Abstract

Because of man's fall into sin, the relationship between God and man has been broken. As a result, man needs God's forgiveness. Sin hinders man's relationship with God. Forgiveness, which demonstrates God's loving and gracious nature, is a central theme of Christian theology. In the OT, the concept of forgiveness of sins can be seen from the lives of theprophets who suffered and were persecuted by their people but still provided guidance to others. This research uses a variety of literature research, this research applies a qualitative approach. The purpose of this research is to help modern believers understand how spiritual prophets from the past behaved towards their fellow human beings.   To build harmonious relationships in the midst of conflict and division, forgiveness is important in the contemporary church.   This study emphasises that a deep understanding of forgiveness can help each member of the congregation unite and reconcile while practising tangible deeds of love in daily life.  Therefore, this article assists the theological discussion on forgiveness in the contemporary spiritual and social world.

Abstract

This study examines the concept of "finishing well," which appears in the structure of comparative parallelism, as an emphasized Qōhelet perspective. This verse temporarily contrasts the beginning and the end, indicating that the end is better when done with patience and wisdom. In the literature search, it was found that the study of this text is rarely done, as it is often included in the discussion of the advice of wisdom in this passage. Based on the method of hermeneutic study of the sub-genre of wisdom literature, this study found that there are three perspectives of Qōhelet that encourage one to achieve "finishing well," namely: first, patience as the main factor; second, focusing on the goal; third, avoiding pride. These are the main factors that should be applied to achieve a glorious ending. Every child of God should make these factors the basis of character building in order to persevere to the end.

Abstract

Abstract: Jesus' attention to the Samaritans was one of the ways Jesus used to dismantle the paradigm of the disciples' Mission so that they would not only focus on their own ethnicity and nation but also see the Mission carried out by Jesus as a whole. This situation is very clearly explained by the apostle John in the Fourth Gospel, but in the Synoptic Gospels it is also clearly seen in several contexts. Jesus' intention was that the disciples could see the concept of the Gospel Message to other nations as a whole. Many views show that later at the peak of the Great Mandate as a form of a new command issued by Jesus to preach the Gospel to all nations. This is not wrong, but by looking long before that in Jesus' ministry several times in the Synoptic Gospels, he paid attention to the Samaritan ethnic group as representatives of other nations who had the right to the salvation carried out by Him. This was done by Jesus so that the disciples and all evangelists would not stop at their place to preach the gospel but must continue to understand that the tribes in the world who have not heard the gospel, they also have the same right to be saved. The PI movement must continue to produce repentant souls. The method used in the study is qualitative with a library research approach. The author collects data through primary sources such as books and articles that have been published both online and offline. Then the results of the research, the author provides conclusions related to Jesus' attention to the Samaritans as a strong foundation for actively carrying out the Mission to all tribes, languages and nations. This mission basis must remain the main benchmark that is consistently maintained and implemented in the context of the Gospel Proclamation Mission Movement carried out by both Church Institutions, Mission Institutions and Theological Schools or Seminaries

Abstract

In this article, the author will discuss the correlation between the Cakalele Dance of the Abui Tribe and the Concept of Spiritual War in the Bible for the Growth of Christian Faith in Alor. The concept of war in the Bible is seen a major part of protecting oneself from spiritual attacks and as part of God's people. This is based on God's Word to Moses, that faith leads believers to God's power which surpasses human power. It turns out that understanding the concept of war is not only owned by the Israelites, but also in the growth of faith. Because in this increasingly developing era, it is important to communicate the culture of the Abui tribe in Alor district. By using qualitative research methods complemented by a literature study approach, this research produces an understanding that the Cakalele dance for the Abui tribe is a culture that marks them as God's people. So there is a spiritual meaning in the cultural content of the Abui tribe's cakalele dance with the concept of spiritual war in the Bible, so that the Cakalele dance is absolute for the community in the growth of the Christian faith in Alor.

