This paper examines the religious issues represented in secular media. Secularism has been regarded unavoidable since the development of science and technology and in line with positivistic idea. However, since the second half of the 20th century, sociologists of religion have argued that secularism is no longer relevant due to the insurgence of religions and religious institutions around the world. In particular, this paper discusses how Solopos –a newspaper in Surakarta- publishes articles related to the topics of religion. The research finds that even though Solopos is a secular media, it still publishes articles on religious issues. There is no specific policy regarding this publication, but it represents the contexts of the society that still regard religion as an important part of their life. Based on the research, this paper concludes that secularism has failed both in the public space such as media and in the mindset of the people of Surakarta.

This study aims to understand the communication strategies of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) in overcoming culture shock while working in Japan. The research utilizes Anxiety Uncertainty Management Theory (AUM Theory) developed by Gudykunst to explain how PMI manage uncertainty and anxiety in cross-cultural communication. The AUM theory is elaborated with the concept of ABC's of Culture Shock by Ward Bochner and Furham to gain a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between cross-cultural communication and culture shock. The research method used is phenomenology. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with six PMI informants who have been working for at least two years in various companies in Japan. The results of the study show that PMI experience various forms of anxiety, including language anxiety, habit-related anxiety, and mindset-related anxiety. Workers manage this anxiety through three strategies: active, passive, and interactive. The active strategy involves continuously adapting to and appreciating Japanese culture. Firstly, the active strategy means that PMI actively seek information about Japanese culture through social media and study it. Secondly, the passive strategy involves self-motivation by understanding that the cultural surprises experienced are a consequence of their work. Lastly, the interactive strategy involves efforts to improve intercultural communication skills by joining Indonesian expatriate communities in Japan and being open to new values encountered while working in Japan.

The research aimed to assess the extent of social media adoption for internal communication, identify the platforms predominantly used, and evaluate their impact on communication efficacy within organizations Qualitative research methodology was adopted to capture a comprehensive view of social media usage in three organizations. Data were gathered through face-to-face interviews and focus group discussions with 48 participants, purposively sampled, employing thematic analysis to distill the insights. This research examines how Republika Online and Kompas.com frame the naturalized players of the Indonesian national team through text analysis. The phenomenon of player naturalization has become a controversial issue in Indonesian society along with PSSI's policy of massively recruiting players of Indonesian descent to strengthen the national team. This research employs a qualitative approach using the Zhongdang Pan & Gerald M. Kosicki framing analysis model. The study reveals that both Republika Online and Kompas.com frame the coverage of Indonesian national team's naturalized players positively. However, the difference lies in Republika Online's use of assertive editorial content, while Kompas.com reports the momentum comprehensively and straightforwardly, without using the editorial term "naturalized players."

The 2024 Jakarta Regional Election (Pilkada) was marked by intense competition. One gubernatorial candidate pair, supported by only two political parties, emerged victorious over a rival pair backed by 16 parties. Another candidate pair also contested the election independently. The candidates competed fiercely to build strong political branding—not only through traditional campaigns but also by utilizing social media platforms such as Instagram and YouTube. This descriptive research explores how the candidate pairs developed their political branding and why it contributed to electoral success. Findings reveal that each pair shaped their brand based on personality, competencies, values, and the public image they intended to project. The winning pair, Pramono Anung and Rano Karno, owed their success to effective branding strategies involving self-identification, political product development, and strategic positioning. Their strong and consistent branding approach helped them connect with voters and ultimately secure victory in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada.

Effective communication is a fundamental aspect of human interaction, impacting personal relationships, academic engagement, and professional success. In psychology education, it is crucial to equip students not only with theoretical knowledge but also with practical communication strategies that are adaptable to various cultural and social contexts. This study explores how undergraduate psychology students perceive the role of communication in their personal, academic, and future professional lives, as well as the impact of a semester-long course titled "Communication in Psychology" on their skill development. A total of 29 students from the University of American College Skopje participated in the research, reflecting on their experiences through open-ended survey questions after completing the course. Qualitative content analysis was used to identify recurring themes in their responses. The findings suggest that students perceive communication as crucial for fostering empathy, articulating ideas effectively, and avoiding misunderstandings. They reported improvements in active listening, interpreting nonverbal cues, and engaging in culturally sensitive dialogue. Practical exercises, such as role-playing and mock interviews, were efficient in helping students internalize key concepts. Students also highlighted the importance of patience, empathy, and creating nonjudgmental environments to foster meaningful interactions. This study highlights the importance of communication-focused training within the psychology curriculum, underscoring its transformative impact on enhancing self-awareness, intercultural competence, and interpersonal effectiveness—all essential skills for future professionals working in complex, multicultural environments.
