Abstract

The development of the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Pujut district, while driving economic growth, has raised concerns about declining school interest and high dropout rates among local students. This qualitative study, employing interpretive phenomenological methods, explores the experiences and perceptions of education actors, including the vice principal for student affairs, counseling guidance teachers, Mongge madrasah teachers, and the Head of Sukadana Village, to understand the underlying factors. Findings reveal economic constraints as a primary cause of dropout, with many students from low-income families unable to afford education. Early marriage, particularly among female students, is another significant factor influenced by economic, social, and cultural pressures. Additionally, broken homes, unsupportive social environments, the negative influence of social media, and a lack of motivation contribute to the problem. Schools have responded with counseling, parental engagement, and restrictions on mobile phone use. However, deeper issues like early marriage and broken homes necessitate broader interventions involving government policies and socio-cultural change. This research illuminates the complexity of school dropout in the Mandalika SEZ and highlights the need for a comprehensive approach engaging all stakeholders to ensure educational access and success for all students.

Abstract

Often human fitrah is interpreted as human potential in knowing good and bad, but if explored more deeply, human fitrah has a forming component. Tafsir alMisbah and alAzhar were chosen to unravel these components. Both of these interpretations have a uniqueness that is the use of adaby ijtima'i or societal style, but different angles of approach and orientation. Quraish Shihab tends to be systematic, structural, and psyco-sociological. Meanwhile, Hamka tends to be philosophical, Sufistic, and sociological. This research is qualitative research using literature review data. This research uses a comparative method. The research steps by explaining the concept of the study in general, then examined based on both interpretations referring to the object of the verse that can represent aspects of fitrah in detail. According to tafsir alMisbah, human nature is a facility from God for humans to recognise Him and obey Him. Meanwhile, according to the interpretation of al-Azhar, human nature is a means of acknowledging the existence of the Creator since humans can use reason. Dimensionally, human nature is divided into three parts, 1) fitrah jismiyyah, 2) fitrah nafsiyyah (i.) nafs, ii.) 'aql, iii.) qolb), 3) fitrah ruhiyyah. All three function differently but cannot operate partially, the combination of aspects collaborates to become fitrah.

Abstract

This article discusses the relationship between Islam and nationalism in Indonesia, highlighting the important role of Islam in maintaining the integrity of the Republic of Indonesia through the spirit of nationalism. The combined power of religion and nationalism is a strong foundation to unite a diverse nation. This struggle does not only come from nationalists, but also from religious figures, one of whom is KH Maimun Zubair. He often voiced the importance of the national spirit in his lectures, in line with his work in politics through the United Development Party (PPP). This research uses the literature method with an analytical descriptive approach and the sociology of knowledge as an analytical tool. The main focus is the tafsir Safinah Kalla Saya'lamun Fi Tafsir Syaikhina Maimun, by his student Ismail al-Ashcholy, which summarizes the study of Tafsir al-Jalalain. KH Maimun Zubair asserts that nationalism is formed through the bonds of long residence, ethnic mixing, and migration, reflecting the principle of unity without discrimination, as taught since the time of the Prophet. According to him, all humans are equal in the eyes of Allah, and the only difference is the level of piety.

Abstract

Indonesia is known as a plural and multicultural country in all aspects of culture, race, ethnicity, language and religion. So that Multiculturalism can provide an understanding of how to behave in the midst of diversity. Misunderstanding will result in potential conflict, especially that which often occurs between religious communities, so understanding the concept of multiculturalism in all religions is very important. (1) Islam, sees diversity as a necessity from God, because humans were created into tribes, nations, and many religions to get to know each other or learn from each other. (2) Christian, many Bible verses talk about multiculturalism related to compassion between fellow human beings, for example Psalm 133, Galatians 3:28, Matthew: 22:37-40. (3) Catholic, one history explains how in the Second Vatican Council, the Church opened itself to the potential for truth in other religions, so that inclusivity became the key to dialogue with other religions, (4) Hinduism is the same, many of their holy texts explain the importance of maintaining peace in the midst of diversity, for example Arthavaveda III. 8.5 and Artahavaveda III. 30.4. there is also the concept of Ahimsa, Vasudeva Kutumbhakam, Tri Kaya Parisudha, Tri Hita Karana, Satyam Siwam Sundaram, catur paramita. (5) Buddhism is the same as other religions, the greatest enemy is not other groups, but oneself is the greatest enemy in creating peace on earth, (6) Confucianism also teaches about wisdom in behaving towards other religions. The application of multicultural values from all religions certainly needs to be implemented to face challenges in the midst of a multicultural society, such as attitudes of intolerance, misinterpretation or using religion as a tool to destroy other groups by providing multicultural education in the world of education and based on religious figures in each religion.

Abstract

In writing this article, I would like to fully elaborate on the Yemeni laws regarding the marriage of Muslim women in Yemen, discussing the annulment of marriages of men who adhere to Islam or Muslims who do not marry Muslim women and women of the Book in Yemen. As for the women of the book who can be married to Muslim men in Yemen, it is necessary to elaborate on the permissibility of marrying women who are not Muslims. Yemen itself fully takes the source of law in the text of the Quran where the regulation of marriage in Yemen between Muslim men and women of the book is allowed and regulated in Yemeni legal laws. On the other hand, interfaith marriages in other regions regarding women of the book cannot be found, in Indonesia for example, interfaith marriages only explain marriages between Muslims and non-Muslims or non-Muslims, there is no mention of women of the book at all. For this reason, this article aims to elaborate on the explanation of women of the book, in the midst of the debate whether or not it is permissible to marry a woman of the book, Yemen still adheres to the text of the Quran which allows Muslim men to marry women of the book to this day.

Abstract

Symbols of sacredness such as the Kaaba and the cross play a central role in Islamic and Christian traditions, representing spiritual, theological, and sociocultural aspects. This research examines the sacred dimensions of these two symbols using the perspective of Mircea Eliade, known for his phenomenological approach to understanding religion and symbolism. The main issues raised are how the Kaaba and the cross can become sacred centers of spirituality, and how their symbolic meanings are understood in a cross-religious and cultural context. This research explores the meaning and function of the Kaaba and cross symbols, using a qualitative method based on comparative studies. Data collection techniques were conducted through a literature review that included books, academic articles, and other relevant documents. Data were analyzed through the classification, reduction, and interpretation stages, focusing on the relationship of these symbols to religious experience and socio-cultural context. The results show that the Kaaba, as the center of Muslim worship, is a symbol of spiritual unity associated with monotheism, while the cross in the Christian tradition symbolizes victory over sin and death, and is central to the sacrificial theology of Jesus Christ. Both symbols function as manifestations of hierophany, as per Eliade's theory, which creates a sacred space in the midst of worldly life. The research also reveals the role of the Kaaba and the cross as a means of forming the collective identity of their respective communities, whose relevance is maintained despite the challenges of modernity.
