Abstract

The aims of this research were to determine the effectiveness of waste water processing in reducing content of phenol in RSUDZA. Research was conducted from June to September 2009. This research used 2 locations sampling which consist the tub before processing (inlet) and after processing (outlet), then data taken in 10 repetition consecutive days. The observed parameter ware phenol content and parameter like pH, BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand), COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) dan TSS (Total Suspendid Solid) content. Data were analyzed by using paired t test (P0,05). The result show that fenol content were significant different before and after the processing. Phenol content decreased from 32% to 96.4%. Phenol content (0.020 mg/L) outlet had fulfilled the quality standard already established. These refer as judged effective values the pH parameters show that there were increasing. The result also show that not only phenol content decrease but also BOD, COD and TSS content.

Abstract

Malaria is an infectious disease caused by the Plasmodium through the bite of Anopheles sp.  After the tsunami in 2004, Aceh Besar and Banda Aceh suffered various environmental changes. Environmental is one of supporting factors for high number of malaria incidences. Indicators of the increasing incidence of malaria is the increase in the value of AMI (Annual Malaria Incidence). In 2004, the value of AMI in Aceh Besar district reached 11.74 0/00 and increased to 26.34 0/00 in 2015. Vector control is one of  malaria control programs. To support the program , it had been conducted a survey of Anopheles (by collecting larvae) as the potential vector. This was was a descriptive study which was conducted in 16 sampling points in Aceh Besar district, from February to October 2007. The results showed  mean value of vector breeding pH was 7.8. The aquatic vegetation in larval breeding habitat were Spirogyra sp, Limnocharis flava, Ipomoea aquatica, Ipomoea pes-caprae), and Oriza sativa. Species of Anopheles sp found were Anopheles sundaicus, Anopheles vagus, Anopheles barbirostris, Anopheles  kochi, Anopheles maculatus, and Anopheles tesselatus.

Abstract

The objectives of the research were: (1) to determine the distribution pattern, association, and interaction of plant species, and (2) to determine the relationship between life form and the distribution pattern of species. Quadrate method was used in this research. Determination of species distribution pattern was calculated using Poisson Distribution formula. The result indicated that: (1) The species richness were dominated by grasses, reaching 20,63% of the 33 observed species,  21 of them were in a clumped distribution, 7 species in a reguler, and 5 species were at random pattern. (2) There are relationship between life form and the distribution of the plant species. The multy-plants tend to have a clumped distribution pattern, and single plant tend to heve a reguler or random distribution pattern.

Abstract

Implementation of process skills approach to the concept of plant motion system in SMA Negeri 3 Pidie. Research purposes to know the process of learning outcomes through the application process skills approach to the concept of plant movement. The approach used was qualitative descriptive approach types of Class Actions. This study used two cycles with four components, namely planning (planning), action (acting), observation (observing) and reflection (reflecting). Subjects in this study were students in grade XI IPA 3 year 2009/2010 amounted to 30 people. The instrument used was the test at the end of each cycle. To find out the improvement process and the thoroughness of learning were used a percentage formula. Results showed that the average grade 77.67 80% completeness level of exam success cycle I. Cycle II gained an average grade of 72.17 with 86.67% completeness level. Students generally gave positive responses (attitudes agree) on learning. It is recommended that the application of process skills approach can be used on other concepts in the biology learning as one model that can enable student learning.

Abstract

Crocidolomia binotalis is the main pest on broccoli by feeding the leaves causing damage by 100% (Dono Rismanto, 2008). This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Plant Pests Department of Agrotechnology Faculty of Agriculture Univerrsity of Syiah Kuala Banda Aceh from January to December 2014. The aim was to investigate the effectiveness of mixture of extract of papaya leaf and castor beans on mortality of C. pavonana mortality. The study used completely randomized design (CRD). The results showed that the mortality of larvae has reached up to 90 % and feeding inhibition  was 91.04%, decrease in the pupae stage 56.67% and imago 46.67% compared to other lower treatments.

