Abstract

 Digitalization is one of the important factors and has become a primary need in improving the competitiveness of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), especially in the era of technology-based economic transformation. However, many home-based MSMEs in Sungai Aur sub-district still face challenges in adopting e-commerce technology, such as lack of technical understanding, limited resources and lack of access to affordable technology solutions and access to relevant solutions. This research aims to design an open source-based platform using openchart, tailored to the local needs of MSMEs, to improve their digital competitiveness and adapt to the changing modern business landscape and expand their market reach. This research uses a Research and Development (R&D) method that involves a needs analysis. The needs analysis was conducted through interviews with home-based MSME players in Sungai Aur sub-district to identify and understand their constraints and specific expectations and needs. Next, a prototype e-commerce platform was designed using a user-centered design approach to ensure ease of use and relevance of features. The results and research show that the designed openchart-based platform is able to meet the needs of MSMEs in product management, transactions and digital marketing, and also this platform improves the operational efficiency of MSMEs and expands their market reach. Findings. The findings of this research are that the development of an openchart-based e-commerce platform using the R&D method can be an effective solution in helping home-based MSMEs in Sungai Aur sub-district transform towards digital, while strengthening their competitiveness in the wider market.

Abstract

In today's digital era, the development of technology and communication has brought significant changes in various aspects of life, and also includes the business world. One form of innovation that has emerged is e-commerce, which allows businesses to promote their products online. In Lubuk Tarok sub-district, there are still many Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that have produced a handicraft made of mahogany wood, but still face challenges in increasing the sales of their products. Therefore, this research aims to design an e-commerce platform that can help MSMEs in Lubuk Tarok sub-district in increasing the sales of the handicraft products they produce. In this study we used the R&D (Research and Development) approach, this R&D research is a basic research activity to obtain information on user needs (needs assessment), then continued development activities (development) to produce products and test the effectiveness of these products. This research uses the 4D development model, namely Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. At the Define stage, we conducted a needs analysis and identified the problems faced by WoodZone MSMEs in the Lubuk Tarok sub-district. At the Design stage, here we design an e-commerce platform architecture that suits the needs of MSMEs. At the Develop stage, we develop an e-commerce platform using OpenCart as a content management system that makes it easy to manage products, categories, and transactions. At the Desseminate stage, we conduct product testing and implementation of the e-commerce platform that has been developed and created. This research results in showing that with this e-commerce platform that has been designed using OpenCart, WoodZone MSMEs in Lubuk Tarok sub-district can more easily market the handicraft products they produce to a wider range of consumers. The features provided in this platform, such as the online payment system, inventory management, and sales analysis, which make it easy for WoodZone MSME players to run their businesses. In addition, this platform is also equipped with promotion and marketing features that can increase product visibility in the online market. The impact of this research aims to provide solutions to marketing problems carried out by MSMEs that are just starting to enter the world of digital media in the process of marketing products to consumers in a wider range.

Abstract

Advances in information technology are currently developing very rapidly. The affordable combination of software and hardware is designed to meet a wide range of user needs. With the support of modern technology, it is now easier for users to obtain information and carry out transactions, equivalent to traditional methods. An example of the application of this technology is through the E-Commerce platform. E-commerce is an attractive option due to its significant advantages. In addition to making it easier for customers to see products directly, e-commerce also makes it possible to record all business activities efficiently, so as to become a solution that supports business sustainability in service activities for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) in Palupuah Sub-district, Agam District. The goal is to increase the promotional power of household products and support global marketing communication so that customers can easily get the products they want. This research uses a Research and Development (R&D) model with a 4D development model, namely Define, Design, Develop and Decemination. The results of this research are in the form of a web-based promotional media with the help of Opencart application features, where the findings of this research show that Opencart is a supporting media that is able to increase the competitiveness of UMKM products in Palupuah sub-district, Agam district.

