Abstract

The use of gadgets has become an integral part of daily life for elementary school children. This study aims to examine the impact of gadget usage on visual acuity among Grade 6A students at SD Negeri 149 Pekanbaru. The research was conducted from July 22 to 24, 2024, using a quantitative descriptive approach. A total of 39 students were selected through total sampling. Data were collected via questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics with percentage formulas. The findings revealed that 87% of students used gadgets for extended periods, 82% used gadgets while lying down or prone, and 74% frequently watched television. In contrast, only 15% of students wore glasses as a corrective measure, and none used contact lenses. Most students relied on nutritious food consumption, such as fruits and vegetables (92%), to maintain eye health. The study concludes that gadget usage contributes to a decline in visual acuity, and this behavior warrants special attention from schools, parents, and healthcare professionals.

Abstract

The construction of the Integrated Business Service Center for Cooperatives and micro small and medium enterprises in Pasuruan City is a strategic step by the government in supporting micro small and medium enterprises. However, the project was halted for five years due to a corruption case, causing the building to be abandoned and causing state budget losses. From this background, The application of the Value Engineering method can help identify alternative architectural and material work in the continuation project of the PLUT Building construction and cost savings that can be achieved through the application of the Value Engineering method in the project.. The objectives of the research are to analyze the application of the Value Engineering method in determining alternative work and more economical material replacement without reducing the function and quality of the project, and Calculating the potential cost savings that can be obtained through the application of the Value Engineering method in the continuation project of the PLUT Building construction. The research used is empirical juridical using secondary data analysis such as the Cost Budget Plan and Work Unit Price Analysis. The analysis was carried out through systematic stages of Value Engineering, starting from the information stage (Pareto analysis and Breakdown Cost Model), creative stage, analysis, to the cost comparison recommendation stage. The results of this study indicate that the abandonment of the project from 2018 to 2025 resulted in cost escalation due to inflation of Rp 321,067,459 and asset depreciation of Rp 219,581,300. The application of Value Engineering resulted in more efficient material alternatives, such as the use of 3” aluminum frames and gypsum boards for ceilings. This recommendation succeeded in reducing the cost of architectural work to Rp. 622,155,307.53. Savings of Rp. 4,647,795.87 or 0.74% proves that Value Engineering can provide efficient technical solutions and is feasible to be applied to government construction projects.

Abstract

Urban growth often leads to increased traffic, especially in economic and social hubs. In Jombang Regency, Jalan KH. Ahmad Dahlan and Jalan Gubernur Suryo are two busy roads affected by the 2024 development of “Kuliner Jombang,” located between them, with the former serving as the main entrance and the latter as the exit. This study, based on the Indonesian Road Capacity Manual (PKJI 2023), examines traffic volume, degree of saturation, and road performance before and after the development. Field surveys recorded peak volumes of 6,027 veh/hour on Jalan KH. Ahmad Dahlan and 4,116 veh/hour on Jalan Gubernur Suryo. Saturation levels rose from 0.59 to 0.95 and 0.61 to 0.98, respectively. The results show a significant impact, with a 62% increase on Jalan KH. Ahmad Dahlan and 61% on Jalan Gubernur Suryo, indicating reduced road performance and potential congestion growth in the future.

Abstract

Code 12 on the first 2016-2019 Yamaha Aerox motorbike could indicate a problem with the throttle position sensor or the cables connected to it. If the code 12 condition continues to flash without being addressed, engine performance problems will arise which can affect throttle response and fuel efficiency. The research was carried out at the Yamaha Mataram Sakti Serang Dealer workshop with the aim of taking corrective action on the causes of the frequent appearance of code 12 on Yamaha Aerox motorbikes released in the 2016-2019 edition. The research method uses qualitative research with a case study type of research. The results and discussion show data that the diagnosis of code 12 and the corrective action taken can be in the form of a jump start technique on cables without sockets to normalize currents whose distribution is unbalanced. Meanwhile, the preventive action that must be taken is to pay attention to the magnetic current on the spool and socket cable so as not to trigger error code 12 by means of regular maintenance and service on the spool and socket. However, code 12 that appears on 2016-2019 Yamaha Aerox motorbikes and is left untreated will result in further damage to engine performance.
