Abstract

Pseudo-thinking occurs when students believe something is true or false when it is not entirely true or false. This research aims to study students' pseudo-thinking process in solving mathematics problems in terms of learning styles. Data was obtained using learning-style questionnaire instruments, written tests, and interviews. The method of data analysis applied in this study used the Miles and Huberman model. These research’ outcomes demonstrate that 1) students with visual learning styles in solving mathematics problems are more about remembering what they have seen, such as looking at books and blackboards, visual students experience pseudo-true and pseudo-false, 2) students with auditory learning styles in solving mathematics problems are more about remembering what they hear, such as listening to explanations from the teacher, auditory students experience pseudo-false, and 3) kinesthetic learning style students in solving mathematics problems are more about remembering from people's examples and then practicing and remembering how to do it before, kinesthetic students experience pseudo-false.         Keywords: pseudo thinking, solving mathematics problems, learning styles. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v25i2.pp601-619

Abstract

This study aims to develop an Integrated Science Student Worksheet Immersed based on the use of corn cobs to improve the creative thinking skills of junior high school students. This study uses the ADDIE research and development method by Dick and Carry. The results obtained, namely expert validation, showed that the average percentage of the aspect of content conformity to basic competencies was 92.07% and the construction aspect of the student worksheet component was 100% with very high criteria. The effectiveness of student worksheets in terms of n-gain and effect size , respectively, is of 0.93 and 0.95 with large criteria. Based on this, the immersed integrated science student worksheet based on the corn cob processing project is effective for improving the creative thinking skills of junior high school students.Keywords: student worksheets, project-based learning, creative thinking.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i1.pp294-303

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of science e-books, with a focus on the topic of mixture separation, delivered through the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model integrated with the local potential of Petis as a traditional food, to improve students' problem-solving skills. The research was conducted at SMPN Yogyakarta in the second semester of the 2023/2024 academic year, involving 24 students in class VIII as a randomly selected research sample. The research was a quasi-experiment with a non-equivalent control group design. The instrument used was a problem-solving skills test consisting of 10 questions. The paired t-test results show a significance level of 0.001 which is smaller than the value of α = 0.05 so it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results of students' problem-solving skills. The N-gain of the pretest posttest of problem-solving skills is 0.46 with the acquisition per indicator as follows: understanding the problem (0.8), analyzing the problem (0.7), planning the solution (0.6), implementing the solution (0.6), and evaluating (0.5).  The effect size analysis shows a value of 0.94 which is included in the large category. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop a PBL-STEM-based e-worksheet to improve students' disaster literacy using Microsoft Sway. This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with 4d (four-D). The 4D development model consists of 4 stages, namely define, design, develop, and disseminate. The instrument used is a needs questionnaire, test instrument. The results of the study stated that the attractiveness of e-LKPD was 88.20%, convenience was 87.52%, and usefulness was 90.96%. The result of Effect Size on PBL-STEM based e-worksheet on disaster literacy is 0.72 in the high category. PBL-STEM-based e worksheet is used to grow literacy effectiveness, especially earthquake threat materials in areas with an N-gain value of 0.68 and moderately qualified. Teachers and students stated that the use of letters, sentences and language in the e-worksheet was easy to understand, indicating that the PBL-STEM-based e-LKPD used to study the threat of earthquake disasters in areas was interesting, useful and the language used was easy to understand and could improve disaster literacy. junior high school students. Keywords: e-Worksheet, PBL-STEM, disaster literacy, Microsoft Sway. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i3.pp882-893

Abstract

This study aims to reveal students' creative thinking skills through the implementation of fire-retardant bamboo learning designs using ionic liquids that integrate chemical bonding materials and polymers. This research method is qualitative research. The research was conducted in class XII of SMA N Cibinong for two meetings with 36 students. The instruments used were observation sheets and video-audio recordings. The data obtained was analyzed using the transcript based lesson analysis method to determine the profile of students' creative thinking abilities. The creative thinking indicators used are five creative thinking indicators according to Munandar (1992). The percentage of indicators of creative thinking skills that appear the most in the first and second meetings is the indicator of fluency as much as 60.1% in the first meeting and as much as 62.1%. While the indicator with the least percentage of appearances at the first and second meetings is the originality indicator of 3.2% at the first meeting and as much as 0.1% at the second meeting learning activities. Keywords: green chemistry, creative thinking skills, transcript base lesson analysis. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i4.pp1759-1768

