Abstract

Modal verbs are generally critical in expressing an opinion and assist in the depiction of future events. This work represents and analyzes the function and frequency of modal verbs used in airlines' guidelines during the COVID-19 pandemic. By employing a mixed-methods approach, the corpus was analyzed using Antconc 3.5.8.0. The data were categorized into six components, including ability, possibility, permission, prediction, acknowledgment, and obligation. The findings show that in African and Asian Airlines’ instructions, modal verbs are used to share their opinion related to the instructions for the future. Also, findings reveal that ‘can' and ‘will’ are used to predict possible events. Furthermore, findings show that in European airlines' instructions, the obligatory modal verb ‘must’ is used to enforce their instruction for better comprehension. Additionally, findings also show that Asian writers are more aligned towards using modal verbs than Middle East writers who are least concerned about using modal verbs. The most recurring modal verb used by the writers is their predictive modal verb ‘will’ and the obligatory modal verb ‘must.' This study implies that readers should be conscious of the writer's stance marking since it may affect the mind and exploit ideas.

Abstract

Lust and loyalty are interlinked concepts that have a history as old as that of human beings. Human psychology and emotions have gone through different phases of development, yet these two emotions still exist. Literature being the true depiction of human life is full of stories of the human lust for power and search for loyalty. English writers such as William Shakespeare, Christopher Marlow, and Francis Bacon have highlighted these concepts in their literary oeuvre. These writers have mentioned dimensions of these concepts that are instrumental in laying out the specific instinctual flaws and follies of human beings. This research paper investigates these human characteristics being portrayed through fictionalized and dramatized accounts in the oral sources of literature in Sargodha. The oral sources of literature in Sargodha are interpreted for the exploration of the role of both male and female characters and their emotions in ancient Punjab. The research is qualitative in nature, and the primary source of oral data is collected in a recorded form. Moreover, different genre-specific books, research articles, and online resources have been consulted for the purpose of analysis and discussion. The story of Justice in Jungle is primarily documented and translated into English by the researcher. The findings show that the basic innate potentialities of different cultures and their inhabitants remain unaltered despite the literal uniqueness of the specific regions. The research is innovative in the way that it explores the universal human traits in the documented oral story and thus serves to authenticate the socio-cultural purview of the local oral literature of Pakistan.

Abstract

The compilers are manufactured in such a way that they ignore most comments in software systems' source code. In addition to being a key source of system documentation, code comments are essential for both establishment and improvement. System comments or just quantitative assertions regarding the quality of the program are presently the only known techniques for evaluating software quality. In software development, comments are being used as a regular practice to enhance the clarity of code and to transmit the enthusiasm of programmers in a more conveyed manner. Whereas programmers seldom bother to keep their comments current. Comments are an important source of information about how the framework works. Various disciplines have concentrated on the content of the online client comments in different contexts, utilizing manual quantitative/subjective or (semi-)automatic methods. The wide variety and disciplinary partitions make it hard to get a handle on an outline of those views which have proactively been inspected. The huge number of daily comments inundating the newsroom can be amazing, particularly when a huge chunk is unfriendly or "contaminated" in content and tone. When dealing with complex documents such as source code, it can be hard to link the dots between the practical linguistic information contained within the code as well as the corresponding textual explanation found within the code, making it unsuitable for use in program analysis and mining assignments. Analysis of code comments on software improvement is examined in this research. Studies on code comments have been summarized in this paper, which covers four main areas: relevance of code comments, quality of code comment sources, code comment analysis, as well as a research approach for code comments and difficulties. It provides more comprehensive information for future research by analyzing effective methods for this study issue.

Abstract

The present study investigated the relationship between adults' wisdom, aggression, narcissism, and self-esteem. A purposive sample (N = 300) of adults selected, both male and female, were included in the sample. Narcissism was measured through Narcissistic Personality Inventory (NPI) developed by Robert Raksin and Calvin. Wisdom is measured through Three Dimensional Wisdom Scale (3D-WS) developed by Monika Ardelt 2003. Aggression is measured through Buss and Perry Aggression Scale (BPAQ) developed by Buss and Perry. Self-esteem is measured through Rosen Berg Self-esteem Scale (RBSES) developed by Rosenberg. Descriptive statistics, alpha reliability, Pearson correlation, and t-test were computed to test the hypothesis. Pearson correlation showed a significant correlation between narcissism and self-esteem, the negative correlation of wisdom with aggression, and low self-esteem related to aggression but insignificantly, also a significant difference between wisdom on gender. This study helps mental health practitioners determine adults' overall psychological well-being.

