Damhil: Jurnal Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (DJPkm, E-ISSN:2962-2875) is a peer-reviewed journal published by the Department of Chemistry, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo. DJPkM provides open access to the principle that research published in this journal is freely available to the public to support the exchange of knowledge globally. DJPkM published two-issue articles per year namely in June and December. DJPkM provides a place for academics, researchers, and practitioners to publish scientific articles. Each text sent to DJPkM editor is reviewed by peer review. Starting from Vol. 1 No. 1 (June 2022), all manuscripts sent to the DJPkM editor are accepted in Bahasa Indonesia or English. The scope of the articles listed in this journal relates to various topics, including (1) Education for Sustainable Development, (2) Community Services, Local Food Security, Nutrition and Public Health, (3) Training, Marketing, Appropriate Technology, Design, (4) Community Empowerment, Social Access, (5) Student Community Services, and (6) Border Region, Less Developed Region. Abstract

This community service program focuses on utilizing domestic waste from the sugar palm craftsmen in Desa Mongiilo to create organic fertilizer. The project aimed to address the underutilization of organic waste from sugar palm production by converting it into a valuable agricultural input. The initiative involved training local farmers in organic farming methods, including the production of organic fertilizers using sugar palm waste. The results of this program showed significant improvements in soil fertility and plant health, thereby enhancing agricultural productivity in the village. This program has the potential to be a sustainable solution for waste management and agricultural enhancement in rural areas.

Abstract

This article discusses the actualization of the second principle of Pancasila, namely "Just and Civilized Humanity," in everyday life, based on the results of a socialization activity conducted for sixth-grade students at SDN Percobaan. The activity aimed to instill humanistic values, strengthen character education, and prevent bullying behavior within the elementary school environment. The method used in this socialization was Participatory Action Research (PAR), which emphasizes active participant involvement in the learning process and collective reflection. The materials presented included an understanding of the second principle of Pancasila, the importance of mutual respect and cooperation, as well as moral value cultivation through contextual approaches appropriate to the students’ developmental stage. The results showed that this participatory approach effectively enhanced students’ understanding of the meaning of the second principle of Pancasila and encouraged the creation of a more inclusive and civilized learning environment. The success of this activity indicates that value and character education can be effectively integrated through communicative and interactive methods at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to introduce a spatial approach in disaster mitigation education and environmental conservation based on local wisdom to elementary school students in the coastal area of Tomini Bay. The activity was carried out at SDN 3 Kabila Bone and involved 25 students from grades 1 to 6, selected based on school recommendations and willingness to participate. The method used was classic lectures with the aid of visual media, such as maps of the Tomini Bay area and presentations accompanied by strengthened narratives of local wisdom. The activities took place in an enjoyable learning atmosphere, accompanied by question-and-answer sessions and interactive discussions. The success of the activity was evaluated through direct observation of three cognitive aspects of the students: their ability to recall, understand, and apply the material. The results showed that most students were able to achieve a high level of understanding in all aspects, particularly in applying the knowledge to real-life contexts. The spatial approach made it easier for students to recognize their home region and visually understand potential risks, while local values strengthened students’ connection to their social and cultural environment. This approach is simple, adaptive, and can be implemented in elementary schools in coastal areas with limited access to technology. These findings support the effectiveness of the spatial-cultural approach as a relevant, grounded, and widely replicable model for disaster mitigation education and environmental conservation in other regions with similar characteristics.

Abstract

Dalam perspektif Islam, anak merupakan amanah dari Allah SWT bagi kedua orang tuanya. Oleh karena itu, orang tua berkewajiban untuk melindungi dan mendidik anak-anaknya agar tumbuh menjadi pribadi yang berakhlak mulia, terutama bagi anak berkebutuhan khusus karena anak yang berkebutuhan khusus tersebut memerlukan penanganan yang ekstra khusus dalam mengasuhnya. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian studi kasus dengan menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif. Penyajian data dilakukan secara deskriptif melalui teknik pengumpulan data dengan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang seberapa besar peran orang tua dalam pembentukan akhlak mulia anak berkebutuhan khusus di SLBN Cileunyi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peran orang tua sangat besar dan penting dalam pembentukan akhlak mulia anak berkebutuhan khusus dan lingkungan khususnya sekolah juga memiliki pengaruh yang mendukung dalam penguatan akhlak mulia yang telah terbentuk di rumah. Anak-anak berkebutuhan khusus juga menunjukkan adanya perubahan signifikan setelah dibiasakan ajaran untuk berakhlakul karimah.

