Abstract

The content of marine algae Sargassum hystrix includes polysaccharides (alginates), polyphenols, proteins, peptides, amino acids, lipids, minerals, and several vitamins. However, the use of natural ingredients has limitations, namely that it often fails in the clinical phase due to low bioavailability. One effort that can be done to overcome this problem is to formulate nanoparticles using chitosan polymer and sodium tri-polyphosphate. This study aims to formulate nanoparticles from the methanol extract of Sargassum hystrix with various chitosan concentration ratios. The methanol extract of Sargassum hystrix was obtained by extraction using the maceration method with 50% methanol as a solvent. The results of the extract were made colloidal nanoparticles using ionic gelation techniques using a variation of the methanol extract of Sargassum hystrix: chitosan: NaTPP: Tween 80, Formulation 1 (0.75 gram: 0.1% 18 mL: 0.1% 9 mL: 0.5% 3 mL); Formulation 2 (0.75 gram: 0.2% 18 mL: 0.2% 9 mL: 0.5% 3 mL); Formulation 3 (0.75 gram: 0.1% 18 mL: 0.2% 9 mL: 0.5% 3 mL); Formulation 4 (0.75 gram: 0.2% 18 mL: 0.1% 9 mL: 0.5% 3 mL). The nanoparticle colloids formed were characterized by particle size (nm), and the zeta potential (mV), Formula 1 (212.65 ± 45.32; -11.4 ± 5.65), Formula 2 (514.55 ± 56.35; -8.85 ± 1.34), Formula 3 (219.35 ± 43.76; -14.5 ± 1.83), Formula 4 (326.5 ± 3.39; -1.25 ± 17.88). All formulas show that they can form nanoparticle formulas between 1-1000 nm., But the preparation that will be more stable is formula 3 because it has a zeta potential that is close to +/- 30 mV.

Abstract

Hyperglycemia is a condition where blood glucose levels increase above normal. Hyperglycemia is a manifestation of diabetes mellitus (DM). Chronic hyperglycemia in diabetes mellitus has an important role in the damage to various organism, including the heart, gynecological eye, nervous and vascular system, which in turn causes complications of diabetes mellitus. Dragon tail leaf extract (Rhaphidophora pinnata (L.f) Schott) contains several compounds that function to reduce glucose in the blood including flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, steroids and tanins which can inhibit the action of the enzyme α- glucosidase. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving ethanol extract of dragon tail leaves in blood glucose levels and determine the best dose of ethanol extract of dragon tail leaves in reducing blood glucose levels. The samples used were ethanol extract of dragon tail leaves, acarbose as positive control. The study design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments in which each treatment consisted of 7 mice. The treatment groups are K + acarbose solution at a dose of 50 mg / kgBB, P1 extract dose 125 mg / kgBB, P2 extract dose 250 mg / kgBB, and P3 extract dose 375 mg / kgBB. The testing method used is the Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT), which is a standard method in the testing antihiperglycemic effect. Observations were carried out for 120 minutes in the time span of 10; 30; 60; 100 and 120 minutes. The research data were analyzed descriptively and One Way ANOVA test. Based on the analysis of the One Way ANOVA test it was found that there were significant differences for each study treatment (p <0.05). Based on Duncan's further tests it was found that the results of the dragon tail leaf extract had antihiperglycemic effect. The best dose of ethanol extract of dragon tail leaves in percent reduction is dose III 375 mg / KgBB with a percent decrease (38,79%). Then followed by dose II 250 mg/KgBB with a percent decrease (17,01%) anf dose I 125 mg/KgBB with percent decrease (5,325%). So it can be concluded that the ethanol extract of dragon tail leaves has effectiveness as an antihiperglycemia.

