Abstract

Providing knowledge about nutritious food to young children is an essential step in shaping healthy eating habits and supporting their optimal growth and development. This community service activity aimed to enhance the understanding of students at TK A Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal Bolihuangga, Gorontalo Regency, regarding the principles of balanced nutrition through engaging learning methods appropriate to their developmental stage. The program was implemented on October 14, 2025, involving 17 students, and utilized several approaches, including material delivery, educational video presentations, and interactive games that required students to sort nutritious and non-nutritious foods. The results showed that children became more capable of identifying healthy food types, actively participated in all activities, and demonstrated improved comprehension through visual and motor-based tasks. The learning-through-play approach proved effective in increasing students’ enthusiasm and fostering positive behaviors related to food choices. Overall, this activity provided an enjoyable and meaningful nutrition education experience that has the potential to support children’s health and learning abilities in the future.

The method used is Participatory Action Research (PAR) thru five main stages: preparation, product design, training, mentoring, and evaluation. The results of the activity show that training on processing banana heart into garo rica meat was able to increase participants' knowledge, skills, and creativity in processing local food ingredients. The organoleptic test showed an average score of 4.5 (very satisfactory category), with the taste aspect receiving the highest score (4.9). Meanwhile, the results of the participant satisfaction survey showed an average score of 4.4 (satisfactory category), indicating that the training materials, facilities, and benefits were considered relevant and useful. This finding confirms that banana heart has the potential to be processed into innovative, healthy, and high-value products, while also supporting food diversification and food security based on local wisdom. Thus, this activity not only produces alternative food products but also makes a real contribution to community empowerment and strengthening the village economy

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to improve the physical and psychological health of the elderly through elderly exercise (senam lansia) conducted in Heledulaa Selatan Village, Gorontalo City. Based on preliminary observations, most elderly people in the area rarely engage in regular physical activity, resulting in a high prevalence of degenerative diseases, insomnia, and anxiety. The activity was carried out on August 24, 2025, at Nabila Farma Pharmacy and involved 18 elderly participants. The implementation consisted of preparation, exercise sessions, health education, and evaluation through participant interviews. The results showed that after participating in the exercise, 83.33% of the elderly felt happier compared to before. Regular exercise helped reduce anxiety, improve mood, and enhance physical fitness. Physiologically, exercise stimulates the release of endorphins, which promote relaxation and feelings of happiness. Therefore, elderly exercise proved to have a positive impact on both physical and psychological health and is recommended to be conducted regularly and sustainably. Keywords: elderly exercise, anxiety, psychological health, elderly fitness, community service

Abstract

This research aims to improve digital accounting literacy for vocational high school students through the implementation of information technology-based learning. The background of this research is based on the development of the digital era, which increasingly demands new skills in accounting. The use of software, accounting applications, and an understanding of digital concepts are becoming essential competencies for vocational high school graduates. This community service activity was conducted at SMK NU Kramat as a one-day socialization focused on understanding the basics of digital accounting, the use of information technology in recording transactions, and an introduction to digital-based accounting applications. The implementation method involved material presentations, interactive discussions, and simple exercises that directly involved students. The results showed that students were highly enthusiastic and active in participating in the activity because the material presented was relevant to their needs. Students gained a new understanding of the importance of digital accounting literacy as preparation for the world of work. This improvement was evident in the positive response, active participation, and students' ability to answer questions and complete exercises related to digital accounting. This activity demonstrated that information technology-based learning can be an effective strategy for improving digital accounting literacy among vocational high school students. Therefore, this community service is expected to be the first step in fostering the readiness of the younger generation to face the digital transformation in accounting and can serve as a model for implementing similar learning in other vocational schools.

Abstract

The phenomenon of brain rot, associated with repetitive and fast-paced digital content, poses risks to adolescents’ literacy and critical thinking skills, thereby requiring educational interventions to raise awareness and promote healthier digital habits. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a literacy socialization program based on Participatory Action Research (PAR) combined with Focus Group Discussion (FGD) in improving adolescents’ knowledge of brain rot. The program was conducted on July 27, 2025, in collaboration with PIK-R Andongsili, involving 15 female adolescents aged 14–22 years. The intervention consisted of structured material presentation followed by group discussion using case studies and mind mapping activities. Knowledge was assessed using a pre-test and post-test design, and data were analyzed using the paired t-test after the Shapiro–Wilk normality test. The results showed a significant improvement in knowledge, with the mean score increasing from 6.60 before the intervention to 7.80 after, yielding a mean difference of 1.20 points (p = 0.004). Furthermore, the proportion of participants categorized as having good knowledge increased from 26.7% to 73.3%. These findings indicate that literacy socialization through PAR and FGD effectively enhanced adolescents’ understanding of brain rot.

Abstract

Breast milk is the best source of nutrition for babies and is recommended by the WHO to be given exclusively for the first six months of life. However, the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding in Gorontalo is still low, including in the working area of the East City Health Centre. One of the causes is the lack of knowledge among mothers about the benefits, breastfeeding techniques, breast milk storage, and stress management during breastfeeding. This activity aims to increase the knowledge of pregnant women through education using video and PowerPoint media in the BESTIE ASI (Breast Care, Essential Nutrients, Storage, Technique, and Stress Managed ASI) programme. The activity methods include planning, preparation, implementation of counselling, and evaluation using pre-tests and post-tests. There were 15 pregnant women participating in the activity. The evaluation results showed an increase in the average knowledge score from 46.67 on the pre-test to 70.67 on the post-test. Video and PowerPoint media were effective in increasing knowledge because they were able to present the material in an interesting, interactive, and easy-to-understand manner. Thus, educational activities using audio-visual media have been proven to support the improvement of pregnant women's readiness for exclusive breastfeeding. Keywords: exclusive breastfeeding, pregnant women, health education, video, PowerPoint

Abstract

This study uses a case study of Al-Hikam Senior High School to illustrate the role of student teaching assistants in honing students' speaking skills through oration competitions. Speaking skills are an important skill that must be learned early amidst intense global competition. Students have the opportunity to learn directly from fellow students through the teaching assistant program, which emphasizes speaking skills such as rhetoric, material mastery, and self-confidence. This study found that teaching assistants at Al-Hikam Senior High School can encourage students to think more critically and be bold in expressing their opinions. This was discovered through observation methods and the implementation of oration competitions. The program also increased students' confidence in public speaking. The results showed that students who are actively involved in the teaching assistant program can make learning fun and relevant, thereby fostering students' interest in deepening better communication skills.

Abstract

Clean and Healthy Living Behaviour (PHBS) is a promotional strategy to improve public health through behavioural change at the household level. Initial observations in Hutadaa Village indicate low implementation of PHBS, characterised by smoking indoors, inadequate sanitation, and suboptimal waste management. This activity aims to increase community understanding and awareness of PHBS implementation through educational interventions. The community service was carried out on 7 September 2025 as part of the UNG Thematic Community Service Programme using an educational approach through presentations, educational videos, and interactive discussions. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' knowledge and motivation to implement PHBS indicators, such as proper hand washing practices, use of healthy toilets, consumption of nutritious food, and control of risky behaviours. Thus, community-based education has proven to be effective as an initial approach to health behaviour change. However, the sustainability of PHBS implementation requires environmental support, assistance, and cross-sector collaboration.