Abstract

In the IoT environment, one of the biggest issues is the devices' anonymity and mobility, i.e., continuously joining and leaving networks. This research aims to explore certain strategies that will enable users to overcome these issues. Fog computing is reclined of central cloud services on multiple points near edge devices. Fog computing creates a decentralized computing architecture that acts as an intermediary between the cloud and the devices producing the data. This decentralized approach enables the users to locate resources in such locations that are closer to the devices. Cloud services are more effective when they are provided with low latency, storage issues are reduced, bandwidth is saved, and QoS is enhanced. Distributed fog nodes can cope with the mobility of edge nodes. Although both edge and fog computing can bring computing processes to such locations where data is created by eliminating the need for central storage, this approach gives rise to unprecedented issues that do not exist in centralized architecture like cloud computing. Anonymity can be addressed by identifying vulnerable devices and evaluating their trust level. This research work proposes a trust management scheme to develop a reliable IoT infrastructure in terms of trust. In the proposed model, trust is evaluated and managed on multiple levels to at the tain quality of services and give customers the confidence to share their confidential data online. This goal will help the users connect to the internet without losing control of their data integrity and confidentiality

Abstract

A foremost debated area in the IT world is Mobile Cloud Computing (MCC) which merges cloud computing and mobile computing; MCC is a prospective technology of mobile services that have been inaugurated together with the fast development in mobile applications and cloud computing technology. MCC is in the early phase of development, so it is essential to have in-depth knowledge of the technology to identify future research. Cloud computing has seen exceptional advancement in the past couple of years regarding its turn of application and development. Thus, development and research in cloud computing are scaling in a positive direction because of the increasing demand for cloud computing. On the other hand, no one is concerned about its effect on mental health. People are more concerned about the privacy, access, and security of their data over the cloud. Users are not aware of the data stored in cloud technology. Therefore, end users are always worried about the security and privacy of personal data. When cloud base services are used, users have mental stress because of the unknown place of the data storage. Consistent use of cloud-based services creates a sense of anxiety among users that are more particular about data privacy. The present article gives a transitory explanation of cloud computing and mobile computing. Applications such as M-healthcare, M-commerce, and M-gaming have been discussed to debate potential applications for mobile cloud computing.

Abstract

This study will try to evaluate the regulatory governance of National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA). The authority was formed in 1997 to overcome the inefficiencies of Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) and Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) (now K-electric) and to improve the power sector through good regulations. Moreover, it was supposed to protect the interests of consumers, investors, and operators equally through its autonomy, professionalism, transparency, and credibility. Furthermore, it must grant licenses, determine tariffs and rates, ensure quality service, provide a feasible environment for privatization, and redress the complaints of electricity consumers. This study incorporates both qualitative and quantitative techniques. That is why, even after 23 years, the authority has not yet overcome the issues in the power industry. The study found that the lack of specialists, the lack of autonomy, and the lack of openness and accountability handicapped the government. This study has tried to highlight those problems which hinder the progress of NEPRA and suggested some policy recommendations for its improvement by granting autonomy, enhancing professionalism, a good complaint readdress mechanism, and inclusive in decision-making. This study has highlighted the most ignored prospects of energy regulations, which the authority has been missing for a long time, for enhancing the regulatory governance of energy.

Abstract

The study was conducted to determine the effect of three organizational skills (lesson planning, communication, and time management) of teachers on their academic optimism, which is defined as “integration of teacher self-efficacy, academic press, and trust in parents and students.” Population of the study was elementary school teachers ESTs of public schools of district Rawalpindi Pakistan. Sample size was 150, and convenient sampling technique was used to gather data from Elementary school teachers. The nature of this research was descriptive and quantitative and based on quantitative research to find the effect of organizational skills of teachers on their academic optimism. Design of this quantitative research is predictive correlation. Dependent and independent variables were measured through a questionnaire. Research tool was questionnaire. Teachers’ organizational skills were measured through a self-developed questionnaire, while Teacher Academic Optimism Scale Elementary (TAOS-E) by Hoy (2001) was used to measure level of optimism. Data was collected through survey and then analyzed using SPSS software to see the quantified result among variables. This study revealed moderate correlation between organizational skills and academic optimism. The regression analysis revealed that there are 32 percent changes. It is suggested that there should be proper in service and pre-service teacher training programs for polishing the organizational skills of teacher, which definitely will improve teaching-learning process. Universities should conduct more research on the factors of academic optimism of teachers. Ways should be identified for improvement of academic optimism levels.