Abstract

Pandan leaves have the effect of increasing the immune system so that it is necessary to develop the potential of pandan leaves as a medicinal preparation in the form of a suspension. The purpose of this study was to determine the secondary metabolites contained in pandan leaves and the best suspension formula in terms of the physical properties of the pandan leaf juice suspension (Pandanus amaryllifolius Roxb.). Three formulas for the suspension of Pandan leaf juice were made, the formula I used CMC suspending agent, formula II used cassava starch, formula III used CMC: cassava starch then carried out a physical test for the suspension of Pandan leaf juice including organoleptic test, pH, specific gravity, viscosity, and sedimentation. The next step is to determine the best formula in terms of the physical properties of the pandan leaf juice suspension. The secondary metabolites contained in pandan leaves through qualitative tests are flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, tannins, and terpenoids. Formula I have a pH of 7, a specific gravity of 1.043, a viscosity of 20.57, and a sedimentation volume of 0, formula II has a pH of 7, a specific gravity of 1.049, a viscosity of 10.58, and a sedimentation volume of 0.75, while formula III has a pH of 8, specific gravity 1.053, viscosity 26.27, and sedimentation volume 0.975. The best formula in terms of the physical properties of the pandan leaf juice suspension (Pandanus amaryllifolius Roxb.) Is formula I with Carboxy Methyl Cellulose (CMC) as a suspending agent.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the deadliest diseases in the world. As many as 1 billion people in the world or 1 in 4 adults suffer from this disease. In fact, it is estimated that the number of hypertension sufferers will increase to 1.6 billion by 2025. Measuring the quality of life of hypertensive patients using the Indonesian version of the EQ5D questionnaire. The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of life of hypertensive patients at RSUD Ulin Banjarmasin using the EQ5D instrument. This study is an observational study conducted prospectively. Data were collected by filling out the EQ5D questionnaire by all hypertensive patients at the Internal Medicine Department at Ulin Hospital Banjarmasin. The research sample is part of the population that meets the inclusion and exclusion criteria with the simple random method. The inclusion criteria were patients aged 18-65 years and willing to take part in the study. Meanwhile, the exclusion criteria were pregnant, blind and deaf, only the patient's family and absent at the second visit. This research was conducted at the Internal Medicine Polyclinic of Ulin Hospital from March-June 2020. Based on the research that has been done, it was found that the average value of the quality of life of hypertension patients at Ulin Banjarmasin Hospital, the average value of quality of life was 0.792, with a quality of life value ≥ 0.792 as many as 19 patients (63.33%) in the category of good quality of life and value quality of life ≤ 0.792 as many as 11 patients (36.67%) in the poor quality of life category.

Abstract

Kalamansi orange with the Latin name Citrofortunella microcarpa is an agricultural commodity that has been widely developed in Bengkulu Province. This study aims to determine the anti-bacterial activity of hand washing soap containing kalimansi orange juice against pathogenic bacteria, one of which is the bacteria S. aureus and E. Coli. The method used in this research is disc paper diffusion. The results of the antibacterial activity test were marked by the formation of a clear area around the disc paper on the media, the largest diameter of inhibition for S. aureus bacteria was given by F2, namely 30.595 mm and the largest diameter of inhibition for E. coli bacteria, which was given by F3, namely 28, 98mm so that it gets a very strong category. When compared to the comparator handsoap in the market HSFFLS @ the inhibitory power of hand washing soap from kalimansi orange juice was also greater both against S.aureus and E. Coli bacteria. The results of the inhibitory activity test between gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria showed that hand washing soap containing kalimansi orange juice had a greater potential for S. aureus gram-positive bacteria compared to Gram-negative bacteria E. Coli.

Abstract

Asthma is a non-communicable respiratory disease that can pose a risk of mortality and morbidity. Asthma is a long-term disease that carries the risk of drug-related problems (DRP). This study aims to analyze drug-related problem (MTP) in outpatient asthma treatment. This study used a cross-sectional analysis method using purposive sampling technique, carried out at a Pratama pharmacy in Wonokromo district, Surabaya City. The research sample was adult outpatient asthma patients who underwent treatment at the pharmacy from November 2018 to January 2019. Data were analyzed using GINA and Classification for Drug related problems. The results showed that of the 40 respondents the DRP was 34 respondents (85.00%). The domain related to the effectiveness is that the drug effect is not optimal (88.24%) and other drugs are not needed (11.76%) and the cause of drug selection is the improper combination of drugs (2.87%). And the associated therapy was most involved in DRP events. Outpatient asthma drug use was the most associated therapy for the short acting beta 2 agonist class of drugs. Therefore, inpatient asthma treatment requires monitoring by a pharmacist to achieve optimal treatment.

