Edubiotik: Jurnal Pendidikan, Biologi dan Terapan aims to bridge the gap between research and practice, providing information, ideas, and opinions in biology research, teaching, and learning. Through coverage of policy and curriculum developments, the latest research results on biology teaching, learning, and assessment are brought to the surface. Edubiotik: Jurnal Pendidikan, Biologi dan Terapan accepts and publishes articles in the form of research in the fields of biology education, pure biology, and applied biology. All articles are published in English and undergo a peer-review process. The scope of Edubiotik: Jurnal Pendidikan, Biologi dan Terapan is focused on research in biology education, pure biology, and applied biology both in the topics discussed and the perspective of the discipline: 1. Abstract

Air pollution is changes of air arrangement from its normal state that is caused by the ingress of foreign materials or substances in the air. The resulting pollutants include SO2, NO2, CO2, O3, hydrocarbons, and heavy metals such as lead (Pb), zinc (Zn) and cadmium (Cd). The impact of plant’s vehicle exhaust gas is seen from the leaf mesophyll damage especially in the palisade tissue and the reduced number of stomata. Responding to the problem, conducted research with the aim to know the influence of pollution on the amount of stomata on the plant bamboo rejeki (Dracaena reflexa) as ornamental plants absorb pollution in the area of Malang city using the method of polishing the acne (aceton). The results showed that the number of stomata in polluted areas of vehicle pollution decreased at each point compared to areas not polluted by vehicles. In the contaminated area the average number of stomata is at point one 49, the second point 42.5, and the third point 37, whereas in the area that is not contaminated with the average number of stomata at point one 60.5, the second point is 68, and the point three is 70,5. Damage or Decrease in the number of stomata occurs due to the entry of gas that is toxic through stomata with diffusion process, so that the liquid composition of the cell becomes disturbed and the cell becomes damaged and dead.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the implementation of the Curriculum 2013 in terms of pedagogic competence of biology teachers in SMA Negeri Kecamatan Ilir Barat 1 Palembang. This was a survey study and the data were collected from principals, teachers of biology class XI, and grade XI students of the science program of senior high schools in Ilir Barat 1 Palembang District, that have implemented Curriculum 2013, in the academic year of 2014/2015. The research instruments were questionnaires, interviews, observation guides, and documentation. The data were analyzed by using the qualitative descriptive analysis. The results of the analysis are as follows. Biology teachers’ readiness level to implement Curriculum 2013 in terms of pedagogic competence in state senior high schools in Ilir Barat 1 PalembangDistrict is that one teacher is in a very prepared category with a percentage of 83% and three teachers are in the ready category each having a percentage of 81%, 71%, and 71% subsequently.

Abstract

Aloe vera is one species of Liliaceae that is able to grow in tropic area such as Indonesia. Aloe verahas potential as food, such as sweets. The slimy and soft texture of Aloe vera makes the problem of producing quality sweets products so it needs soaking with Ca(OH)2 solution.This study aims to determine the content of vitamin C and organoleptic in Aloe vera sweets with various concentrations of Ca(OH)2 solution. The research was conducted in March 2017 at Biology and ChemistryLaboratory,FTIKRaden Fatah State Islamic University. This research use experimental method, through experiment design used RAL one factor with concentration of Ca(OH)2 solution, consist of K1 = 1%, K2 = 2%, K3 = 3% and K4 = 4% (5 repetitions). Research method using titration and hedonic method. The highest vitamin C levels were found in the treatment with the concentration of Ca(OH)2 1% solution ie 323.84 mg/100gr. Organoleptic test results obtained concentration of Ca(OH) 24% solution preferably by panelist.

Abstract

One of the efforts in accommodating 21st century learning in IKIP Budi Utomo Malang, especially in Biology Education Program in Genetics Subject is with the development of Auto Play media with MEA (Means-Ends-Analysis) method. This study aims to produce products in the form of learning media based on Genetics Auto Play with MEA method. This development research uses Research and Development (R & D) method with 4D development model which has Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate stages. In this research is done up to development stage and especially on small scale test on 10 students of biology education program IKIP Budi Utomo Malang. The result of student response analysis stated that the developed media is included in good enough category (88,57%). For media benefit criteria included in highly valid category (89.5%), media display criteria fall into very valid category (89.5%), and media material presentation criteria fall into very valid category (86.5%).

Abstract

Fenology including one of scientific that study about development phases such as flowering character or development of leaf. One of leaf’s development M.indica leaf has a very high diversity such as shape size even the color is often different according to its development as well as the buds that appear in the plan. The observation of buds’s growth period in the M.indica plan has ever done before, but the levels and the time is still not clear. This research aimed to know the buds’s time grows on various levels of M. indica so obtained the good appearance time and the level of M.indica species for further research material. The collecting data uses exploration method by exploring the area of sub-district Cibiru, district Bandung, West Java and an act of determine a level. The act of determine of the length and the diameter of each stand which is found at the three regions. The result of observation shows 7 of the 12 specimen that has been observed experiencing the growth of leaf buds. The average growth time of the buds in the specimen that experienced a growth is 13 days which dominate with pole, as for the existence of the variation of shape and bud color appearance enable to the existence of growth to the next phase from that buds.

