Abstract

This study was conducted to examine the relationship between Depression, Stress and Anxiety with Mental Health among Teachers. Depression, Stress, Anxiety Scale (21 item) was used to collect the information from the participants developed by Lovibond and Lovibond (1995), Secondly, Mental Health Index Scale was used to study mental health of teacher developed by Veit and Ware (1983). Sample was comprised of 200 participants from different schools, colleges (government, private) and University of Haripur. Data was collected through convenience sampling technique with door to door survey and hypotheses were analyzed by using t test, descriptive statics, and Pearson correlation. Hypothesis of this study were supported. According to the current study, mental health and its sub-dimensions such as life satisfaction, psychological wellbeing was negatively correlated with depression, anxiety and stress. Likewise mental health and its sub dimensions such as loss of behavior and psychological distress were positively related with stress. Female instructors were more likely than male teachers to feel depression anxiety and stress which turnout to have negative impact on their mental health. The current study aimed to see if teachers' greater rates of depression, anxiety, and stress are linked to reports of mental health. The current study's findings may help psychologists and administrators better understand the requirements of the teacher population by identifying the levels and impacts of depression, anxiety, and stress on teachers. Possible interventions and policy changes may, in turn, reduce teacher burnout and increase teacher mental health status as well as improvements of students’ performance.

Abstract

All of us, at some point in our lives, build an illusionary interaction with our favourite personalities which is all about one-sided affection and admiration for that favorite persona. That interaction is academically named Parasocial interaction. In the past, various studies confirm the impact of drama on its audience and how this impact changes their attitudes and behaviors. This study examines the impact of drama on its audiences' in the context of Parasocial Interaction (PSI). A case study of Ertugrul Ghazi has been taken in this regard as this drama, at the time of research, got the highest viewer ship in Pakistan. This paper revisited parasocial interaction theory and scrutinized PSI between a viewer and the drama character. The paper study the PSI between Facebook group members and drama characters. Qualitative content analysis has been used to explore PSI between social media users (who watch drama series and are also active on Facebook groups for drama series) and drama characters. The themes have been generated and categorized under the level of motivations for PSI e.g., physical, social, and task attraction, and new dimensions for PSI have been explored.

Abstract

This descriptive study was designed to appraise the prevalence of death anxiety and its correlates among older adult. It was conducted on 150 elderly residents of the district Sargodha, who were chosen through multistage sampling. Interview Schedule, Death Anxiety Scale-15, and Coping Style Scale were used as instruments. The findings of the study indicated a pervasive prevalence of death anxiety among elderly. The majority of elderly reported moderate level of death anxiety and slightly less than one forth revealed lower level of death anxiety. The results of T-test analysis showed no variation gender wise and community wise on death anxiety. According to the research findings, both elderly men and women experienced the same level of death anxiety. However, illiterate elderly exhibited more death anxiety as compared to literate elderly. The findings regarding the factors associated with death anxiety indicates that fear of being aged, fear of loneliness, worry about leaving loved ones behind, fear of being destroyed and decaying of dead body after death, lack of religiosity, lower self esteem and poor physical conditions were the correlated factors that caused death anxiety among elderly. Moreover, chi square results revealed that age, qualification, family structure, number of family members (family size) and marital status had significant association with the level of death anxiety. In case of coping, the elderly are more prone to adopt emotion focused coping rather problem solving coping. To alleviate death anxiety in older adults, it is necessary to manage the contributing factors.

