Abstract

This article aims to increase the perception, experience, and communication of the young generation of Pontianak City in maintaining the cleanliness of the Kapuas River. The most considerable pollution of the river comes from household waste. River hygiene socialization often involves the people of riverside areas, as if they are the ones responsible for river cleanliness. The river cleanup action so far is also considered just ceremonial. This P.K.M. (community service) focuses on two activities: the digital campaign and the collective movement #AksiBersihSungaiKapuas. The digital campaign is carried out ten days ahead of World Environment Day. It contains education and recordings of the actual actions of Pontianak’s Young Generation. 134 digital campaigns are using the hashtag #AksiNyataBersihSungaiKapuas. Meanwhile, the Collective Movement is held on World Environment Day every June 5. A total of 2 tons of garbage was collected in the Kapuas River clean-up action. Plastic waste, water hyacinth, and household waste are the most common. The young generation of Pontianak City is not only a spectator but a subject in education and disseminating the habit of maintaining the cleanliness of the Kapuas River environment.

Abstract

Pumice is relatively abundant in Indonesia, especially in Cicurug District, Sukabumi. Pumice has unique characteristics, so it has the potential to be an alternative bleaching agent or a bleacher for crude palm oil. Bleaching is one of the stages in processing crude palm oil into palm cooking oil. In the cooking oil industry, the bleaching of crude palm oil generally uses bentonite as a bleacher. This research aims to determine the characteristics of pumice and the optimum conditions for the bleaching process of crude palm oil with pumice as a bleacher. The research method consists of pumice activation, activated pumice characterization, degumming of crude palm oil, bleaching of crude palm oil, and analysis of processed palm oil. The results show that the metal oxide composition in activated pumice is dominated by silica (62.99%) and alumina (14.79%) and has a non-uniform pore size distribution. Optimum bleaching conditions are achieved when using 30% pumice and a bleaching temperature of 105 oC for 30 minutes. Under optimal bleaching conditions, pumice can reduce the color brightness level of crude palm oil from 600 to 125 mg/L Pt, or a bleaching power of 79.2%.

Abstract

Abstract. The development of technology at this time causes competition in the accessories and fashion industry. This situation has caused an increase in the number of requests for products at Fanri Collection, a producer of leather craft accessories. To survive and win the competition, companies need to increase productivity. One way of resolving the issue is by designing the layout and production facilities to minimize the distance of material handling in the production process. This research aims to design layout and production facilities on wallet products with the Discrete Event Simulation (DES) method using FlexSim 21.0 software and Activity Relationship Chart (ARC) to analyze the amount of output and get a proposed facility layout. Based on the simulation results, in producing 200 units of wallets, the initial total material handling distance is 20.667 meters with a cycle time of 1 day, 5 hours, and 3 minutes. After making improvements with ARC, the total material handling distance is reduced to 17.475 meters with a cycle time of 1 day, 4 hours, and 48 minutes. Thus, the improvement can minimize material handling distance by 3.192 meters and reduce cycle time by about 15 minutes.

Abstract

Local wisdom is essential in urban development planning by bringing cultural values. Local wisdom in housing and settlements forms special characteristics both in spatial and social aspects. Chinatown is a form of residential area created by Chinese community groups. Sudiroprajan Chinatown Village is the center of Chinese settlement which is also located in the economic center area of Surakarta City. The method used in this research is qualitative with literature study, observation, description and analysis of settlement character based on physical and non-physical characteristics. Chinatown Village has a linear pattern following the road and is influenced by feng shui in arranging the interior and exterior of housing. Most residents in Sudiroprajan Chinatown Village work in the trade and services sector, namely by opening businesses in house buildings or at Pasar Gede. The temple is also the worship centre for Chinese residents in Chinatown Village. The local wisdom found in Chinatown Village influences other activities, such as the emergence of economic activities and cultural tourism. This shows that local wisdom influences the character and condition of settlements physically and non-physically.

Abstract

The Village SDGs refer to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, a set of global goals set to achieve sustainable development by 2030. Goal 18 of the Village SDGs focuses on the importance of addressing economic inequality and ensuring that economic growth does not only involve a few people but also benefits the entire village community. This goal can be realized by developing Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) that have a strategic role in driving economic development at the village level through engaging and strengthening human resources by encouraging active participation of village communities. This research aims to identify problems in the development of BUMDes and to formulate a BUMDes development plan in accordance with the potential of local resources in villages in Bangka Regency. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive approach using primary and secondary data. The data analysis technique uses SWOT analysis consisting of Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. This research shows that there are components that need to be developed to make BUMDes a driver of the village economy, namely strengthening village human resources, establishing an active and responsive organizational structure, and collaboration of various parties including academics that can increase the positive impact on BUMDes.

Abstract

Sustainable urban spaces are the right of every urban dweller. As an eminent user of urban spaces, the preferences of citizens need to be considered in developing an urban environment. Urban dweller preferences include various aspects, which include their favourite activities and hobbies. Citizen’s favourite activities and hobbies are commonly accommodated by establishing urban communities. Consequently, these communities should be able to provide recommendations for ensuring effective and efficient sustainable development. This study aims to formalize the connection between reasonable development based on urban community activities. Bandung Raid Party was the urban community elected for this study in consideration of their direct interaction with urban spaces, their members coming from various backgrounds, and their ripe age in comparison with other similar communities. Key data and information are gathered through literature study and structured interviews with strategic actors from the community, which are later analyzed using content analysis. After comprehensive analysis and consideration, the research shows how the Bandung Raid Party community observes and appreciates the quality of urban spaces where they hold their activities. The study also shows that their activities can be supported by developing and improving sustainable pedestrian access, public spaces, and urban iconic landmarks. These findings can be initial evidence of how urban communities can provide significant input for sustainable urban development.

Abstract

Climate change has impacts on a broad spectrum of challenges, including social, economic, and environmental problems. The impacts of climate change on human health include increases in respiratory, vector-borne, and zoonotic diseases. The research focuses on one aspect of supporting human health that is often ignored in the climate change adaptation process: infrastructure planning. This article discusses this problem through a review of various research/literature which is grouped thematically with case studies in Indonesia. Based on a thematic discussion, it was found that the research that had been carried out still lacks on spatial studies of infrastructure planning’s discussion, especially those related to health-supporting infrastructure in the climate change era. These findings can ultimately provide a lot of input on research themes related to the importance of infrastructure planning as an intermediary towards a healthy and resilient society against climate change.
