Abstract

Vocational education and training has emerged as the cornerstone of Switzerland's workforce readiness strategy, with the country maintaining one of the lowest youth unemployment rates globally through a distinctive dual-track system that integrates workplace practice with classroom instruction. This study examines the mechanisms, outcomes, and challenges of Switzerland's vocational education and training system, drawing upon national policy frameworks, institutional case studies, and empirical evidence from employer surveys and graduate outcome data. Switzerland's approach is distinguished by the collective governance model involving the Confederation, cantons, and professional organisations; the predominance of dual-track apprenticeships engaging approximately 90% of upper-secondary VET students; the systematic alignment of training content with actual labour market demand across approximately 250 recognised occupations; and the high degree of permeability enabling vertical and horizontal progression between vocational and academic pathways. The research identifies four critical success factors: strong public-private partnerships with employer ownership of training content, nationally standardised yet locally adaptable competency-based curricula, the integration of general education within vocational programmes, and comprehensive support systems for at-risk learners including two-year programmes and case management. Findings indicate that Swiss VET generates positive cost-benefit ratios for training companies, produces graduates with qualifications that are nationally recognised and internationally comparable through the National Qualifications Framework, and maintains strong social prestige comparable to academic pathways. However, persistent challenges include regional variation in programme prevalence, the need for continuous curriculum updating to reflect technological change, emerging prestige differentials favouring academic education, and the gendered nature of apprenticeship placements. The study concludes that Switzerland's VET model offers a replicable framework for workforce readiness that other nations can adapt, while highlighting the necessity of employer engagement, governance coherence, and sustained investment in maintaining the currency and prestige of vocational qualifications.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of product quality and brand image on consumer purchasing decisions at Pondok Kayuan Restaurant. The research employed a quantitative approach using a survey method. Primary data were collected through questionnaires distributed to consumers of Pondok Kayuan Restaurant and analyzed using multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS software. Prior to hypothesis testing, the research instrument was evaluated through validity, reliability, and classical assumption tests to ensure the accuracy and feasibility of the regression model. The findings indicate that product quality has a positive and significant effect on consumer purchasing decisions. Factors such as taste, cleanliness, freshness of ingredients, food presentation, and consistency of quality were found to play an important role in encouraging consumers to make purchases. Furthermore, brand image also has a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions, suggesting that a positive reputation, strong brand identity, and consumer trust contribute to increasing consumers' intention to purchase. Simultaneously, product quality and brand image significantly influence purchasing decisions, with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.890. This result indicates that 89% of the variation in purchasing decisions can be explained by these two independent variables, while the remaining 11% is influenced by other factors outside the scope of this study. Therefore, improving product quality and strengthening brand image are essential strategies for increasing consumer purchasing decisions and enhancing the competitiveness of Pondok Kayuan Restaurant.

Abstract

Employee productivity is a crucial factor in determining organizational performance, particularly in the highly competitive retail industry. This study aims to examine the influence of work discipline and career path on the work productivity of millennial employees at Alfamart in Bima Regency. A quantitative approach with an associative research design was employed to analyze the relationships among variables. Data were collected through questionnaires using a five-point Likert scale from 30 millennial employees, selected using an unknown population sampling approach. The collected data were analyzed using validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, coefficient of determination, and hypothesis testing through t and F tests with IBM SPSS version 23. The findings reveal that work discipline has a positive and significant effect on employee productivity (t = 3.513; p = 0.002). Career path also demonstrates a positive and significant influence on productivity (t = 4.540; p = 0.000). Simultaneously, work discipline and career path significantly affect employee productivity (F = 103.014; p = 0.000), with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.884, indicating that 88.4% of the variation in employee productivity is explained by these two variables. The results suggest that strengthening work discipline and providing clear career advancement opportunities are effective strategies for improving the productivity of millennial employees in the retail sector.

Abstract

Work discipline is one of the important factors that determine the effectiveness of employee performance in government agencies. Low work discipline can have an impact on the declining quality of public services, so efforts are needed to identify the factors that influence it. This study aims to analyze the influence of supervision and the physical work environment on employee work discipline at the Bima City Education, Youth, and Sports Office (DIKPORA). The study used a quantitative approach with an associative research type. The study population was 86 employees, while the sample was 45 employees with the status of State Civil Apparatus selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires, observations, and literature studies, then analyzed using validity tests, reliability tests, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, t-tests, F-tests, and coefficients of determination. The results showed that supervision had a positive and significant effect on work discipline (t = 2.650; p = 0.011), as did the physical work environment (t = 2.641; p = 0.012). Simultaneously, both variables also significantly influenced work discipline (F = 39.319; p < 0.001) with a coefficient of determination of 65.7%. This finding indicates that improving the quality of supervision and providing a conducive physical work environment can improve employee work discipline at the DIKPORA of Bima City.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of remuneration and work discipline on employee performance at the Tax Service Office (KPP) Pratama Raba Bima. The study employed a quantitative associative approach involving 44 employees selected through purposive sampling from a population of 64 employees. Data were collected using questionnaires, observations, and literature studies. The collected data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with IBM SPSS Statistics after passing validity, reliability, and classical assumption tests. The findings indicate that remuneration has no significant effect on employee performance (t = 1.243; p = 0.221), while work discipline has a positive and significant effect on employee performance (t = 2.145; p = 0.038). Simultaneously, remuneration and work discipline significantly influence employee performance (F = 3.533; p = 0.038), with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.847, indicating that 84.7% of the variation in employee performance can be explained by the two independent variables. These findings suggest that improving employee performance depends more on strengthening work discipline than solely enhancing remuneration. Therefore, organizations are encouraged to reinforce disciplinary practices while continuously evaluating remuneration systems to ensure fairness, transparency, and alignment with employee responsibilities and performance.