Abstract

Potato (Solanum tuberosum L) isan agricultural crop that has high economic value, it gets priority to be developed. This research at wasconductedScreen House of Balai Benih Induk Kentang (BBIK) Kayu Aro subdistrict Kerinci regency.The purpose of this research was to know the effect of planting media On Micro Cutting Growth Of Granola Potato Variety (Solanum Tuberosum L). This study was used Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with 6 Treatment 10 Deuteronomy. The observed parameters were percentage of live micro cuttings potato, the high micro cuttings, number of shoots, numbr of leaves, and length of rootwere analyzed by the variance of investigation and followed by DNMRT advanced test at 5% level. The investigation result of the highest percentage (%)of micro cutting potato live was 90%. The High of micro cuttings, number of shoots and number of leaves of micro cuttings granola varieties was showed that no significant effect on the treatment given. Whereas for the root length of micro cuttings showed thatthere was a significantly different effect.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan hasil belajar kognetif melalui media karikatur berbasis sparkol video scribe pada matakuliah Genetika mahasiswa Pendidikan Biologi 2014-A IKIP Budi Utomo Malang (IBU). Jenis penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan rancangan berupa pemberian tindakan pada siklus pembelajaran, yang dilaksanakan dalam 2 siklus. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Biologi kelas A angkatan 2014, berjumlah 38 mahasiswa. Proses pengumpulan data penelitian dilaksanakan dengan langkah-langkah, yaitu mengobservasi keaktifan mahasiswa dalam proses belajar mengajar dan pelaksanaan tes formatif pada tiap akhir siklus dilanjutkan dengan analisis hasil tes. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis persentase, yang mana ranah analisisnya meliputi analisis keaktifan mahasiswa dalam proses belajar mengajar dan analisis hasil belajar kognetif mahasiswa. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa ketuntasan klasikal hasil belajar berupa tes siklus I termasuk ke dalam kategori ‘Cukup’ karena mampu mencapai 71% dengan rata-rata hasil tes adalah 68, namun persentase tersebut belum mampu mencapai target ketuntasan klasikal minimal 80%, oleh karena itu peneliti melanjutkan tindakan pada siklus II. Hasil Penelitian Tindakan Kelas siklus II menunjukkan ketuntasan klasikal hasil belajar berupa tes termasuk ke dalam kategori ‘Baik’ karena mampu mencapai 82% dengan rata-rata hasil tes adalah 73,6, dan persentase ketuntasan ini telah melewati standar ketuntasan klasikal minimal 80%. Keaktifan mahasiswa dalam proses belajar mengajar pun meningkat dari siklus ke siklus, yaitu rata-rata persentase mahasiswa yang aktif pada siklus I hanya mencapai 44,21%, sedangkan pada siklus II meningkat menjadi 58,42%. Sesuai dengan hasil analisis data tersebut maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa melalui media karikatur berbasis sparkol video scribe dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar kognetif mahasiswa Biologi kelas A angkatan 2014 IKIP Budi Utomo Malang.

Abstract

The development of this practicum module is based on overcoming student difficulties in practicum implementation and final report making. Skillsbased modules of the science process to practice the skills of the process of science are observing, grouping, interpreting, predicting, formulating hypotheses, planning experiments, and communicating. This module is expected to lead the students to be actively involved in carrying out practicum activities independently related to the concept of the material to be studied. The purpose of this research is to produce teaching material product in the form of practical genetic module based on skill of science process that is feasible and practical used by students in genetic lecturing. Procedure of development in this research with 4-D model proposed by Thiagarajan that is define (definition), design (design), develop (development), and disseminate (dissemination). Data collection instruments used in the form of interviews and assessment questionnaire. Data analysis techniques used qualitative analysis by calculating the average score of each component of the module assessment and calculating practicality data on the use of the practicum module. The science-based genetic module of the science process module is appropriate for use by professors of materials experts, media experts, and linguists. Second, module practicum based on science skill based on students' responses have practicality in practicum practice that is 76,05% module contents, 76,26% presentation, and 76,10% from language.

Abstract

The purpose of research to determine that effect of problem-based learning (PBL) model on cognitive student achievement in SMP YPPGI Silo Manokwari in the relation of population density to the environmenttopic. The study was a quasi-experimental research used nonequivalent control group design. The sample of the study was the students of class VIIA such as experimental class and the total students as many as 23students and the class VIIB such as the control class and the total students as many as 22 students. That result showed the experimental class to implementation PBL model obtained the average posttest 70,78, while the class control obtained the average posttest 50,05. The significant value was 0,01 < α = 0,05, there were different cognitive student achievement between the experiment class and the control class. Conclusion, there are differences in cognitive students achievement between students taught using PBL model with students taught using a conventional learning model.

Abstract

This research is descriptive research, as for the purpose of this research to improve students' critical thinking ability to environmental problem by using Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model in Environmental Science subject in Biology Education Study Program of UM Palembang. The study was conducted from September to December 2016. The results of this study indicate that PBL learning model is suitable to be applied in the subject of Environmental Knowledge.
