly in Karangwerdha Ledokombo, Jember. The program evaluation was conducted using a knowledge questionnaire on quality of life through a pre-test and post-test mechanism. The results of the activity showed an increase in the quality of life of participants as indicated by an increase in the average score from 59.68 in the pre-test to 74.23 in the post-test. This increase was supported by the high participation of elderly in activities and the presence of social support from the surrounding environment. This activity concluded that community-based interventions through the fulfillment of ADL activities are effective in improving the quality of life of the elderly. Strengthening family and social support on an ongoing basis is needed to support the realization of healthy, independent, and productive elderly.

Abstract

Desa Kauman, Kecamatan Juwana, Kabupaten Pati merupakan desa multikultural yang dihuni oleh masyarakat dari berbagai etnis (Jawa dan Tionghoa) dan agama (Islam, Buddha, Kristen, Katolik). Desa ini telah ditetapkan sebagai Kampung Pancasila terbaik se-Jawa Tengah dan Desa Wisata sejak Juli 2024. Meskipun demikian, potensi kebhinekaan tersebut perlu terus diperkuat melalui program pemberdayaan yang sistematis dan berbasis aset komunitas. Artikel ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis program penguatan kebhinekaan melalui seni budaya dan dialog lintas agama yang dilaksanakan oleh Kelompok KKN 22 "Daksa Abisatya" IPMAFA Pati selama 45 hari (1 Agustus–14 September 2024). Metode yang digunakan adalah ABCD (Asset-Based Community Development) dengan tahapan Discovery, Dream, Design, dan Destiny. Program utama yang dilaksanakan meliputi: Lomba Fashion Show Pakaian Adat Nusantara, Gebyar Karya Seni Kebhinekaan (Melukis OTS lintas agama), Dialog Lintas Agama, dan Peresmian Rumah Kebhinekaan. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan berbasis seni budaya dan dialog terbuka efektif memperkuat toleransi, kohesi sosial, dan identitas kebhinekaan masyarakat. Program ini mendapat respons positif dari seluruh elemen masyarakat dan berkontribusi pada penguatan modal sosial Desa Kauman sebagai desa wisata berbasis kebhinekaan. Kata Kunci: kebhinekaan, toleransi beragama, seni budaya, dialog lintas agama, ABCD Abstract: Kauman Village, Juwana District, Pati Regency is a multicultural village inhabited by people of various ethnicities (Javanese and Chinese) and religions (Islam, Buddhism, Christianity, Catholicism). The village has been designated as the Best Pancasila Village in Central Java and a Tourist Village since July 2024. Nevertheless, its plurality potential needs to be continuously strengthened through systematic asset-based community empowerment programs. This article aims to describe and analyze plurality-strengthening programs through cultural arts and interfaith dialogue implemented by KKN Group 22 "Daksa Abisatya" IPMAFA Pati during a 45-day period (August 1–September 14, 2024). The method used is ABCD (Asset-Based Community Development) with Discovery, Dream, Design, and Destiny stages. The main programs included: a Traditional Costume Fashion Show Competition, an Inter-religious Art Festival (On-the-Spot Painting), Interfaith Dialogue, and the Inauguration of the House of Plurality (Rumah Kebhinekaan). The results show that a cultural arts-based and open dialogue approach is effective in strengthening tolerance, social cohesion, and pluralistic identity. These programs received positive responses from all community elements and contributed to strengthening the social capital of Kauman Village as a plurality-based tourist village. Abstract

Early Childhood Education (ECE) teachers play a strategic role in creating learning environments that support children's optimal development. However, learning practices that focus primarily on academic achievement often limit opportunities for children to experience meaningful and enjoyable learning. This Community Service Program aimed to enhance ECE teachers’ competencies in designing and implementing mindful, meaningful, and joyful learning. The program involved ECE teachers from various institutions in Pati Regency and was conducted through training sessions, mentoring, group discussions, and practical lesson-planning activities. The implementation stages included needs assessment, material delivery, learning design workshops, and program evaluation. The results indicated an improvement in teachers’ understanding of child-centered learning, the application of mindfulness in educational interactions, strategies for creating meaningful learning experiences, and techniques for fostering joyful learning environments. Furthermore, participants demonstrated the ability to develop more creative, contextual, and developmentally appropriate learning plans. The program contributed positively to the enhancement of teachers’ professional competencies and supported the implementation of higher-quality learning practices in ECE settings. Therefore, continuous training and mentoring are recommended to strengthen the sustainable application of mindful, meaningful, and joyful learning in early childhood education institutions.
