Abstract

Every company always prioritizes Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), yet workplace accidents that result in permanent disability may still occur. In such cases, workers should not be immediately terminated from employment due to physical impairments caused by work-related accidents. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The results indicate that PT XYZ has demonstrated a commitment to providing protection by not conducting employment termination and instead adjusting job placements (redeployment) for workers who become disabled. However, the company has yet to provide specific training or facilities for disabled workers. Existing laws and regulations such as the 1945 Constitution, Law Number 13 of 2003 concerning Manpower, and other relevant legal instruments are comprehensive in regulating the protection of the rights of workers with disabilities. Nevertheless, their implementation has not been fully realized by all companies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the legal protection for private sector workers in Bandung who bear the full contribution of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, as well as to identify the workers’ rights that are violated due to the company’s non-compliance in paying contributions. The scope of the study includes private sector workers whose contributions are fully borne by themselves, company practices, and the legal mechanisms available to workers. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study, relying on interviews with one worker as primary data and the analysis of legal documents and local and national journal literature as secondary data. The results indicate that workers face various challenges, including limited legal knowledge, restricted access to legal assistance, complicated claim procedures, and fear of losing their jobs, causing many workers to hesitate in claiming their rights. Company practices that fail to pay full contributions violate legal provisions and create socio-economic risks for workers, including the loss of benefits from Old-Age Security, Pension Security, and Work Accident Compensation. The study concludes that there is a need to enhance worker rights education, strengthen government supervision, simplify claim procedures, and provide legal assistance so that legal protection for private sector workers can be effective and fair.

Abstract

Hearing examination in the PT X operation area shows the results of 2 workers experiencing mild deafness, 1 worker experiencing moderate deafness, and 2 workers experiencing severe deafness. Measurement of work environment noise in the PT X operation area at 21 out of 23 points has results exceeding the threshold value in accordance with the Minister of Manpower Regulation Number 5 of 2018. This study aims to analyze the relationship between noise intensity and individual characteristics with hearing loss in workers at PT X. This study used a quantitative method with a cross sectional design. Data were collected from 32 workers who had conducted audiometric examinations, as well as noise intensity measurements at 23 points of PT X's marine operations area. Data analysis was performed using the Spearman correlation test. The results showed that there was no significant relationship between noise intensity and hearing loss (significance value 0.376 > p (0.05)). However, there is a significant relationship between age and hearing loss (significance value 0.014 < p (0.05); r = 0.429. While noise intensity, tenure, length of employment, and use of hearing protection device (HPD) did not show a significant relationship with hearing loss. It is recommended to implement the "PENDA" (Hearing Management and Job Rotation) program for workers over 40 years old to protect workers from hearing loss.

Abstract

Mental health awareness has gained increasing global attention due to its significant impact on workplace productivity. However, research on the role of mental health awareness in vocational training graduates remains limited, particularly in Indonesia. This study investigates the relationship between mental health awareness and work productivity among graduates of BLK Komunitas Al Hikmah Pandeglang. Using a quantitative research design, data were collected through a survey questionnaire distributed to 112 respondents. Statistical analysis, including t-tests and correlation analysis, was conducted using JAMOVI software. The results indicate a strong positive correlation (r = 0.873, p < 0.001) between mental health awareness and work productivity, suggesting that higher awareness contributes to improved performance. However, t-test analysis found no significant differences in mental health awareness between male and female graduates (p = 0.604). These findings highlight the importance of integrating mental health education into vocational training programs to enhance graduates’ productivity. Despite these insights, limitations such as self-reported data and the inability to establish causation suggest the need for further longitudinal and experimental research. Strengthening mental health policies within vocational education and workplaces remains crucial for fostering a resilient workforce.

Abstract

Compliance with the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is a crucial aspect in the implementation of Occupational Safety and Health (K3), especially in the high-risk construction sector. Although the regulations of Law No. 1 of 1975 and Regulation of the Minister of Manpower No. 8 of 2010 have mandated the use of PPE, the violation rate is still quite high among contractor workers. This study aims to analyze factors related to compliance with the use of PPE among contractor workers at PT X. The research design used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional method, involving 75 respondents selected through a total sampling technique. Data were collected through a closed questionnaire that had been validated and tested for reliability. The results of the chi-square analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between supervision and compliance with the use of PPE (p = 0.000), while individual characteristic variables such as age (p = 0.673), education (p = 0.251), and length of service (p = 0.841) did not show a significant relationship. These findings reinforce Lawrence Green's Precede-Proceed theory, which emphasizes the importance of predisposing and reinforcing factors in shaping health behaviors. Therefore, increasing the effectiveness of supervision, coupled with a coaching approach tailored to worker characteristics, can be a strategy for improving compliance with PPE use. Future research is recommended to further explore the role of organizational factors and work culture in PPE compliance behavior.

Abstract

School buildings are not immune to the risk of fire. Based on national statistics from 2024, fire was the most frequent disaster, occurring 935 out of 2,408 times. This study was conducted to determine the probability of fire hazards in school buildings and how to control them. The analysis was conducted based on the five stages of the Fire Risk Assessment (FRA): hazard identification, identification of people at risk, risk evaluation and control, documentation and training, and review. The results showed that fire protection facilities, such as portable fire extinguishers (APAR), were available but poorly maintained and not regularly tested, while other fire protection systems were not yet in place. The school lacked a documented emergency plan, and evacuation simulations had never been conducted comprehensively, thus failing to comply with applicable regulations. As a sustainable mitigation effort, an evaluation of the fire risk assessment is recommended to systematically strengthen the fire protection system, develop fire evacuation procedures, and provide regular training for the entire school community.