Abstract

Medicine supply is one of the biggest components of budget expenditures at hospitals, so medicines must be managed effectively and efficiently according to Pharmaceutical Service Standards at hospitals. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the management of medicines in the Pharmacy Installation at Manembo Nembo Bitung Type C Hospital according to the standard of Permenkes Number 72 of 2016. This is descriptive research by taking data through interviews and observations. The result showed that the selection of medicines was based on the hospital formulary as well as the planning of consumption methods according to the budget of Manembo Nembo Bitung Type C Hospital. The procurement of medicines was carried out by the PPK team in the North Sulawesi Province through the e-catalog and or auction system. The receipt was carried out by the recipient team of Manembo Nembo Bitung Type C Hospital according to the order letter. Storage in the Pharmacy Installation of hospital drug warehouse is carried out by warehouse personnel. Distribution to outpatient using an individual prescribing system while inpatient using the UDD (Unit Dose Dispensing) system. Annihilation of medical waste and expired medicines is carried out every year through a third party. Medicines withdrawal is carried out by distributors through official circulars from BPOM. Stocktaking is done routinely by pharmacists. The administration of pharmaceutical activities is recorded by administrative staff and reported to the Head of IFRS and internal evaluation through monthly meetings. In conclusion, the management of medicines in Pharmacy Installation at Manembo Nembo Bitung Type C Hospital is following the standard of Permenkes Number 72 of 2016, but it still needs improvement in the controlling of medicine ordering time in the procurement process, special scheduling of pharmacists in clinical services and services in pharmacies due to limited human resources, recording and reporting that still done manually, and in evaluating that is limited to daily activities.

Abstract

Community Health Center (puskesmas) is the basic service health facility in Indonesia. Community Health Center organizes individual health efforts and community health efforts that must be supported by a quality pharmaceutical care. Pharmaceutical care at health center must comply with Pharmaceutical Care Standards. This study aims to determine the performance and quality of pharmaceutical care at Baqa Health Center according to Permenkes no 74/2016 and Permenpan 14/2017. This research is a descriptive research. Respondents were 306 patients who received pharmaceutical care at Baqa Health Center. The data collected were patient satisfaction level, measurement of the average time for drug compounding, the average time for drug delivery and drug information administration, and the percentage of compliance with the service standards. The results showed that the quality of pharmaceutical care at Baqa Community Health Center was 93.33% in the good category, and the performance value of pharmaceutical care at the Baqa Community Health Center was 81.09 in the good category.

Abstract

Inflammation is a body mechanism for destroy and disable organism that attack accompanied by inflammation with perfect healing process, inflammation can be treated with anti-inflammatory drugs non steroid and steroid. But that’s have an effects. Bawang dayak (Eleutherine palmifolia (L) Merr) contain flavonoid used to anti inflammatory. The objective to knowing anti-inflammatory effect of extract bawang dayak to incision wounds in male white rats. There is 5 method to used, that positive control with krim hidrokortison 2,5%, negative control with basis cream. Group 1 with give KEEBD 5%, group 2 with give KEEBD 10% and group 3 with KEEBD 15%. The test result used the Shapiro-wilk with one way anova (α=0,05) giving cream extract ethanol Bawang dayak (KEEBD) has an anti-inflammatory effect and closes the length of the cut with the most effective concrentration of 15%

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the anti-inflammatory effect of seagrass (Enhalus acoroides) leaves on male mice (Mus musculus). The type of research used is the RAL method (completely randomized design). Male mice (Mus musculus) were divided into 5 treatment groups including group 1 being mice given 1% Na.CMC suspension as a negative control, group 2 being mice given seagrass leaf extract (Enhalus acoroides) 75 mg/kgBW, group 3 being mice. given 100 mg/kgBW of seagrass leaf extract (Enhalus acoroides), group 4 was mice given 125 mg/kgBW of seagrass leaf extract (Enhalus acoroides) and group 5 was mice given 50 mg of diclofenac sodium as a positive control. The anti-inflammatory test was induced with 1% carrageenan, the volume of edema that occurred after treatment was measured by dipping it into a plestimometer for every 30, 60, 90, 120 minute intervals for 7 days. After that, the percentage decrease in the edema volume parameter was observed. The data were analyzed using the One Way Anova test and continued with the LSD post hoc test. The ethanolic extract of seagrass (Enhalus acoroides) leaves showed that it could reduce the volume of edema in the feet of mice (Mus musculus) at concentrations of 75 mg/kgBW, 100 mg/kgBW, and 125 mg/kgBW by showing a significant difference with the negative control group (p < 0.05). The anti-inflammatory effect of the ethanolic extract of seagrass (Enhalus acoroides) leaves on male mice (Mus musculus) showed effective results in reducing the volume of edema in the legs of mice (Mus musculus).