Abstract

Medan, North Sumatra, has great potential in the development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), especially in home industries that produce local speciality products. However, challenges such as limited market access and low utilisation of digital technology are the main obstacles for MSME players in expanding marketing reach and increasing competitiveness. This research aims to design OpenCart-based digital promotional media as an innovative solution in supporting the development of MSMEs in the region. The research was conducted using the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) approach. At the analysis stage, the needs of MSME players and product characteristics were identified to ensure a relevant and effective solution. The design stage involves creating an OpenCart-based system designed to support product catalogues, online payment systems, as well as integration with social media. Next, the development stage realised key features tailored to user needs. System implementation is done through direct testing with MSME players in Medan. Finally, the evaluation stage measures the effectiveness of the platform through user feedback and sales data analysis. The results show that OpenCart-based digital promotion media can significantly increase the visibility of MSME products. Within the first three months, businesses reported an increase in sales of up to 25% thanks to the use of this platform. This research concludes that OpenCart-based digital promotional media can be a strategic step to support the digital transformation of MSMEs, improve competitiveness, and expand their marketing reach in the digital era.

Abstract

Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) play an important role in the local economy, especially in the production of Minangkabau souvenirs, such as traditional foods that attract tourists. However, MSMEs in Kecamatan VII Koto Sungai Sariak still market their Minangkabau souvenir products traditionally through physical stores, which can limit market reach and the potential for increased sales. This condition can actually be overcome by utilizing technological advances, namely by developing a digital-based promotion system to expand access to the global market. This research aims to design a web-based promotion system using the OpenCart platform designed to support the marketing of typical Minangkabau souvenir products by MSMEs in District VII Koto Sungai Sariak. This research uses a Research and Development (R&D) methodology with a 4D approach consisting of four stages: Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The Define stage involved needs analysis through interviews and observations to identify traditional marketing problems. At the Design stage, the system was designed by incorporating the features needed to digitize the marketing process of typical Minangkabau souvenir products. At the Develop stage, OpenCart was used to create a prototype of the system, which was then validated for validity and usability. Then the Disseminate stage involves the implementation and evaluation of the system among MSME players to measure its effectiveness in increasing sales. The results showed that the designed OpenCart-based promotion system is valid, practical, and effective in increasing the marketability of MSME products. The research findings indicate that MSMEs in Kecamatan VII Koto Sungai Sariak can use digital platforms such as OpenCart to strategically overcome conventional marketing barriers and improve the competitiveness of Minangkabau souvenir products in the international market. Overall, by maximizing technology in product promotion, this approach helps MSMEs deal with difficulties in the face of globalization and drives local economic progress.

Abstract

This article discusses the importance of designing craft products in the context of home industry and e-commerce, as well as practical steps for developing products that can be sold online. Although many micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) owners have not utilized online media for promotion, this research shows that implementing the OpenCart platform can increase product visibility. Current conditions show that MSME owners often lack confidence in marketing products online, which results in limited market reach. Using the Research and Development (R&D) methodology through the Define, Design, Develop and Dissemination model, this research produces web-based promotional media using the OpenCart application. The findings show that OpenCart functions as an effective supporting tool to increase the competitiveness of home industry products in the region. The implications of this research are the ability of MSMEs to be known outside the region, increase competitiveness in product promotion, and strengthen human resources to be able to compete globally. Thus, it is hoped that this article can inspire entrepreneurs to take advantage of opportunities in the e-commerce market. Technological developments have brought changes to product marketing and sales, especially for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This research aims to develop an E-Commerce based sales strategy for MSMEs in the craft sectors in Padang City, as an effort to increase competitiveness and expand market access.

