Abstract

The Effect of Lamtorogung Manure (Leucaena leucocephala) and Planting Spacing on Growth and Yield of Tomatoes (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill.)ABSTRACT. The aim of this study was to find out the effect of dosages of lamtorogung manure and planting spacing, and interaction between them, on both growth and yield of tomatoes. Treatments were arranged by Factorial Completely Randomized Block Design 3 x 3 with 3 replications. Factors evaluated  were dosage of lamtorogung manure (15, 25 and 35 ton ha-1) and planting spacing (50 cm x 60 cm,  50 cm x 70 cm and 50 cm x 80 cm). Variables observed were the height of plant and diameter of the lower end of stem  at 15, 30 and 45 days after planting, the number of fruits per plant  (3 times harvest), the weight of fruits per plant, and diameter of fruit. The result of the study indicated  that dosage of lamtorogung manure of 25 ton ha-1 was the best for the highest tomato yield, and planting spacing of 50 cm x 80 cm was the best for both plants growth and yield. There was no interaction between both treatments towards growth and yield.

Abstract

Controlling of Soil Erosion and Run-off by Vertical Mulch Technology on the Citrus Cultivation at Hill SlopeABSTRACT. The effects of vertical mulch applications on erosion control and run-off, also soil properties and fertility on citrus cultivations at hill slope had been done in July to November, 2007 in buffer zone of Gunung Leuser National Park, Rumah Galuh Village, Sei Bingei Sub-district, Langkat district, with 560 meters altitude, and 22,5% land slope. Two vertical mulch application are: vertical mulch having the same aim with contour line, and ring vertical mulch. The conservations methods were studied are pile having the same aim with contour line, pile ring, ring of mulch in gunny-sack. Two control experiments are: horizontal mulch application, and without mulch application. These result are: vertical mulch applications could control erosion and run-off and affected physical and chemical soil properties better than horizontal mulch application. The best of conservation methods application where controlling erosion and and run-off are contour pile and mulch in gunny-sack, and affected on soil physical and biological properties are ring vertical mulch, but for affecting soil chemical properties are mulch in gunny-sack.

Abstract

Effect of Cutting and Forms Rootone F on the Growth of the Roses (Rosa sp)ABSTRACT. This study aims to determine the effect of cutting and way of giving proper rootone F and the presence or absence of interaction between the two factors under study on the growth of cutting roses. The research was conducted in the Village of Blang Cut, District Leung Bata, Banda Aceh, the ongoing since August – October 2006. This research used randomized block design factorial pattern of 3x4 with 3 replications. There are two factors studied were the first factor is the cutting material (S) which consists of 3 levels: the base of cutting (S1), cutting the middle (S2) and cutting the tip (S3), the second factor is the form rootone F consists of 4 levels: Control (R0), from a paste (R1), the form of flour (R2) and forms a solution of (R3). Observed in this study is to shoot length, number of shoot, number of compound leaves per shoot, number of root and root length. The result showed that the materials have strong cuttings of shoot number of age 60 days after transplanting (DAT), the number of compound leaves per shoot, number of roots and root length HST age 80, the best result encountered in cutting edge treatment material (S3) Treatment rootone F shows that the effect is very significant effect on the number of shoots age 60 DAT, the number of compound leaves, number of root and root length HST age 80, the best result encountered in the treatment of flour (R2). There is significant interaction on the number of compound leaves per shoot, root length and number of root age 80 DAT, the best interaction was obtained at S3R2 combination treatment.

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dosis pupuk N dan P serta media tanam terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman kacang tanah. Ada 2 faktor yang diteliti yaitu dosis pupuk N dan P terdiri dari 4 taraf: tanpa pupuk, 0,21 + 0,21, 0,26 + 0,32, dan 0,32 + 0,42 g/pot. Faktor media tanam terdiri atas 3 taraf yaitu: tanah Entisol tidak tercemar tanpa isolat bakteri, tanah Entisol tercemar tanpa isolat bakteri dan tanah Entisol tercemar diberi isolat bakteri. Peubah yang diamati yaitu tinggi tanaman, diameter pangkal batang, jumlah polong, berat polong dan jumlah polong bernas pertanaman, berat basah dan kering berangkasan tunas, berat basah dan kering berangkasan akar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pertumbuhan tanaman kacang tanah terbaik dijumpai pada perlakuan dosis pupuk N dan P 0,32 + 0,42 g/pot (90 kg urea + 120 kg SP36/ha). Selanjutnya pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman kacang tanah terbaik dijumpai pada media tanam tanah entisol tidak tercemar tanpa isolat bakteri. Pertumbuhan dan hasil kacang tanah pada tanah tercemar hidrokarbon diberi isolat bakteri lebih baik bila dibandingkan dengan tanah tercemar hidrokarbon tanpa isolat bakteri. The Growth and Yield of Peanut (Arachis hypogeal L.) by Affected Nitrogen and Phospate Fertilizers on Growing Media of Hydrocarbon ContaminatedABSTRACT. This study aims to determine the effect of N and P fertilizers and growing media on the growth and yield of peanut plants. There are 2 factors studied were N and P fertilizer consists of 4 levels : no fertilizer , 0.21 + 0.21 , 0.26 + 0.32 and 0.32 + 0.42 g / pot. Factors planting medium consisting of 3 levels: Entisol uncontaminated soil without bacterial isolates, entisols contaminated soil without bacterial isolates and soil contaminated Entisol given bacterial isolates. Parameters observed that the plant height, stem diameter, number of pods , pod weight and number of pods pithy planting, wet and dry weight of shoots, wet and dry weight of roots. The results showed that the best peanut plant growth observed in the treatment of N and P fertilizer dose of 0.32 + 0.42 g / pot ( 90 kg urea + 120 kg SP36/ha). Furthermore, growth and yield of peanut plants best observed in growing media entisols uncontaminated soil without bacterial isolates. Growth and yield of hydrocarbon contaminated peanuts given bacterial isolates better when compared with hydrocarbon contaminated soil without bacterial isolates.

