Welfare: Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat is a blind peer-reviewed journal dedicated to the publication of the results of community service. The articles published in the Welfare Journal include the results of original dedication. All publications in the journal Welfare are open access which allows articles to be freely available online without any subscription. Welfare is published four times a year by the literacy service journal as a journal manager at Faculty of Islamic Economis and Business, IAIN Kediri. Welfare accepts manuscripts or articles to strengthen the fields of applied and social sciences from various academics and researchers, both nationally and internationally. The scope is Society Development and Engagement focus on Social, Human Resource Development, Management, Business Management, Islamic Economics, Zakat, infaq, alms, waqf, bank and non-bank financial institutions, and MSMEs.. Abstract

This community service program aims to provide training in making cover letters using MS Word to Banyoneng Laok Village officials, Geger District, Bangkalan Regency. The service method is carried out through organizing training events involving DPL and a team of KKN students as companions. During the event, participants showed high enthusiasm and were active in participating. The explanations and reflections from the DPL and the KKN student team were considered clear and interesting by the participants, making it easier to understand and apply the material. In addition, a tutorial summary is available to make it easier for participants to remember the steps for preparing a village administration letter. Interesting requests also emerged from participants, who asked for video tutorials to be made as additional reference material. Thus, this activity succeeded in improving technical skills and administrative knowledge for Banyoneng Laok Village officials.

Abstract

This service aims to provide personal support for writing quality scientific articles to lecturers and students at the Kediri State Islamic Institute (IAIN) in the fields of economics and business. The service method is carried out through a series of mentoring activities, which include individual consultation sessions, personal guidance, and direct feedback. The results show an increase in scientific article writing skills, an understanding of the publication process, and increased motivation to contribute to academic literature. The aim of the service is to improve the quality of academic publications at IAIN Kediri, strengthen the research capacity of lecturers and students, and increase contributions to the development of economics and business, especially in the Islamic context.

Abstract

Community service activities aim to strengthen the welfare of street vendors (PKL) in Jogoroto Village, Jombang Regency, through a service learning (SL) approach. This service method involves a series of trainings, discussions, and direct practice led by presenters from the Jombang Regency Cooperative Service and lecturers from IAIN Kediri, Amrul Muttaqin, and MEI. Street vendors are given knowledge and skills in business management, marketing, and finance and are guided in designing a comprehensive business plan. As a result, street vendors succeeded in increasing their confidence and knowledge, as well as designing more sustainable business strategies. This activity also strengthens cooperation between street vendors and Berkah Lestari Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes), providing a positive impact on improving the local business ecosystem and the economic potential of street vendors in accordance with sharia principles.

Abstract

Religious formation was carried out with the aim of forming students' religious character. Service activities in the form of religious formation for MTs Nurul Yaqin Kuala Kurun students were carried out using a service learning (SL) approach. It was carried out in three meetings in March 2024 and was intended for MT Nurul Yaqin Kuala Kurun students in Classes VII, VIII, and IX, consisting of 52 students. This religious formation included guidance on prayer procedures and guidance on reading al-Qur'an, carried out in several stages, namely the delivery of material, the practice of worship, and questions and answers. The result showed that the religious formation was successfully implemented. It was shown by the increase in students' religious understanding regarding prayer procedures and reading al-Qur'an. The religious character shown by students after carrying out these activities was that they were increasingly obedient in carrying out worship, especially prayer and reading al-Qur'an.

Abstract

In facing the demands of an increasingly complex era of globalization, critical thinking skills are an important aspect for students in improving their analysis, evaluation and problem solving skills. UIN FTIK Student Senate K.H. Abdurrahman Wahid Pekalongan realized the importance of developing critical thinking skills and introduced the Legislation School program. Through an approach of presenting material, discussion and argumentative debate, this program aims to optimize student potential in developing critical thinking skills effectively. The research results show that the Legislation School program has had a significant positive impact in improving the critical thinking skills of FTIK UIN K.H. students. Abdurrahman Wahid Pekalongan. Participants demonstrated increased ability to analyze information, identify logical arguments, and evaluate opinions critically. This program has proven to be an effective solution for improving students' critical thinking skills in a college environment. In conclusion, the Legislation School program with an approach to presenting material, discussion and argumentative debate succeeded in optimizing the critical thinking skills of FTIK UIN K.H. students. Abstract

The aim of this service is to improve the aesthetics of the Pesona Tanjung Malaha tourist attraction in Malaha Village, Samaturu District, Kolaka Regency, in order to increase its tourist attraction. The method used is participatory and collaborative, inviting the community to play an active role. Activities start with field observations, interviews, coordination, and formulating alternative solutions. The activity stages include: (1) field observations at tourist locations; (2) interviews and coordination; (3) formulating alternative solutions; (4) painting signboards, cleaning beaches, and planting sea pine and sea pandan trees; and (5) evaluation of visitor behavior. The results of the activity show that the aesthetics of the tourist attraction have increased significantly. Painting signboards and landscaping helps create a more attractive environment for tourists. In conclusion, efforts to restore and rearrange tourist attractions, including painting signboards, are effective steps to improve the aesthetics of Tanjung Malaha Charm, which is expected to attract more tourists to the area.

Abstract

This community service aims to address the issue of waste spreading in Putura Beach, Watubangga District, Kolaka Regency, and Southeast Sulawesi Province by transforming waste into something beneficial, based on the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method. Through systematic observation, we comprehend the process of processing plastic waste into creative objects. As a result, used plastic bottles have been successfully transformed into attractive photo spots with high aesthetic value. These efforts not only solve local waste problems but also create a new attraction for local tourism. Abstract

Public literacy regarding halal laws remains low, with people often relying on the halal label on packaging to determine if a product is halal. However, many products in the Indonesian market lack this label, leading to consumer confusion. This educational activity aims to enhance knowledge about selecting halal-certified cosmetic products and ensuring their safety. It targeted female students of the Faculty of Economics and Islamic Business at K.H. Abdurrahman Wahid State Islamic University Pekalongan and was conducted face-to-face using a lecture-based approach. The session took place on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, from 15:30 until completion, aiming to increase awareness and understanding of halal cosmetic products, which were previously not well known among the students. This training effectively raises awareness and knowledge about the halal status of cosmetic products, helping students make informed choices in their daily purchases.

Abstract

Wise financial management from an early age is an important foundation in building a young generation that has financial awareness. This community service activity aims to instill the concept of financial literacy in children aged 5-7 years so that they understand the value of money, needs, and the importance of saving. The method used is an educational approach through interactive activities such as games, simple transaction simulations, and casual discussions. The activity was carried out on May 22, 2024 in Dukuh Kayunan Barat, Kayugeritan Village, involving 10 participants. The results of the activity showed an increase in children's understanding of basic financial concepts, such as distinguishing between needs and wants and the importance of saving. Children are also more enthusiastic about implementing saving habits in their daily lives. This program is expected to be the first step in creating a young generation that is wise in managing finances.

Abstract

Business management helps business managers formulate clear business goals and plan steps to achieve them. With good business management, it can be easier for business managers to maximize existing resources. The purpose of this service is to provide training and education about business management for canteen managers at Manufa Islamic Boarding School. This service uses the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method. The results of this research are: (1) Business managers can understand the importance of business management. (2) Business managers can be more skilled in planning their canteen business activities. (3) Business managers are better able to manage employees effectively. (4) Business managers realize the importance of coordination in their canteen business. (5) Business managers become more skilled in evaluating the performance of their canteen business objectively and critically.
