Abstract

This research work was conducted in order to determine the Prospects for Investigative Reporting in Private Media outlets in Bauchi and Jos. The objective of the study was to find out whether the two private radio stations (Unity FM, Albarka Radio) in Jos and Bauchi do practice Investigative Journalism. A qualitative, cross-sectional survey was employed for the study. In-depth interview was used as means of data collection from a purposively sample of six radio journalists, consisting of two editor and four reporters. Following from the social responsibility and surveillance theoretical discourse, findings revealed that both the radio stations in Jos and Bauchi do practice Investigative Journalism and are also training young minds on the beat. This research work recommends that the practical aspect of the course should receive more attention than the theoretical part in tertiary institutions, there should be constant training, retraining and retraining staff in each media organization and also adequate budgets of funds should be put into considerations by the management of any media organization.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a loan eligibility determination system at the Bukit Indah Cooperative in Batunya Village using the fuzzy sugeno method. The Bukit Indah Cooperative is a savings and business cooperative run independently by the Batunya Village community and carries out efforts for the welfare of the Batunya Village community. Fuzzy Sugeno is one of the fuzzy logic methods used for modeling, control and decision making. Fuzzy Sugeno was developed by Takagi, Sugeno, and Kang in 1985, this method aims to provide more efficient results in the control and decision making system. The research method used in this study is the waterfall method. This study has succeeded in developing and producing a system used to help the Bukit Indah Cooperative in Batunya Village to determine the eligibility of providing loans to customers. In testing the feasibility of the system with 20 sample data, it was found that out of 20 sample data, there were 18 correct data in the system, data comparison was carried out by comparing the data from the evaluation of calculations by cooperative officers with the data produced by the system which produced an accuracy level of 90.00%. Based on these results, it was found that the system developed can be said to work well and is considered sufficient to test the accuracy of the fuzzy Sugeno method.

Abstract

This research paper explores the multifaceted impact of technology on family dynamic patterns, focusing on how digital advancements have reshaped communication, relationships, and interactions within families. The study identifies both positive and negative influences of technology. Technology facilitates and enhances communication through social media and instant messaging, offering families the ability to connect across distances. It can reduce face-to-face interactions; lead to an increase dependence on technology usage. This research will examine the impact of technology on family communication. The study will employ a method of quantitative survey method to assess the integration of technology among different families alongside its variance across different family structures and socioeconomic statuses. The findings suggest that while technology presents challenges to traditional family dynamics, it also offers opportunities for growth and adaptation. The paper concludes with recommendations for families and policymakers to navigate the evolving digital landscape, emphasizing the need for balance and mindful usage of technology to support healthy family relationships.

Abstract

This study investigates the integration of renewable energy sources (RES) into Nigeria’s power systems to enhance operational efficiency. Nigeria’s power sector has long been plagued by challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, frequent outages, and an inability to meet energy demands. The integration of renewable energy, particularly solar and wind, offers a potential solution to improve the reliability and efficiency of the national grid. A descriptive survey research design was adopted, with data collected from key stakeholders in the power sector, including administrators, technical experts, and energy consumers. The study revealed that the integration of RES, supported by technological innovations such as smart grids and energy storage systems, can significantly improve operational efficiency. However, barriers such as insufficient funding, regulatory hurdles, and public acceptance were identified as key challenges. The study concludes that modernizing infrastructure, fostering technological innovation, and developing supportive regulatory frameworks are crucial for the successful integration of RES into Nigeria’s power systems. The findings provide insights for policymakers and industry stakeholders to drive Nigeria’s energy transition toward a more sustainable and efficient future.