Abstract

Comparison of object Oriented Classification With Maximum Likelihood Classification on Land Cover Maaping in District of Gayo LuesABSTRACT. Image classification method used critically effects the classified image produced as well as its accuracy. One of the recently introduced classification methods is Object-Oriented Classification (OOC). The fundamental difference between this method and that of Maximum Likelihood Classification (MLC) lies on the basic unit of image analytical prosses, i.e., image object or segment, and not on a single pixed. The new classification method uses a segmentation procedure with a hierarchical approach which allows an addition of an object  characteristic to other information related  to the classified object, such as from, texture, and context. This object or segment is formed because the smallest region has a larger area than the image pixel. In this study, MLC and OOC classification methods were compered using Landsat ETM+ image for Gayo Lues District of Aceh. The objective of this study was to map out land cover/ landuse classes of the research area and compare the result and its accuracy using the MLC and OOC classification methods. Result  of the study showed that a higher, more detailed, hierarchical land cover/ landuse class with a higher accuracy was obtained using OOC classification method which corresponds better to the contextual condition in the field compared to that of the pixel- based classification method.

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk membandingkan kualitas susu yang diambil dari susu kandang yang menggunakan pakaian hijauan klobot jagung, pakan hijau rumput lapangan dan campuran antara pakan hijauan klobot jagung dan pakan hijauan rumput lapang dengan standard kualitas susu sesuai dengan Standard Nasional Indonesia (SNI 01-3141-1998) di lokasi peternakan Kebon Pedes Bogor, dan mengevaluasi kandungan residu pestisida pada susu sapi. Penelitian ini menggunakan Sembilan sampel susu dengan tiga sampel berasal dari peternakan yang menggunakan pakan hijauan klobot jagung, 3 sampel dari peternakan yang menggunakan pakan hijauan rumput lapangan dan 3 sampel dari peternakan yang menggunakan pakan hijauan campuran keduanya, serta sampel pakan yang digunakan oleh para peternak di Kebon Pedes Bogor. Residu pestisida dalam susu merupakan peubah yang diamati dalam penelitian ini. Analisis statistic yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis deskriptif. Hasil peneltian menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada residu pestisida yang terdapat pada susu yang dihasilkan dari pakan hijauan klobot jagung, pakan hijauan rumput lapangan dan campuran antara pakan hijauan klobot jagung dan pakan hijauan rumput lapang.Pesticide Residues Analysis in Milk from Dairy Cows Fed by Corn Husks from Organic Waste of Traditional MarketABSTRACT. The objective of this research was to compare the quality of milk taken from dairy cows fed by corn husks, grass and mix of corn husk and grass with standard of milk quality according Standard National Indonesia (SNI 01-3141 -1998) at Kebon Pedas Dairy ifarm Bogor, and to examine the content of pesticide residues in milk. Nine sample of milk, with three sample from dairy farm that used corn husks as roughages, three sample from dairy farm that use grass and three other from dairy farm that use mix of corn husks and grass were used in this research. Pesticide residues in milk were observed as research variable. Descriptive statistical analysis was used in this research. The result showed that negative result of pesticides residues of milk from dairy cows fed by corn husks, grass and mix of corn husks and grass.