Abstract

Biological parameters of insect pests is very important in testing the resistance of rice plants against brown plant hopper. This research aims to study the amount and duration of stage egg, nymph, imago, and the life cycle of brown plant hopper on four varieties of rice. The methods used in research was Complete Random Design  with four treatments (variety of IR 64, Batang Piaman, Cisokan, and IR 42) and eight replications. Research data were analyzed using variance analysis and continued with List Significant Different (LSD) at 5% level. The results of research showed that the number and duration of stage egg, nymph, imago, and cycle time of brown plant hopper in four rice varieties were different. Number of egg, nymph, and imago were lowest in 64 IR varieties, while the highest was IR 42 variety. Stage of eggs and nymphs were the shortest in IR 42 varieties, while the longest were IR variety 64. Imago stage was the shortest in IR 64 variety, while longest was the variety IR 42. The life cycle of brown plant hopper were shortest in IR 42 varieties, while longest was the variety IR 64. The results of this study can be concluded that the IR 64 varieties more resistant than the varieties IR 42, Cisokan, and Batang Piaman based on stage of egg, nymph, and imago.

Abstract

Isolat bakteri endofit DB2dan BUB2hasil isolasi dari tanaman belimbing wuluh memiliki kemampuan antijamur terhadap Candida albicans. Isolat DB2 memiliki kemampuan menghambat yang lebih luas dibandingkan dengan isolat BUB2. Hasil karakterisasi fisiologi menggunakan MICROBACTTM GNB 24E (OXOID) menunjukkan kedua isolat memiliki karakterisasi fisiologi yang berbeda. Hasil analisis gen 16S rRNA menunjukkan isolat DB2memiliki kemiripan sebesar 99% dengan Pseudomonas montelli.

Abstract

The main problem castor plantation (Jatropha curcas L.) is a pest Macrotermes gilvus result in lower production in terms of both quality and quantity. The research was conducted in August 2010. This research aims to study the pest M. gilvus to castor plantation in KIJP Pakuwon. The intensity of the attack M. gilvus in castor plantation  in Block I (33%), Block II (27%) and Block III (15%), and if not immediately controlled can cause economic losses.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of komarasca (compost-activated carbon, liquid smoke) results of processing solid organic waste on plant growth god leaves (Gynura pseudochna (Lour) DC). Solid organic waste comes from the market in Bogor City consisting of leaves, wood, bamboo, and twigs of plants. Compost is made by waste composting techniques biodekomposer type leaves using Effective Microorganism (EM-4), whereas activated charcoal and liquid smoke is made through the pyrolysis process of solid waste mixture consisting of 50% wood, 25% bamboo and 25% twigs of plants. Seedling leaf plant using is the god of tuber crops from the Garden Study Center medicinal Cikabayang IPB, Bogor.  Tuber is cut into pieces measuring 1.5 to 2.0 cm, and then sowing to grow and produce leaves 2-3. Planting medium used a mixture of soil-compost-activated carbon treatment made by certain variations and each is inserted into the plastic polyback. God leaf seedlings planted simultaneously in poliback was completed, the planting medium. Observation the growth of plants includes the amount of leaf, stem height and number of tillers. After a 30-day-old plants sprayed with pesticides. The observation on days 0, 10, 20, and 30 showed an increase in the number of leaves, stem height and number of tillers. The observation after the plants sprayed with liquid smoke showed good plant growth the number of leaves, stem height and number of tillers is increasing especially in the treatment of M5P1 (addition of activated carbon with steam activation results and liquid smoke).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan hasil belajar kognitif siswa pada materi pencemaran dan kerusakan lingkungan melalui penerapan model kooperatif tipe jigsaw. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental semu dengan desain Pretest-Post-test Control Group. Sampel yang digunakan adalah kelompok eksperimen kelas VII-3 dan kelompok kontrol kelas  VII-4. Populasi adalah siswa MTsN Kuta Baro Kabupaten Aceh Besar. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan pretes dan postes dan dianalasisi dengan analisis data gain. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan hasil belajar kognitif pada kelas experimen adalah kategori rendah 30% dan sedang 70 %, sedangkan pada pembelajaran konvensional adalah kategori  rendah 57%, sedang 42%. Kesimpulan penelitian menunjukkan hasil belajar siswa pada materi pencemaran dan kerusakan lingkungan dengan model kooperatif tipe jigsaw lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan hasil yang dibelajarkan dengan pembelajaran konvensional.