Abstract

Digital transformation has provided significant opportunities for MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) entrepreneurs to utilize and leverage technology in expanding their visibility and product competitiveness. However, in Pariaman City, Padang Pariaman Regency still faces significant challenges in providing and maintaining adequate promotional media for MSME business owners, particularly for snack-related products. It is evident that the limited use of various digital platforms as effective promotional media hinders the development potential for broader marketing growth. This research was conducted to design an Opencart-based promotion system that can serve as a digital marketing medium to assist MSME entrepreneurs. The research methodology employed the R&D (Research and Development) approach with a development model consisting of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The research resulted in a web-based digital platform specifically designed to address the gaps and needs of MSME players in Pariaman City. This research has undergone validation stages and has proven effective in improving product accessibility and availability in digital marketing. The findings confirm that Opencart is an excellent solution capable of meeting the digital promotion needs and addressing the shortcomings of MSMEs. Through this platform, MSME entrepreneurs can utilize technology for broader marketing reach, increased efficiency, and strengthened product competitiveness. The results of this research are expected to help encourage digital market innovation by MSME players and provide positive impacts on economic development in this digital era.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has significantly influenced business strategies, including in the field of Islamic economics. However, the integration of sharia principles with digital business practices poses unique challenges, such as maintaining compliance with Islamic values while embracing innovation and entrepreneurship. This study aims to address the issue of how Islamic economic institutions in Indonesia can effectively implement business strategy control, innovation, and entrepreneurship to thrive in the digital era. Using a qualitative-descriptive method, the research involved an in-depth analysis of data collected from Islamic financial institutions, entrepreneurs, and policymakers. The study identifies key strategies for aligning digital innovation with sharia principles, focusing on the roles of strategic control, technological innovation, and entrepreneurship as essential components. The findings reveal that Islamic economic institutions can enhance their competitiveness by adopting comprehensive strategy control mechanisms, fostering technological innovation in products and services, and encouraging entrepreneurship that upholds Islamic ethical values. The integration of these three elements not only ensures operational efficiency and compliance but also creates a sustainable and competitive sharia-based economic ecosystem. This research contributes to the literature by offering practical recommendations for strengthening collaboration between stakeholders, such as governments, academia, and industry players, to develop inclusive digital innovations within the framework of Islamic economics. By doing so, this study highlights the potential of Islamic economic principles to serve as a foundation for sustainable economic development in Indonesia in the digital era.

Abstract

Designing an E-Commerce Platform for Home Industry on Typical Minang Souvenirs with a Focus on Opencart as a Marketing Solution in Lima Puluh Kotse Regency aims to Design an E-commerce platform that can help Home Industry players in Lima Puluh city in marketing typical Minang souvenir products more effectively and efficiently. This article also aims to provide easier access for consumers to purchase typical Minang souvenir products through a platform built using opencart. Product marketing so far still uses a manual system and its reach is still not wide to be known to the wider community, only known by the surrounding community. Whereas in today's digital era Home Industry marketing can be recognised by the wider community using online sales media social media through sales sites on the internet. The research method applied is the Research and Develop (R&D) model, using needs analysis, system design, and prototype testing. The results of this study indicate that the development of an e-commerce platform using OpenCart for the Kahs Minang sanjai food home industry in Lima Puluh Kota Regency has succeeded in increasing marketing and sales effectiveness. The designed system facilitates transactions, allows users to access product information quickly, and provides transactions, allows to access product information quickly, and provides accurate sales reports. With this platform, businesses can reach a wider market and increase customer satisfaction through the convenience of online shopping. Overall, the implementation of e-commerce contributes to business growth and sustainability of local industries.

Abstract

This research aims to design a digital collaboration hub in order to support the development of typical West Sumatran culinary products, especially sanjai minang, and introduce Aceh Coffee in the ICommerce era. Sanjai Minang, as one of the typical culinary products originating from Limapuluh kota district, has great potential to develop and introduce the distinctive taste of Minangkabau to a wider market, both domestically and internationally. On the other hand, Aceh coffee is also known for its high quality and rich flavours, which can compete in the global market. However, the biggest challenge faced by businesses of both products is the lack of access to wider markets and limitations in utilising digital technology. Therefore, this research proposes a digital collaboration hub platform that integrates various parties such as culinary entrepreneurs. By using the Research and Development (R&D) approach. The R&D method used consists of five main stages: (1) problem identification and product development potential, (2) digital hub design involving various features to support collaboration, marketing, and distribution, (3) hub prototype development, (4) implementation and field trials, and (5) evaluation and continuous improvement. It is expected that the results of this research can provide significant contributions to the development of typical Sumatran culinary products through the use of digital platforms integrated with the ICommerce ecosystem, while increasing the competitiveness of local products in the global market.
