Abstract

The doctrine of the Trinity is one of the doctrines that most often becomes a polemic both among Christians and outside Christianity. In general, the concept of the Trinity is considered as something irrational. The aim of this research is to provide an understanding of the doctrine of the Trinity based on God's Word so that it can be a teaching for Christians in particular and readers in general. In addition, it provides an understanding of the history of the Trinity from the early church and also the progression of the Trinity throughout scripture. The God we can know is limited to what is stated in the Bible and the God who reveals himself in the Bible is the Triune God, this is what Christians must understand. The method used is qualitative with a descriptive analysis approach. The results of this research indicate that D. Glenn Butner Jr's work in Perichoresis is part of a broader exploration of Trinitarian theology with the aim of providing a comprehensive understanding of Christian doctrine about God.

Abstract

Every church denomination has a distinctive feature that colors it. Especially in the AFY Church, Ira Alawe So Halöwö is a striking characteristic because it is not found in other church denominations. Their existence in the AFY church is also recognized based on the decision of the AFY Synod Assembly by stipulating that Ira Alawe So Halöwö always wears a veil (a piece of white cloth) when worshiping and praying. In this paper, the author attempts to explain the phenomenon and its benefits for the AFY church. To explain this phenomenon, the author uses a descriptive qualitative research method that directs the author to explore and present data related to the research topic through interviews and review of related literature. Thus, this research can be concluded that Ira Alawe So Halöwö plays an important role in the ministry of AFY Church as a Prayer Team that must receive guidance for the progress of their ministry.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The concept of the church that we know in the New Testament has its roots in the Old Testament. This concept is closely related to God's work in freeing the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. This act of liberation became the basis for the formation of God's people (qahal Yahweh), namely the Israelites to become God's people. Based on the understanding above, we can conclude that the Church in the New Testament is the New Israel. If the Church is the new Israel then the church can also be described as the Family of God (Familia Dei), then as the Family of God, the church is a fraternal community as children of one Father, redeemed by the blood of Christ and baptized in one baptism in the name of God the Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit, to partake at one Banquet Table of God's salvation and welcome the coming of the Kingdom of God in perfection. In the reality of ministry in the Protestant Church today, especially in the Presbyterian Church in Indonesia, children who are part of the Familia Dei are rejected from the Communion Table. In fact, the service of the Sacrament of Holy Communion to children (Paedocommunion) is also a continuation of what is written in the Old Testament regarding the Easter Meal, that if children are involved in the Easter Supper, then in today's Holy Communion children should be included too. The Sacrament of Holy Baptism is the basis for receiving the Sacrament of Holy Communion and children who have received the service of the Sacrament of Holy Baptism (Paedobaptism) are eligible to receive the Sacrament of Holy Communion (Paedocommunion), because the meaning of Holy Communion is the Covenant, the sign and seal of Christ, it is also food and spiritual drink for the soul.

Abstract

Abstract The dogmatic approach to theology in the modern era, the relationship between philosophy and theology is an important part that supports each other in a constructive direction. This is different when entering the postmodern era with its literary criticism. The foundation of dogmatic theology and philosophy based on language becomes a very radical criticism space by Derrida's deconstruction. Deconstructive criticism then has an impact on breaking logocentrism and metanarratives in all aspects so as to overhaul the structure of philosophy (logos) and dogmatic theology (Logos). This article seeks to read deconstruction criticism of philosophical and theological discourse, analyze its implications for dogmatic theology, then provide an apologetic response to deconstruction. The method used is descriptive qualitative by carefully analyzing various data from the "theory" of deconstruction and its implications. The findings of this article show that deconstruction philosophically brings a very radical language discourse space towards linguistic agnosticism. While at the theological level, deconstruction is an attempt to "kill" God starting from overhauling language as an instrument of theological discourse. It is a rejection of God's presence, power and authority expressed through biblical texts.

Abstract

The phrase “Fear of the Lord” that repeatedly appears in the Book of Proverbs, particularly in Proverbs 1:7 which reads, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,” carries deep theological significance in the Christian tradition. This phrase not only affirms the beginning of divine wisdom, but also describes the heart attitude that believers should have in knowing and worshipping God. However, in the context of modern Christianity, the relevance and application of this concept is often a matter of discussion, given the cultural shifts and spiritual challenges faced by Christians today. This study aims to analyze the meaning of the phrase “fear of the Lord” in the context of modern Christianity, as well as explore how views and practices related to this phrase are applied in contemporary Christian life. In addition, this study also highlights how the concept of “fear of the Lord” undergoes changes or adjustments in line with the dynamics and challenges of the evolving times. This study uses a method with a theological and hermeneutic analysis approach to the biblical text, particularly Proverbs 1:7, to explore the meaning of the phrase “fear of the Lord” in the context of modern Christianity. Through textual analysis, the study examined classical and modern interpretations of relevant biblical passages, in order to understand how the phrase is translated and applied in contemporary Christian life. Thus, the results of this study show that the “fear of the Lord” is defined as reverence, awe, and obedience to God, not just literal fear. This understanding is manifested in life attitudes that reflect integrity, ethics, and morality according to the teachings of Christ. Thus, it can be implemented in various forms of spiritual and social activities, including religious education, worship, and daily spiritual practices such as prayer and meditation. This research also shows that the concept of the “fear of the Lord”, when properly understood and consistently applied, has the potential to deepen the spiritual life of Christians. Moreover, a proper understanding of this concept can be a source of strength and guidance for Christians in facing the challenges of daily life.

Abstract

In the changing times that continue to develop, ministry to Christian teenagers and youth is becoming increasingly important for the Church. The dynamics of youth and youth ministry are increasingly fading, teenagers are no longer interested in serving or even coming to worship. This research highlights the strategic role of pastors in guiding and inspiring the younger generation regarding the difficulties they face in accordance with Christian values. Through a deep understanding of the dynamics of youth and youth ministry, as well as relevant strategies, it is hoped that the Church can be more effective in guiding the younger generation to face today's challenges. With awareness of the pastor's strategy, it is hoped that the Church can build a young generation that is strong and relevant to the times.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze Ephesians 2:14-18 with a focus on the theme of atonement presented by Christ in the context of the relationship between Jews and Gentiles. Through an exegetical approach, this study explores the meaning of the text in the historical and cultural context of the early church, as well as its implications for the theological understanding of ethnic unity in the body of Christ. Using text analysis methods, the study identified how Jesus' death on the cross served as a barrier breaker that separated the two groups, as well as opening access to God for all believers. The findings of this study show that the atonement achieved through Christ is not only spiritual but also social, which promotes the creation of an inclusive community within the church. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of Christ's role as a path of peace and its relevance in the context of today's multicultural society.