Abstract

This study investigates whether the use of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model and Cooperative learning STAD can improve argumentation skills in the thermochemistry chapter. The research sample is 72 grade 11 high school students. The research design was quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest control group design. The results of the study: (1) there was no difference in initial ability between the PBL and CL STAD classes with a significance value of > 0.00; (2) there are differences in argumentation skills between PBL and CL STAD classes with a significance value <0.00; (3) the PBL model N-Gain test was 60.50% in the "quite effective" category and CL STAD was 41.97% in the "less effective" category. Abstract

Scientific explanation skill is one of the essential skills for students in science learning today. Scientific explanation is a reasoning skill that relates claims, evidence, and reasoning. Students can understand, articulate, and explain scientific phenomena accompanied by evidence and reasoning with scientific explanation skills. However, in reality, students are still lacking in scientific explanation skills. In an effort to improve scientific explanation skills, teaching material is needed to be developed in the form of e-modules. The use of e-modules in learning is expected to train students' thinking skills, one of which is scientific explanation skills. This study aims to determine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of e-modules to improve the scientific explanation skills of junior high school students in science learning. The development of the e-module is carried out in three stages, namely preliminary research, prototyping stage, and assessment phase. The results showed that e-modules were included in the valid, practical, and effective categories. Thus, the e-module can be used and applied to develop science learning outcomes and scientific explanation skills. Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to provide information about several ways students communicate to build knowledge in citizen science projects (CSP). As the term “citizen science” applies to science that involves people who are not professional scientist  to attract wider public participation in scientific research, leading to the overall advancement of scientific knowledge. Quantitative descriptive research was conducted by implementing as well as observing CSP activities in class and completing surveys to 36 students who had participated in CSP. The findings of this research show that most students (83%) received passing grades above 70 score, the minimum passing criteria. The percentage of completion of learning outcomes falls into the very effective category (n>80%). This means that CSP learning is able to build knowledge through the communication activities trained in it. On average, students responded strongly agree-agree (87.3%) that the communication carried out in CSP builds their knowledge. There are five CSP activities that involve communication between students, schools’ community, teacher and expert scientist. The five main activities of CSP, namely (1) focus group discussion (FGD) with scientists, (2) conducting projects, (3) presenting project results to scientists, (4) reporting project results, (5) and finally publishing project results project. Abstract

This study objective was to describe the validity, practicality and effectiveness of Blended Learning-based Student Worksheets on environmental change materials using the PRIMA Learning model in improving Science Process Skills. This study was conducted at SMA State 1 Batudaa Pantai Senior High School and employed ADDIE development model. The result demonstrated that the developed blended learning-based worksheets were valid for use in schools with the assessment result from validators in the score range of 89.2% - 91.7% (extremely valid). Students’ worksheet practicality can be observable from several stages, including student activities, learning implementation, student responses’ results with an average value of 91.25%, 100%, 93% (perfectly acceptable). Further, Students’ worksheet effectiveness test based on the N-Gain score obtained a result of 0.68 (Effective), and the percentage N-Gain value (%) is 68 (moderately effective).In conclusion, the said learning is valid, practical, and effective in learning biology in class X SMA 1 Batudaa Pantai Senior High School.Keywords: students’ worksheet, environmental change, science process skills.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i4.pp1337-1346

Abstract

Pythagorean's theorem is a fundamental concept in mathematics that is widely used in various fields, including geometry, physics, and engineering. The ability to understand and apply these theorems is important in solving geometric problems and calculating distances or angles in real contexts. However, there are learning obstacles and difficulties for students in solving the problems of the Pythagorean theorem. This study aims to describe the learning obstacles and difficulties of students in solving Pythagorean theorem material through Systemic Literature Review (SLR). The article search strategy applies inclusion and exclusion criteria. The selection process was 19 selected articles using CASP checklist with articles coming from Google Scholar, Scopus, Springer Link, IEEE Explore, and PubMed databases. Based on the results of the study, it was obtained that students' learning obstacles came from epistemological obstacles, ontogenic obstacles, and didactical obstacles. The students' difficulties are dominated by conceptual difficulties.
