At the same time, college or other organizations are expected to be driven by the community that will be able to show the acceleration performance of science and technology. Thus, the existence ofthe community and the world are taken based on the ability to access knowledge and technology developments in the application of learning and readiness. In Indonesia, Islamic educations institutions such as private universities strive to be able to offer the appropriate programs with community and customers. In order to build the equivalence between the rapid development of science and technology, all the faculty members through various programs are continued to increase their knowledge. Academic staffs will be able to enhance their knowledge as on an ongoing basis when the universities perform an alysis of the need for academic skills, high working. Follow upon the results of the analysis skills needs to be realized throughout the academic programs of formal education or informal. Abstract

Higher order thinking skills are one of the thinking skills needed in the 21st century. HOTS can make students more critical, creative and innovative in solving problems. Students with HOTS can distinguish clear ideas, clear opinions, solve problems, formulate explanations well and understand complicated things become clear. However, the actual ability of HOT students is still low seen from their difficulties in solving HOTS problems. Therefore, this study aimed to describe students' difficulties in solving HOTS problems in algebra. This type of research was qualitative with descriptive method. The subjects of this study consisted of three students in the eighth grade at one of the junior high school in Banda Aceh. The instruments used were tests and interviews. The results showed that difficulties in understanding the information and questions given, the difficulty of finding patterns and relationships, difficulty in manipulating algebraic forms, lack of prerequisite materials, difficulty in solving equations that had been made, difficulties in understanding images in the form of information, difficulties in presenting images in the form of symbols or equations and difficulties in distinguishing the two-variable linear equation material and the two-variable linear equation system. By knowing the difficulties of students, it is expected that teachers and schools can provide learning that can reduce difficulties and develop HOTS abilities to enter the 21st century. Keywords: difficulty, higher order thinking skills, algebra.

The study employs qualitative approach which is intended to develop and build a theory about EFL thesis advisor effectiveness by means of grounded theory method. The data were obtained from 15 EFL graduate students through in-depth interview. The obtained data were analyzed by using three techniques namely open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. From the respondents’ accounts, the results showed that good thesis advisors should have good technical knowledge consisting of two main qualities namely adequacy of English proficiency and adequacy of content knowledge. To conclude, good EFL thesis advisors must be at advanced level of English language skills and have good ability of appropriate content knowledge covering English grammar, syntax, linguistic, phonology, language and culture, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, error analysis and discourse analysis. Keywords: EFL thesis advisors, English proficiency, content knowledge.

Abstract

The purpose of these papers is to find out if government spending sectors of education and health sectors, household consumption for food and poverty levels against the human development index in Indonesia. The type of data used in this research is time series data from 2009 until 2013 obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics Indonesia. Hypothesis testing of the value of F-count is 426.419 with a significant level of 0.002. While F table at 95% confidence level (α = 0.05) is 19.25. Since both calculations are F-count F- table and its significance level 0.002 0.05 indicates that the independent variables are Government Education Expenditure (X1), Government Health Expenditure (X2), Household Consumption for Food (X3), and Poverty Rate (X4) , simultaneously is a significant influence on the dependent variable that is HDI (Y) year 2010-2016.The results of this research is government spending on healthcare and education sectors, household consumption for food and poverty levels have an effect on the human development index in Indonesia.

Abstract

This paper is concerned with providing a literature review regarding the use of critical theory in accounting research. In Indonesian context, critical theory has not commonly used to study accounting issues. The fact that both accounting practice and accounting education continue to be  undermined  by  a  single  prevailing  worldview  coming  from  Anglo-American capitalism promoting maximizing shareholder value. The paper argued that given the underlying context of accounting, critical theory is so important to be adopted in order to be able to challenge the prevailing dominant paradigm and at the same time providing alternative perspective. The alternative could be even developed according to indigenous cultural and ethical values. More importanly, critical theory is about providing liberation and emancipation including in the area of accounting.
