Abstract

ABSTRACT ? This research aims to improve  low quality of biology  in class X.2 SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar in academic year 2011/2012. Learning considered by  teacher?s performance, utility of facilities in the classroom, classroom climate, student?s scientific attitude, and student motivation of achievement applying for approach Contextual Teaching and Learning with Problem Posing model.  This research was a classroom action research which and performed  in three  cycles. Each  cycle  consisted  of  4  phases, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. The data  was  collected Tes and Non Tes by question, questionnaire, observation,  and manual interview. Data validation was used triangulation of methods and triangulation of observers. The obtained data were analyzed using descriptive technique.  The results of this research showed that according triangulation the average percentage for  teacher?s performance in  pre cycle (60%), cycle I (86,67%), cycle II  (96,67%) and cycle III (100%);  classroom climate  pre cycle (54,16%), cycle I (68,05%), cycle II (76,38%) and cycle III (86,80%);  student?s scientific attitude    pre cycle (50,92%), cycle I (65,27%), cycle II (74,07%) and cycle III (83,79%); and  student motivation of achievement  pre cycle (57,71%), cycle I (65,75%), cycle II (74,38%) and cycle III (85,80%);  utility of learning facilities in the classroom have been optimally. The  results  showed  that  the  average  percentage  quality of   biology  learning  aspect such as  pre cycle (55,69%),  cycle I (71,43%), cycle II (80,37%) and cycle III (89,09%) (increase 33,4% from pre cycle to cycle III).  Cycles stopped in cycle III because the research target is achieved. The conclusion of this research describes that  the implementation of approach contextual teaching and learning with problem posing model  can improve quality of  biology  learning  considered by  teacher?s performance, utility  of facilities in the classroom,  classroom  climate,  student?s scientific attitude,  and student motivation of achievement in class X.2 at SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar in academic year 2011/2012. Abstract

ABSTRACT ? The aim of this research is improve quality of biology learning for teacher?s performance, conditioning class, student science attitude in class, and student motivation of achievement in student class X 7 in 2nd senior high school of Sukoharjo. The research is classroom action research. The steps of research include planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The collecting data of research uses questionnaire, observation, and interview. Validation data uses triangulation of methods and triangulation of observers. The research uses descriptive as analytic data. The acts of research are consists of three cycles. The result in cycles I describes that generally the research target is not achieve yet that showed teacher?s performance indicators are 86,46%, conditioning class indicators are 62,14%, science attitude of students in class are 62,86%, and motivation of achievement in students are 53,33%. The result in cycles II describes that the research target is not achieve yet optimally that showed teacher?s performance indicators are 100%, conditioning class indicators are 67,86%, science attitude of students in class are 63,81%, and motivation of achievement in students are 65,40%. The result in cycles III describes that the research target is completely achieve and showed that teacher?s performance indicators are 100%, conditioning class indicators are 75,71%, science attitude of students in class are 75,72%, and motivation of achievement in students are 79,05%. Cycles stopped in cycles III because the research target is achieve. The conclusion of this research describes that the implementation of Class-Wide Peer Tutoring learning model with drew story medium can improve quality of biology learning for teacher?s performance, conditioning class, science attitude of student, and motivation of achievement in student of class X 7 in 2nd senior high school of Sukoharjo. Abstract

The purpose of this research is to improve students? critical thinking skill on Environmental Pollution Subject at class X MIA 3 of SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta. The research is a Classroom Action Research with 2 cycles of action. Each cycle consist of 4 phases which is planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The result of the observations showed, 1) interpretation skill 43.97%, 2) analysis 29.31%, 3) evaluation 32.76%, 4) inference 43.10%, 5) explanation 53.45%, and 6) self-regulation 52.59%. Average of students? critical thinking skill procentage is 42,53%.The method of data collection is through observation, tests, and documentation. Technical analysis of data is technical qualitative descriptive. Data validation is use triangulation methods.The results of the application of Problem Based Learning on Environmental Pollution Subject showed an increase of students? critical thinking skill. Students? critical thinking skill in the first cycle is 70,83%. Students? critical thinking skill in the second cycle is 75%.Based on the result of the research, we can conclude that the application of Problem Based Learning on Environmental Pollution Subject in general can improve students? critical thinking skill at class X MIA 3 of SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta, despite the increase that occurs varies in each cycle. Keywords : Critical Thinking Skill, Problem Based Learning

Abstract

ABSTRACT ? This  research aims to find out the influence of SAVI approach using STAD type of cooperative learning model on learning achievement in the VII graders  Junior High School of 14 Surakarta. This research belonged to a quasi-experiment with quantitative approach. The research was designed using posttest only non-equivalent control group design by applying SAVI approach with STAD type of cooperative learning for experiment class and using conventional learning approach with lecture and demonstration methods for control class. The population of research was all 7th graders Junior High School of 14 Surakarta in the school year of 2011/2012. The sample of research was the VII C graders as experiment group and VII B graders as control group. The sampling technique used was cluster random sampling. Technique of collecting data used was objective test, observation test, and school document. The hypothesis testing was conducted using t-test. The data analyzed by Minitab version 16 program help at 5% significance. The hypothesis result of the influence of SAVI approach with STAD type of cooperative learning results p-value < 0,05, so there is affects SAVI approach with STAD type of cooperative learning on the learning achievement in the VII graders Junior High School of 14 Surakarta. Abstract