Abstract

This study examines the meaning of the phrase “the gospel is the power of God unto salvation” based on Romans 1:16-17 and its relevance for believers today. The background of this study is to provide a deep understanding of the gospel as a source of power that brings salvation to every believer, both Jews and Gentiles. The study utilizes a qualitative method with an expositional approach to the biblical text, supported by theological literature and commentaries from experts. The main objective of this study is to uncover how the gospel plays a role in strengthening, saving, and revealing God's truth, and how this understanding can be applied in the lives of believers today. The results show that the gospel is not only a message of salvation but also the power of God that actively works in the lives of believers. Abstract

Human beings often create social conflicts, preventing the establishment of peace, and those who incite discord are referred to as children of the devil. In general, conflicts arise due to social and cultural tensions that influence character and the impact of family environments. Matthew 5:9 emphasizes that peacemakers are not merely those who avoid conflict but also those who actively foster harmony and reconciliation. The character of a peacemaker reflects the identity of being children of God, which means having Christlikeness in the practice of peacebuilding. This study demonstrates that implementing Matthew 5:9 in Christian character education is highly relevant for shaping individuals to become agents of peace in a world full of conflict. The purpose of this research is to examine Christian character education values related to peace, such as love, forgiveness, and reconciliation, and to explore how these principles can be applied in daily life. This study employs a qualitative method. It emphasizes that the character education taught by Jesus Christ is a character-based teaching centered on His example. The findings of this study affirm that Matthew 5:9 holds strong relevance for Christian character education. The values of peace can be internalized in the lives of Christians, enabling them not only to understand the concept of peace but also to practice it in their daily lives.

Abstract

Technological advances in the digital era provide opportunities for all students to expand their knowledge, develop interests and talents to a wider realm both in terms of spirituality and aspects of knowledge. However, along with rapid technological advances in the digital era, especially in the 21st century, it also presents challenges for students studying in theological schools, one of which is STT Sabda Agung. The rapid development of media and technology in the digital era hinders students in building faith and character. The method used in this research is a research method with a qualitative approach. The purpose of this research focuses on an in-depth understanding of how the principles of panca sola are implemented in the digital era, as well as their influence on the formation of character and faith of STT Sabda Agung students. The results of this study confirm that the principles of “panca sola” in Christian theology have a vital role in equipping theology students. In the midst of the onslaught of digital information and innovation, a true understanding of the Word of God, imbued with sola scriptura, sola fide, sola gratia, sola christo, and soli deo gloria, becomes a compass that guides them to develop faith, deepen knowledge, and form a character that reflects Christ.

Abstract

In today's Christian worship celebrations, music has an almost inseparable role in the course of worship. However, it is equally important that the minister of church music should have a character that reflects the character of Jesus. If a church musician does not exhibit the character of Christ, he or she can become a stumbling block to the congregation. This article aims to examine the character of Jesus in His ministry based on Matthew 11:29 and relate it to the role of God's servants in the field of church music. Thus, church musicians are expected not only to serve based on their musical skills, but also with a character that is in accordance with the teachings of Christ. This research uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach from various sources, such as journals, books, and the Bible. The results showed that Jesus' character has relevance for today's church music. First, church musicians must learn to be faithful and obedient to God in their ministry. Second, they need to have a meek attitude to create harmony in the music team. Third, a humble attitude should also be developed in every aspect of their ministry. This research has shown that the character of Jesus forms the spiritual foundation for church musicians, creating a harmonious, humble, and faithful ministry.

Abstract

Suhento Liauw has a unique understanding of the doctrine of salvation (soteriology). The uniqueness of his teaching has become widespread through his writings published on social media. In his teaching, Suhento prioritizes soteriology over other doctrinal topics without realizing the correspondence of the doctrines. In addition, Christ’s redemption applies to all people making it possible for all to be saved. In addition, even if someone has responded to the gift of salvation, it is certain that he will lose his salvation. Using the qualitative method of literature, the authors finds Suhento Liauw’s soteriology contradicts the truth of Scripture. By analyzing the biblical revelation, soteriology is one of the doctrinal topics that does not stand alone without other doctrines. In soteriology, God applies the work of Christ to His chosen people and guarantees the salvation of His children through the work of His providence. The grace of salvation not only frees people from sin, but gives the elect the responbility and privilege to share in the work of salvation initiated by God Himself through the preaching of the gospel.

Abstract

Abstract The issue of environmental degradation has become a global concern, affecting various regions worldwide, including the Batak Toba community. Numerous efforts have been made to mitigate the worsening damage. This paper aims to explore moral values through Batak Toba local wisdom as a solution to environmental destruction. One approach is by instilling respect for trees. In Batak Toba mythology, Hariara Sundung di Langit is known as a sacred tree with profound symbolic meaning. The values embodied in this tree can be utilized to address environmental damage. This study employs a qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach to explore the social ideas behind the meaning of Hariara Sundung di Langit, which is protected and nurtured by the Batak Toba community. The protection and preservation of Hariara Sundung di Langit can be applied as a step toward sustainable environmental conservation. This gives rise to the concept of Na Ture, an invitation to preserve a good and harmonious environment based on the Batak Toba worldview.
