Abstract

This research aims to optimize the capabilities of a slow learner student through behavior modification intervention using positive and negative reinforcement. The research subject is R, a 16-year-old eighth-grade MTs student with an IQ score of 81 (Wechsler scale), which falls in the below-average category and exhibits slow learner characteristics. The research method employs a Single Subject Research (SSR) design with repeated measurements of behavioral changes conducted over a two-week period. The results show significant changes in the subject's behavior after intervention, including: reduction in negligent behavior during pre-school activities, decreased tendency to ignore parental instructions to study, elimination of tardiness at school, and cessation of lying down during learning processes. The cooperative attitude of the subject, parents, and teachers became an important factor in the success of this intervention. This research contributes to understanding the effectiveness of behavior modification in addressing disciplinary problems in slow learner students through a structured and consistent individual approach

Abstract

Kepungan Sialang is a forest area containing one or more sialang tree species. The existence of sialang trees and forest bees A. dorsata is closely related to the condition of forest cover and the type of flowering plants found around the beehive. This study aims to explain the meaning and characteristics of sialang trees and the types of sialang trees which are one of the local wisdom of the Rantau Baru Village community. This research was conducted in September 2021 in Rantau Baru Village, Pangkalan Kerinci District, Pelalawan Regency. The methods used in this research are field observations, interviews with traditional leaders of Rantau Baru Village and literature studies. The results obtained from this study are that sialang trees have characteristics, that generally having a tall trunk even reaching 40 m, wide and open crowns, sympodial branching and small to medium leaves. There are only two types of sialang trees found in Rantau Baru Village, namely Rengas Tree (Gluta renghas Linn) from the Anacardiaceae family and Cubadak Air (Parartocarpus triandus) from the Moraceae family. There are nine trees species that make up Kepungan Sialang in Rantau Baru Village including Sterculia gilva Mig., Pentace triptera Mast., Palaquium spp., Barringtonia spicata Bl., Cratoxylum arborescens, Flacourtia rukam, Pangium edule, Dillenia indica and Dysoxylum alliaceum (Blume). The Menumbai or honey harvesting process consists of the initial survey, preparation and implementation of the Menumbai process which involves the upper jagan or juragan as the harvester and the lower jagan as the honey catcher below. As one of the efforts to maintain the wisdom of Kepungan Sialang, Riau Malay Customary Institution (LAMR) of Pelalawan Regency has issued a Fatwa regarding the prohibition of cutting down sialang trees and its sanctions.

Abstract

Waste management is a serious challenge in urban areas, including Pekanbaru City, which produces more than 800 tons of waste daily. Trans Dipo, as a Temporary Storage Site (TPS), plays a crucial role in the waste management chain, yet it still faces various technical and community participation challenges. This study aims to determine waste management at Trans Dipo, Pekanbaru City, in 2025, specifically in the aspects of sorting, collection, and transportation. The research method used a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Primary data was obtained through direct observation and in-depth interviews with supervisors, Trans Dipo officers, and officials from the Pekanbaru City Environment and Sanitation Agency. Secondary data was obtained from official documents from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions through source triangulation. The results indicate that waste sorting is not optimal because residents still mix organic and inorganic waste, while sorting efforts are carried out only by waste banks. Waste collection is routinely carried out 3–4 times a week, but is still hampered by irregular fees and a lack of community discipline. Transportation from the TPS (landfill) to the TPA (landfill) is carried out daily by dump trucks or Colt Diesel trucks, but fleet limitations and vehicle breakdowns often cause delays, resulting in waste accumulation at the TPS. Overall, waste management at the Trans Dipo in Pekanbaru City is ineffective due to limited infrastructure, low public awareness, and operational constraints. Improvements are needed, including the provision of sorting facilities, additional collection vehicles, and ongoing education to ensure a more optimal and environmentally friendly waste management system

Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of optimal role of parents in providing role models or examples for children regarding worship. The lack of role models from parents makes the internalization of the values of Islamic religious education in children less than optimal. This article aims to describe the strategies of parents, especially those from abangan backgrounds, in internalizing the values of Islamic religious education in children in Bukur Village, Pekalongan Regency and what are the supporting and inhibiting factors. This article was prepared using a qualitative approach with a case study type supported by data collection techniques using interviews and observation. Data analysis techniques used are in the form of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. From the results of the study, a description was obtained that there are three values of Islamic religious education taught to children, namely education of faith, morals and worship. In religious education, parents' strategy is to teach children the pillars of faith with the help of non-formal institutions such as madrasas in teaching it. In religious education, parents' strategy is to order and remind children to pray and recite the Koran, teach children to fast, and invite children to pay zakat. In moral education, parents will reprimand and advise children to always maintain good manners in behaving and speaking. The supporting factors in the abangan parents' strategy are the social environment and adequate facilities and the inhibiting factors are the parents' lack of understanding of religious knowledge, lack of parental attention, and the presence of laziness in children.

Abstract

The destruction of the mangrove ecosystem in Purnama Village is a cause for concern among the community, especially in Purnama Village. Efforts to preserve mangroves with community involvement are needed. The active participation of group members such as the ‘Mastali Madu’ group is very important in the implementation of mangrove conservation activities. This study aims to analyse the forms of participation, supporting and inhibiting factors, and the impacts felt by members of ‘Mastali Madu’ when involved in mangrove conservation. This study was conducted in Purnama Village, using qualitative methods with a phenomenological approach, which involved observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that the forms of participation of Mastali Madu group members in mangrove conservation are classified as active, especially in expressing opinions and carrying out activities. The supporting factors for participation are the availability of opportunities, willingness, and ability. The inhibiting factors include economic factors and a lack of training and support. The impact of member participation is positive, such as increased knowledge and awareness of mangrove conservation, but there are also negative impacts in the form of increased workload and social conflicts

Abstract

The intensive use of chemical herbicides in agriculture has caused serious impacts on the environment, human health and ecosystem sustainability. These impacts include soil, water, and air pollution, as well as health risks due to exposure to hazardous active ingredients. As a solution, this study examines the potential of ketapang (Terminalia catappa L.) leaf extract as an environmentally friendly organic herbicide. The content of allelochemical compounds in ketapang leaves is proven to effectively inhibit weed growth, and is safer and more economical than synthetic herbicides. Thus, ketapang extract herbicide is considered to have high prospects as an alternative weed control that supports sustainable agriculture. This study aims to identify the optimal formulation and concentration of natural herbicides of ketapang leaf extract in suppressing weed growth, analysing the percentage of live, height, number of shoots, wet weight, and dry weight of weeds. The research was conducted at UNRI Gobah Campus and the author's house in Pekanbaru. The environmental aspects used 4 x 2 factorial RAL with 3 replications, factors of herbicide concentration (Gramoxone, ketapang extract 25%, 50%, 75%) and weed species (Cynodon dactylon L. and Cyperus rotundus). Data were analysed with variance analysis and 5% Duncan test. The results showed that the 75% concentration of ketapang leaf extract herbicide was effective in suppressing weed growth and could replace chemical herbicides still used by farmers, although the effect was not as fast as chemical herbicides in killing weeds. Especially on the percentage of live weeds, weed height, and weed species. The interaction between ketapang leaf extract herbicide and weed type was effective in suppressing weed growth but not on wet weight and dry weight of weeds. The use of ketapang leaf extract is more recommended because it can be used as an alternative to replace the use of chemical herbicides that are environmentally friendly and safe for health

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of plastic waste pollution on the environment and its mitigation efforts in Pekanbaru. This study was conducted using qualitative methods supported by reference sources and literature, both books, research results and national and international scientific journals. From the results of this study, it was found that plastic waste can have a very large impact on the environment. Even plastic materials that enter the environment as plastic waste will not be decomposed in the near future. The types of plastic waste in the form of filaments that are commonly found from observations are plastic bags, used plastic bottles for drinks, plastic wrappers and food and beverage packaging and sachet waste. When ingested by humans through fish, shellfish, and water, the toxic pollutant materials will move into the human body and cause hormonal disturbances. The mitigation efforts that can be done include prioritizing waste management, especially plastic waste through efforts to encourage the Pekanbaru City government to control water and land pollution by prioritizing controlling the use of single-use plastics and handling plastic waste. Then the need for efforts to support the sorting and processing of organic waste. Plastic waste is also used for handicrafts and others which are hygienic and have economic value and are beneficial to the community. This is a kind of sustainable environmental management
