Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of the use of information technology on the appreciation of the Catholic faith among young people in Central Papua. The research method used a quantitative approach with a survey of 150 Catholic teenagers in Deiyai district, Central Papua. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression to see the relationship between the intensity of information technology use and the appreciation of the Catholic faith. The results showed that the wise use of information technology has a positive influence on the appreciation of faith, especially through access to digital spiritual content. However, there are also challenges in the form of using technology for things that do not support the life of faith. This study recommends strategies to improve digital literacy based on Catholic faith values to optimize the positive impact of technology.

Abstract

This topic is inspired by the situations and conditions that occur on the campus of the Catholic College of Saint Yakobus Merauke that quite a lot of students who are more dominant have associations that have an impact on interpersonal intelligence so that this thesis aims to see how much influence peer association has on the interpersonal intelligence of students at the Catholic College of Saint Yakobus Merauke. This type of research is quantitative with a regression analysis model. The sample in this study were students of the Catholic College of Saint Yakobus Merauke from semester II-XII as many as 132 people. The instrument used is a questionnaire with a semantic scale model developed in 98 statements with two variables, namely peer association (50) and interpersonal intelligence (48). From the validity test results at a significant level of 5%, N = 132 people with a critical value of 0.1 and the results of the peer association reliability test obtained an alpha coefficient of 0.903 means the reliability of the instrument is moderate and the reliability of inerpersonal intelligence obtained an alpha coefficient of 0.908 means the reliability of the instrument is very high. From the results of the simple linear regression test with a significant level of 5%, an r² value of 0.473 (47.3%) was obtained, which means that there is an influence even though the effect is weak, meaning that peer association does not have a significant impact on student interpersonal intelligence. Other variables that affect student interpersonal intelligence are 52.7%, which shows that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. This means that peers have an effect on student interpersonal intelligence. Based on the results of this study, it is recommended that students need to increase socialization both within the scope of campus and outside campus and there is support from lecturers. In an effort to improve socialization in the world of education, namely creating a healthier, more inclusive and supportive learning environment. Increased interaction between peers has the potential to create a social environment that is harmonious and conducive to the personal development of students.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the role of OMK in the station of St. Francis Xaverius Kole. The research was conducted in relation to the presence of OMK which is a major force in the Church. They have participated in church life since their youth, which is synonymous with a time of vigor. They are not only referred to as the future of the Church which makes it seem as if young people will play a role in the Church when their youthfulness is lost due to age, but it is precisely in their youthful enthusiasm that young people provide wealth for the Church through their involvement in church life which is manifested in the implementation of the five pillars of the Church, namely kerygma (proclamation), koinonia (fellowship), lituria (sanctification), diakonia (service) and martyria (witness) which manifest the existence of the Church as a community of faith in the world. The results of the study found that young Catholics in Kole Station, although not too many of them, still play a role in church life in accordance with their respective ways. This research uses qualitative methods, namely interviews with several informants to obtain more in-depth data about the facts that occur in the field.

Abstract

Young Catholics are an essential part of the Church with responsibilities in the development and renewal of the Church. This research aims to analyze the influence of the Shared Christian Praxis (SCP) catechesis model on the active participation of young Catholics in Santo Yohanes De Brito Community, Santo Yosep Bambu Pemali Parish. The research used a quantitative approach with a regression analysis model. The research sample consisted of 60 young Catholics with data collection using questionnaires. The results showed that (1) there is a significant influence of the SCP catechesis model on the active participation of young Catholics with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05; (2) the contribution of the SCP catechesis model to the active participation of young Catholics is 97%, while 3% is influenced by other variables not examined; (3) solutions that can be used to increase the active participation of young Catholics are by increasing cooperation between parents, community leaders, parish priests, and members to organize programmed youth activities. This research provides important implications for developing effective faith formation models for young Catholics to increase their active participation in church life.