Abstract

This community empowerment program aims to educate residents of Desa IV Suku Menanti on making an organic pesticide called “Pestoganik” from overripe tomatoes and natural ingredients. Pestoganik utilizes bioactive compounds such as tomatine and solanine in tomatoes, combined with garlic, tobacco, lemongrass oil, baking soda, and vinegar. The method involved hands-on training, ingredient demonstrations, and application tests. The solution proved effective in reducing pest populations such as aphids and leaf borers by more than 60% within a week. Additionally, it is low-cost, environmentally friendly, and easy to replicate using local materials. The training not only improved pest management but also raised awareness of sustainable farming practices. This activity demonstrates a simple, community-based solution to reduce dependence on chemical pesticides.

Abstract

Abstract. This activity aimed to improve students’ entrepreneurship literacy through business plan preparation training. The program was implemented at Lambung Mangkurat University and involved twenty management students. The method consisted of material delivery, interactive discussions, and hands-on practice in preparing business plans based on their respective business ideas. The evaluation was conducted using pre- and post-activity questionnaires to assess changes in understanding, motivation, and technical skills. The results showed that participants demonstrated improved conceptual knowledge and skills in structuring business plans systematically. Most participants expressed positive feedback on the training methods and suggested that similar activities be held regularly. This activity concluded to be successful in enhancing students' entrepreneurial capacity and contributed to the development of an innovative entrepreneurial ecosystem on campus. Abstrak. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan literasi kewirausahaan mahasiswa melalui pelatihan penyusunan rencana bisnis. Pelaksanaan kegiatan dilakukan di Universitas Lambung Mangkurat dengan melibatkan dua puluh peserta dari program studi manajemen. Metode pelaksanaan mencakup penyampaian materi, diskusi interaktif, dan praktik langsung dalam menyusun rencana bisnis berdasarkan ide usaha masing-masing. Evaluasi dilakukan dengan angket pra dan pasca kegiatan menggunakan skala penilaian untuk menilai perubahan pemahaman, motivasi, dan keterampilan teknis peserta. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa peserta mengalami peningkatan pemahaman konseptual dan keterampilan menyusun rencana bisnis secara sistematis. Mayoritas peserta juga memberikan tanggapan positif terhadap metode pelatihan dan mengusulkan pelaksanaan kegiatan serupa secara berkelanjutan. Kegiatan ini disimpulkan berhasil mendorong peningkatan kapasitas kewirausahaan mahasiswa dan memberikan kontribusi terhadap pembentukan ekosistem usaha yang inovatif di lingkungan kampus.

Abstract

Program pengabdian masyarakat (KKN) yang dilaksanakan di Desa Dutohe Barat bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesehatan masyarakat dan pemberdayaan ekonomi melalui pemanfaatan daun kelor (Moringa oleifera). Program ini melibatkan pelatihan pengolahan daun kelor menjadi produk bernilai tambah seperti biskuit dan puding kelor, yang diharapkan dapat meningkatkan status gizi dan mengurangi angka stunting di desa tersebut. Pelatihan ini berhasil meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat mengenai pengolahan daun kelor, yang tidak hanya memperbaiki pola konsumsi makanan, tetapi juga membuka peluang usaha mikro, kecil, dan menengah (UMKM) berbasis produk lokal. Dampak positif terlihat pada peningkatan konsumsi makanan bergizi oleh anak-anak dan peningkatan pendapatan keluarga melalui usaha berbasis produk kelor. Meskipun menghadapi tantangan seperti keterbatasan pengetahuan awal, akses pasar, dan infrastruktur, program ini menunjukkan potensi besar untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat desa dan memperkuat ekonomi lokal. Keberhasilan program ini sangat bergantung pada kerjasama antara pemerintah, akademisi, dan masyarakat untuk mendukung keberlanjutan dan pengembangan lebih lanjut.

Abstract

Teachers are important pillars in the education process who often face high workloads and psychosocial stress, but their health attention is still minimal. This community service activity aims to provide education and health services for teachers in schools in an effort to improve their quality of life and work productivity. The methods used are health counselling, basic health checks, and personal medical consultations. Evaluation was conducted through pre-test and post-test as well as qualitative feedback. The results showed significant improvements in health knowledge and early detection of health problems among teachers. This program has the potential to be widely replicated as a preventive health strategy for educators
