Abstract

The waters of Ambon Rumahtiga and Galala-Hative Kecil are part of the waters of Ambon Bay which connects Outer Ambon Bay (TAL) and Inner Ambon Bay (TAD). The characteristics of the waters are influenced by the tides and the input of fresh water which flows into the surrounding waters. This research aims to analyze front events both horizontally and vertically based on the distribution of temperature, salinity and water density. The research was conducted in August 2023 at 9 observation stations. Temperature, salinity and density measurements were carried out in-situ using a CTD (CTD type), and analysis of the vertical and horizontal distribution of temperature, salinity and density using ODV software version 5.6.2 and Surfer 12. Front analysis used a quantitative discrete method approach by comparing differences in temperature, salinity and density characteristics. The research results show that a front is formed on the water surface to a depth of 5 m between the water mass moving from TAD (Station 8) with a temperature of 26.16-26.58 oC, salinity of 30.98-33.37 Psu and sigma-t of 19.92 -21.64 Kg/m3 and water mass from TAL (Station 5) with a characteristic temperature of 25.97 oC, salinity of 33.03-34.22 Psu and sigma-t of 21.47-22.47 Kg/m3. Front events also occur between water masses with temperature characteristics of 26.17-26.32 oC, salinity 34.12-34.32 Psu, sigma-t 21.66-22.30 Kg/m3 (Station 6) with water masses with temperature characteristics 26.43-26.41oC, salinity 33.37-34.22 Psu and sigma-t 21.66-22.42 Kg/m3 (Station 9). Tidal currents and freshwater input that flows from the Wairuhu River are the causes of fronts.

Abstract

Mega Gastropods play an important role in the food chain in bottom waters. Mega Gastropods are associated with seagrass beds which have sand and sandy mud bottom substrates. The aim of the research is to determine the association of Mega Gastropods in monospecific seagrass beds as their habitat. This research was carried out from October 2023 - February 2024 in the seagrass beds of Badak Badak Island. The station is divided into 3 stations and each station is divided into 3 zones. Seagrass and Mega Gastropod samples were taken using a 50x50cm quadrant frame. The relationship between seagrass density and Mega Gastropod density was used by the Pearson's Product Moment correlation test and the distribution of basic substrate fractions and the distribution of Mega Gastropod species was used by Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Corespondence Analysis (CA). The Mega Gastropods found consisted of L. turturella, C. tigris, P aluco, and T. telescopium. The relationship between Mega Gastropod density and E. acoroides density was not positively correlated and the presence of Mega Gastropod species was associated with the characteristics of the basic substrate fraction.

Abstract

The use of antibiotics can be used to kill harmful microorganisms, but uncontrolled use will have a negative effect on the body's defense system and the balance of important microorganisms and often give rise to more virulent pathogenic strains (Tumbol & Undap, 2016). One of the alternative efforts that can be made to increase the growth of tilapia is by adding probiotics to feed. Therefore, recent developments in cultivation businesses have developed the use of probiotics as a solution to abandon the use of chemicals and antibiotics. Because the use of probiotics in cultivation can maintain microbial balance and control phatogens in the digestive tract (Mansur & Tangko, 2008). Probiotics are living microorganisms that are very beneficial for living creatures, one of which is fish. The microorganisms contained in probiotics are able to help the digestion of food in the bodies of animals and humans so that food containing probiotics will be able to be digested and absorbed by the body properly. This research method is a description method using tables and graphs and the data obtained is analyzed using statistical tests to see real differences. The results of the research show that the addition of probiotics and molasses can have a significant effect on growth where the probiotics are completely absorbed in the feed so that they can improve the performance of the microflora in the digestive tract and help the food digestion process and stimulate increased nutrient absorption to support fish growth, while the treatment of providing probiotics and molasses in Feed did not have a significant effect on tilapia survival. After Tukey's test, it was discovered that there was no significant difference between treatments and tilapia survival during the study.

Abstract

Addition of Sargassum sp. into feed as a feed supplement is one effort that can be done to increase fish growth and immunity. This research aims to determine the effect of adding bioactive compounds from Sargassum sp. extract in feed on the health picture of Siamese catfish through structural changes that occur in the intestines and liver. Fish observations were carried out for 40 days. The results obtained regarding the survival rate (SR) value of Siamese catfish seeds show that there is no difference or has the same percentage, namely 100%. The results of observations on the histopathology of intestinal organs analyzed in a comparative descriptive manner showed that Siamese catfish fry were fed with Sargassum sp. extract experienced damage than fish seeds fed without the addition of Sargassum sp. extract (control). The damage that occurs includes leukocyte infiltration (IfL), necrosis (Ne), goblet cell proliferation (Psg), hyperplasia (Hpl), and hemorrhage, with a damage score analyzed using the semiquantitative scoring method, namely 1. Damage to the liver, namely experiencing congestion in the blood vessels.