Abstract

Education is the fundamental source that not only enhances knowledge but also builds the confidence of an individual. The development of any country utterly depends on its educational system, but unfortunately, the literacy ratio of education is low in Pakistan compared to other countries in Asia. The present study explores the educational disparity against girls based on gender in Pakistan. Geographically Balochistan is the largest province of Pakistan and is instilled with the tribal system. The people of Balochistan strongly follow their cultural values strictly, where the male members of the society are only considered the head of their families. In patriarchal societies, males are authoritative and have the power of decisions over their women. In Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtoon Khaw, females are restricted merely to staying inside the house and strictly prohibited from taking their life’s decisions. Furthermore, the women are deprived of their rights. Education is the source of self-development and helps to progress in the country. The focus of this study is to highlight the educational discrimination against girls. The nature of the study is quantitative, and the respondents were selected from (Arts faculty) of all the degree colleges of Quetta city (capital of Baluchistan) through probability simple random sampling. The sample size was approximately 200 students from all degree colleges. Data were analyzed by the SPSS (Statistical package for social sciences). The p-value of .003 shows the relationship between gender discrimination and educational opportunities. Finally, the results demonstrated that families are not serious and are not paying any concentration on girls’ education. Girls do not have facilities at the family level, and the access to education for girls is not easy due to males’ superiority.

Abstract

Due to the result of globalization, international trade and supply chains have rapidly been witnessed across the borders, which has forced the law makers and jurists to develop legal framework for the issues arising out of fraud involved in transaction of supply and chain. Therefore, this study highlights the disputes arising in the supply chain and explores the reasons for the ineffectiveness of existing mechanism to resolve these conflicts at the national level by critically analyzing existing laws in light of the International Trade Law (ITL) and IL. In this context, this study highlights the major issues and suggest factor which can be incorporated into existing laws. Abstract

Foucault’s notion of surveillance and panoptic gaze is notoriously implied in postmodernist discourse to exercise control and turn individual minds into docile automatic subjects. Both these concepts assert that power and knowledge are produced by the dominant center to demolish self-respect and promises absolute subjugation. This study aims at investigating the relevance of postmodern narratives in questioning the dictatorial as well as despotic role of capitalist powers and the repercussions it can have on individuals. The current research argues that power can also emanate from the periphery to counter the overarching hegemonic notions of authoritative control. Through a detailed analysis of visual narrative, i.e., V for Vendetta, the study revolves around the discursive nature of digital surveillance and the upholding of revolutionary libertarian thoughts and claims that an extreme discipline can lead to extreme forms of disobedience and resistance amongst masses. Foucault’s revolutionary idealism of V in Guy Fawkes Mask is an epitome of universalizing proclivity for political agency and freedom of thought. By employing qualitative research methodology, the study makes an in-depth content analysis of the movie, i.e., V for Vendetta. The research contributes to the literary corpus by digging deep in the implications and repercussions that digitalization of everyday life may result into. The uses of e-governance, though practical, can result in suppression and totalitarian governments. Although the subversion of ideological-cum-institutional repression at the cost of life and self seems deflating, the masses all disguised in mask highlights their anonymity and collective resistance towards the attainment of a utopian world.

Abstract

In the social sciences, assessment of societal attitudes toward animals’ rights is very important to understand the relationship between science and the normative pattern of society. In the present study, a survey was carried out to determine the knowledge and attitude of Pakistani university students toward animal suffering and rights. By reviewing existing literature, limited studies were carried out in Pakistan. A random sampling technique was used in which an online cross-sectional study was conducted, and 200 respondent students participated in the survey from different public-sector universities in the province of Punjab, Pakistan. The data was collected through a web-based questionnaire. The questions were designed to explain the respondents' views toward animals' suffering and rights while keeping in view the cultural and religious perspectives. Study results demonstrated that a surprising majority of students, including ladies and men (55% p 0.05), were not well aware of animal rights. About 49.4% of respondents did not consider it an injustice, while 51.8% considered it right to kill the animals to achieve trophies. Furthermore, it has been observed that about 84% (p 0.05) were in favor of the adoption of pets. The level of attitudes toward animal care varies concerning age, education, and residency in rural or urban areas; however, the trend remains equal in each gender. In short, students do not know about animal rights. Considering how important animal rights are, this study showed that the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan needs to hold workshops and awareness campaigns in universities to teach students about animal rights and how to protect them.

This study implies a significant negative role in asset poverty. Food insecurity on the child health in Pakistan, meaning that if a household is food insecure, that will lead to a high risk of child adverse health problems and vice-versa. Moreover, there are some direct effects of asset poverty on the child's health as they assess the fiat source of finance for the household after a liquid form of monetary assets.
