Abstract

The global pandemic related to the coronavirus (2019-nCoV) continues to hit the world, including Indonesia until the end of 2021. The efforts to improve health services were carried out by various parties, including by members of the King of Christ Parish church as part of the Surabaya community. From this parish in July 2021, 301 people were sick with COVID-19 and almost 11% of them died. The public and health services were panicked by the occurrence of a wave of viral mutations, with the increasing of sufferers and high mortality rates. Integrated telemedicine services between doctors and pharmacists are one of the best options to prevent transmission and severity to support patient recovery rates. With telemedicine, health care needs are individualized and patient development is more controlled. The method was carried out through direct consultation between doctors, pharmacist, and patients, using the whatsapp call platform. Monitoring of patients was continued by pharmacist using the whatsapp message platform until the patient was cured. If necessary, consultation with the doctor could be carried out again during the patient’s healing process.  The research show that there is an integration of doctor and pharmacist services in telemedicine for COVID-19 patients in diagnosing, determining the best supporting drugs and therapies for the patients. Quantitatively, there was a decrease in the mortality rate, an increase in patient compliance and recovery. As an additional indicator, the residents welcome the integrated services that are carried out and can be developed for other health services.

Abstract

Hypoglycemia has a serious impact on the morbidity, mortality and quality of life of people with Diabetes Mellitus (DM). To prevent or reduce the risk of hypoglycemia, education is very important, including identification of hypoglycemia, detection of causes, prevention efforts and early treatment efforts at home. The use of mobile applications strongly supports independent health management because it is easily accessible, portable, low cost, convenient for users, and has a wide reach. This community service aims to optimize the use of the smartphone application “NEDTA” to improve the ability to identify hypoglycemia in people with diabetes mellitus in the Simpang Kawat Health Center area of Jambi City. The partners of this Community Partnership Program are the Head of Simpang Kawat Health Center, the Person in Charge of the Non-Communicable Disease Program (PTM) and 40 people with DM who meet the criteria. The methods used include socialization, competency improvement, implementation of activities, monitoring and evaluation. The results of community service revealed that more than half (58%) had diabetes for more than 10 years and most (74%) had experienced hypoglycemia. There was an increase in the ability to identify hypoglycemia after using the NEDTA smartphone application from 40% of high ability patients (pre test) to 75% (post test). The Head of the Community Health Center in charge of the non-communicable disease program at the Simpang Kawat Health Center is expected to continue mentoring activities in the use of the NEDTA application so that DM sufferers are independent in recognizing hypoglycemia, supporting the prevention and eradication of non-communicable diseases (P2PTM) such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension and other non-communicable diseases and support the PIS-PK Program.

Abstract

Breastfeeding or in a foreign language called breasting is the feeding of breast milk (breast milk) as a natural food provided to the baby. The breastfeeding process can be hampered due to several problems, one of which is mastitis. Mastitis in nursing mothers is an infection of breast tissue when the mother is breastfeeding, mainly occurs due to blockage of breast milk ducts by a coagulated breast milk and accompanied by bacteria that enter the breast tissue through the nipple.  The incidence of mastitis is estimated to occur in the first 12 weeks to the second year of feeding. Mastitis needs to be considered because being one of the reasons for the mother to stop breastfeeding can proceed to other diseases such as breast abscesses. Lack of knowledge about mastitis and its treatment causes many mothers to detect mastitis too late and aggravate the state of mastitis. Therefore, prevention and education related to mastitis when the mother is breastfeeding is needed. This activity was held on July 29, 2022 for 3 hours and was attended by 23 mothers of reproductive age who lived in Gantiang village, Padang Panjang Timur. The results of this activity obtained differences in the average level of knowledge of participants before and after counseling. This activity has an impact on increasing public knowledge related to mastitis so that it can increase the success of breastfeeding and prevent stunting.

Abstract

Adolescent girls are very vulnerable to malnutrition. They need protein, iron, and other micronutrients to support accelerated adolescent growth and meet the increased iron needs during menstruation. Women are more likely to suffer from malnutrition than men, for reasons including women's reproductive biology, low social status, poverty, and lack of education. Sociocultural traditions and disparities in domestic work patterns can also increase women's chances of malnutrition. The problem-solving method used is educating through presentations on the nutritional needs of young women by distributing leaflets and posters containing the nutritional needs of adolescents and their problems. During the community service activities, 30 young women attended. Community service activities carried out for two days at Dayah Terpadu Al Madinatuddiniyah Syamsuddhuha, Dewantara District, North Aceh Regency, there was an increase in the average knowledge of the target audience of community service about education for fulfilling nutritious meals for young women, in the pretest evaluation the target audience had an average knowledge of 70 ,3 and on the posttest evaluation the average value became 84.7. It is important for health workers to continue to provide information about the nutritional needs of adolescents as an effort to increase adolescent knowledge by involving teachers in the dayah as the closest environment for adolescents.