Abstract

This study aims to determine: (1) the influence of reading interest on cognitive learning outcomes of 4th and 5th grade students at YPPK Sacred Heart Elementary School Kelapa Lima Merauke; (2) the magnitude of reading interest influence on cognitive learning outcomes; and (3) efforts to increase students' reading interest. The research uses a quantitative approach with regression analysis method. The research population included all 36 students in grades IV and V at YPPK Sacred Heart Elementary School Kelapa Lima Merauke. The sampling technique used was population sampling (entire population as sample). The research instrument was a reading interest questionnaire with 30 statements using a Likert scale, while cognitive learning outcome data was obtained from report card scores for the odd semester of the 2023/2024 academic year. The results showed: (1) there is an influence of reading interest on students' cognitive learning outcomes with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05; (2) the magnitude of the influence of reading interest on cognitive learning outcomes is 31.3% (R² = 0.313), while 68.7% is influenced by other variables not examined; (3) efforts to increase reading interest include: development of school libraries with diverse book collections, implementation of literacy programs, and development of engaging learning methods. The regression equation obtained is Y = 56.759 + 0.172X, which means that each increase of 1 point in reading interest will increase cognitive learning outcomes by 0.172 points.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the reality of divorce in Catholic families and explore efforts to prevent it with reference to Canon 1141. Using a qualitative approach and a literature study method with the sources of books, journals, and the internet, this research reveals various factors that cause divorce in the context of Catholic families. The findings confirm that divorce is not a causeless event, but rather has complex root causes and consequences. Therefore, this research analyzes Canon 1141 as a framework for understanding and potential solutions. The canon, with its emphasis on certain aspects of marriage, is expected to provide light and guidance for Catholic families to face the challenges of maintaining the marriage bond. The findings of this study provide important input for Catholic families to better understand the nature of the sacrament of marriage as a holy bond that is eternal and indissoluble. In addition, the study also recommends increasing the Church's rigor in examining the preparation of couples who are getting married. A more comprehensive and in-depth preparation process is expected to help couples to understand the responsibilities and commitments they assume in a Catholic marriage. This is important to prevent desecration of the sacrament of marriage and minimize the potential for divorce. In conclusion, a deep understanding of the nature of Catholic marriage as a one and forever bond is key in preventing divorce among Catholic families.

Abstract

Catholic marriage is a sacrament requiring continuous accompaniment for young families living their faith amid contemporary challenges. This research analyzes the role of marriage witnesses in developing young Catholic families' faith and formulates optimization strategies. The study employs qualitative approach with case study method at Basic Ecclesial Community (KUB) St. Louise Maria de Montfort, Santa Maria Assumpta Parish. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis involving 15 informants: 5 young couples, 5 marriage witnesses, and 5 pastoral figures. Results show marriage witnesses' role remains symbolic and ceremonial, not yet maximized as active pastoral companions. Main obstacles include lack of witness training, absence of systematic accompaniment guidelines, and minimal synergy between Church structures and KUB. However, significant potential exists among witnesses with spiritual experience and active Church involvement. Research recommends developing special formation programs for marriage witnesses, creating family faith accompaniment modules based on local needs, and strengthening pastoral cooperation to optimize witnesses' function in accompanying young Catholic families' faith growth.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the role of young people as an integral and active part of contemporary church life based on theological approaches and Christian spirituality in the light of the apostolic document Christus Vivit by Pope Francis. This research uses a library research method with primary data in the form of Catholic Church documents, especially Christus Vivit, as well as relevant theological and pastoral references. The analysis technique is done through textual study and theological reflection. The results of the study show that young people are seen as subjects of the Church today who have great potential in realizing spiritual and pastoral renewal. Their spirituality is shaped by a personal relationship with the living Christ, active involvement in the community, and a missionary spirit. The findings confirm that the Church needs to open a wider space for the involvement of young people as part of the dynamics of evangelization in the midst of the challenges of the times.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of local language as a mediator in learning Catholic Religion for students of SD YPPK St. Samuel Mokbiran in Boven Digoel Regency, South Papua Province. The background of this research is the limited mastery of Indonesian language by students who are more fluent in Muyu Kawiyet local language. Qualitative research method was used with data collection through observation and interview. The results show that the use of local language in the learning process helps students understand religious materials better, especially the main prayers of Catholicism. However, it also hinders their mastery of Indonesian, which impacts on their overall academic development. This study suggests the increased use of bilingual approaches and the provision of more adequate learning facilities to overcome this problem.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the theological concept of caritas in Catholic Church teachings and evaluate its impact on shaping interfaith relations and social action in a pluralistic society. The approach used is qualitative-reflective with a literature study method on Church documents, the Holy Scriptures, and pastoral and social theology literature. The author also examines the practical implementation of the Catholic Church's charitable works in Indonesia, which involve interfaith cooperation. The results of the study show that caritas, as unconditional love, is not only a teaching of faith but also an ethical foundation that encourages the Church to build dialogue, cooperation, and social solidarity amid diversity. These findings confirm that the value of caritas can serve as a bridge between religions and strengthen the Church's witness as an inclusive community of love. The article concludes with a suggestion that the Church's pastoral approach should place greater emphasis on fostering the value of caritas as the basis for social transformation and peace.