Abstract

ABSTRACT. Crocidolomia pavonana F. is an important pest on mustards. Damage caused by this pest could be 100 percent if not controlled. Objective of the research was to find an effective concentration of garlic extract to control C. pavonana F. The research was the conducted at Experimental Farm of Agriculture Faculty, Syiah Kuala University, Darussalam Banda Aceh. Treatments were arranged by Completely Randomized Block Design (CRD) non factorial with 7 level concentrations based on LC50 of 20.69 ml L-1 or 20.69 percent. The concentrations of treatment were 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, and 70 ml L-1 of water. The treatment was replication four times. The result showed that the garlic extracts were effective to control C. pavonana. Observation on larva mortality was carried out until the end of larva period of 3 day after application

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan pengaruh naungan dan varietas terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman stroberi pada dataran rendah serta interaksi kedua faktor tersebut.  Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Petak Terpisah pola RAK. Faktor naungan sebagai petak utama terdiri dari:  tidak ternaungi (100% cahaya), 1 lapisan naungan  (70% cahaya) dan dua lapisan naungan (40% cahaya) dan varietas stroberi sebagai anak petak terdiri dari: Michiko, Earlibrite dan Tristar. Peubah yang diamati adalah:  pertambahan tinggi tanaman dan pertambahan daun, number of flowers, jumlah buah, bobot buah, dan diameter buah per tanaman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pertumbuhan dan hasil terbaik tanaman stroberi apabila tidak dinaungi, sedangkan untuk varietas terbaik dijumpai pada Michiko. Ada interaksi yang nyata antara naungan dan varietas terhadap jumlah daun pada 75 HST dan tinggi tanaman pada 15 HST. Varietas Earlibrite yang tidak dinaungi atau dinaungi dua lapis, dapat meningkatkan jumlah daun pada 75 HST. Varietas Michiko yang tidak dinaungi dapat meningkatkan tinggi tanaman.The Effects of Shading and Varieties on Growth and Yield of Strawberry (Fragaria Sp.) in LowlandABSTRACT. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of shading and varieties on growth and yield of strawberry plants in the lowlands and the interaction between these factors. The research was conducted using a Split Plot Design. Factors studied are shading as the main plots consisting of no-shading (100% sunlight), one layer of shading (70% sunlight) and two layers of shading (40% sunlight) and strawberry varieties as subplot consisting of Michiko, Earlibrite and Tristar. Observed variable is the increase in the number of plant height and leaf, number of flowers, number of fruits, fruit weight and diameter of fruit per plant. The results showed the best growth and yield of strawberry plants tend to be found on treatment no-shading. The best varieties tend to be found in varieties Michiko. There is a significant interaction between shading and varieties in the number of leaf age 75 HST and in plant height age 15 HST. The best interaction of the number of leaf in the age of 75 HST was Earlibrite varieties with the no-shading and two layers of shading, as well as to varieties Michiko and Tristar with one layer shading. In plant height age of 15 HST, the best combination of interactions found in varieties Michiko with no-shading.

Abstract

Implications of the Existance of Invasive Species-Waterhyacinth on Communities of Parasitoid InsectABSTRACT. The introduction of an invasive exotic plant species may influence parasitoid insect community indirectly. The objective of this research is to evaluate the implication of the existence of invasive species-waterhyacinth on parasitoid insect community. The research was done in several fresh water ecosystem occupied by waterhyacinth in west java and DKI Jakarta, conducted during January 2004 to March 2006. Sweep net and yellow pan trap were use to collect the sample of insects. The result of the research showed that the existence of waterhyacinth may indirectly resulted in decreasing species richness and diversity of parasitoid insect. The observation also showed that the existence of waterhyacinth may lead to homogenization of parasitoid insect in aquatic vegetation.

Abstract

Perbedaan Varietas Tentang Karakter Daun Bendera Hubungannya dengan Pertumbuhan dan Hasil Padi GogoABSTRAK. Penelitian sebelumnya telah mengungkapkan bahwa daun bendera padi gogo pada kondisi naungan berkorelasi positif dengan hasil. Namun hubungan antara daun bendera dan pertumbuhan serta hasil pada berbagai genotipe padi gogo pada kondisi tanpa naungan masih perlu diteliti lebih lanjut. Oleh karena itu, tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi perbedaan avrietas dari karakter daun bendera berbagai genotipe padi gogo yang berhubungan dengan pertumbuhan dan hasil serta menghitung korelasi antara karakter daun bendera dan kompoenen pertumbuhan maupun hasil yang nantinya digunakan sebagai indikator seleksi hasil tinggi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Sukoharjo, Tanggamus mulai awal oktober 2002 sampai dengan akhir Maret 2003 dengan menggunakan 18 genotipe padi gogo. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa TB 165-TB-6 mempunyai luas daun bendera dan ukuran biji tertinggi, yaitu berturut-turut 53,1 cm-2 dan 34,3 g/1000 butir. Sebailknya, genotipe dodokan mempunyai luas daun kecil, yaitu 25,8 cm2 dan menunjukkan ukuran biji yang kecil, yaitu 25,7 g/1000 butir. Kondisi ini secara tidak langsung menunjukkan bahwa luas daun bendera berkorelasi positif dengan ukuran biji, yaitu r= 0,31**. Luas daun bendera juga menunjukkan korelasi positif dengan bobot kering batang yaitu r=0,23**. Hal ini berarti bahwa daun bendera mempunyai peran yang penting untuk mengalokasikan fotosintat ke bagian biji. Oleh karena itu, perbedaan varietas untuk daun bendera akan bermanfaat digunakan sebagai indikator seleksi ukuran biji pada padi gogo.