ABSTRACT ? The objective of this study is to improve student  independence in learning biology by implementing Inverted Teaching Approach (Reciprocal Teaching) on Environmental Management material. This research is a  classroom action research. This research was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, implementation of the action,observation, and reflection. The subjects of the study were VII-G  class students of SMP Negeri 5 Karanganyar in the academic year of  2010/2011. The number of the students was 32. The technique and instrumen of collectiing data were questionnaire, observation, and interviews. The technique of analyzing data was descriptive analysis techniques. Triangulation technique was used in data validation. The results proved that by implementing Inverted Teaching Approach (Reciprocal Teaching) students' independence in learning biology enhanced. It is based on the results of questionnaires, observations and interviews. The questionnaire of students? learning independence showed that the mean percentage of students?  achievement  in  each  indicator in pre-cycle, cycle I, and cycle II was 67.97%, 72.55%, and 77.58% respectively.  The observation of students? learning independence showed that the mean percentage of students? achievement in each indicator in pre-cycle, cycle I, and cycle II was 39.68%, 67.5%,  and 80.62% respectively. It can be concluded that  the implementation of Inverted Teaching Approach (Reciprocal Teaching) can enhance students learning independence. Abstract

The purpose of the research is to increase the figural creativity of students through the implementations of 5E Learning Cycle with Interrelationship Diagram in students of X-8 class SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta school years 2012/ 2013.This research was a Classroom Action Research with three cycles of action. Each cycle consisting of four phases which are plan, action, observation, and reflection. The observational subject was the students of X-8 class SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta school years 2012/2013 amounting 32 students. The source of data comes from teacher and students. The observational data were obtained from the observation, interview and documentation. Data validation observation is using the methods of triangulation observer. Technical analysis of data was using qualitative descriptive. Research procedures were using interrelated spiral model.Result of the research showed that using 5E Learning Cycle with Interrelationship Diagram can increase figural creativity of students from pre cycle to first cycle, from first to second cycle, and second to third cycle. The process of learning was not fully and independently accomodating pre cycle students, so that the students were lack in expressing, developing, and linking the idea of the materials. Cycles I and II were not reaching the target. Then, in Cycle III there was an improvement so that be able to aim the target.The conclusion based on the result above is that 5E Learning Cycle with Interrelationship Diagram can increase figural creativity of the students of X-8 class SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta school years 2012/ 2013.Keywords : 5E Learning Cycle, Interrelationship Diagram (ID), figural creativity

Abstract

ABSTRACT ? This research is  aimed  to know  effect  of implementation strategy Giving Questions and Getting Answer (GQGA) towards biology learning achievement. This research held upon senior high school  student  of SMA  N  Banyudono in academic year 2011/2012. Giving Questions and Getting Answer (GQGA) was expected to be more effective rather than if use convensional method. All student of SMA N Banyudono had been chosen as a research population.Since, not all student was not attending biological class, hence, randomly, 2 clusters were  selected representing  the  control  class  (for where  the  experimental  treatment was not carried out) and the experimental class for where the Giving Questions and Getting Answer  (GQGA). Quasy-experimental  method was  designed to achieve  the stated research objectives following the quantitative paradigm used in this research. In addition, Randomized Subjects Posstest Only Control Group Design was used as a research design to facilitate  the  data  collection  procedures. The  data  were collected using  several  techniques  namely, questionnaire, posttest  with multiple  choice, observation tools and related document. The final obtained data were then analyzed using t- test method. The results of this research showed that the implementation of the strategy has significantly affected the biology learning achievement. Abstract

ABSTRACT - The purpose of this study was to (1) Identify the type of fungus found on red rice tape (Oryza sativa glabberima). (2) Determine differences in students the skills  to plan  experiments  in  teaching and learning process  with additional learning resources  in the form of modules  results  in  the learning process without additional module on research results of class X SMA Al Islam 1 Surakarta. This study population is the entire class X SMA Al Islam 1 Surakarta odd semester of the academic year 2011/2012. The sample in this study were students in class X-7  as a  control class  and the  class X-8  as a  class  experiment. Cluster sampling technique with Random Sampling. The results of biological research in the form of  modules  as  independent variables and  students'  skills  to plan  the experiment as the dependent variable. Data collection techniques of  the skills  to plan an experiment using the documentation and observation sheet. Techniques of data analysis using  t test.  This study is a  quasi-experimental studies  (Quasi Experiment) using Randomized Control Design Only. The results of  this study summed up as  follows:  (1) Fungi  in  the red  rice tape  involved in  rice  fermentation  process  found  two  genera  of  Saccharomyces and Aspergillus viewed from morphological features. Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the difference of science process skills between problem based learning models combined with informal debate and conventional learning at X grade students at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Karanganyar in academic year 2013/2014. This study was a quasi experimental research. The research design was used post-test only nonequivalent control group design. This research applied problem based learning models combined with informal debate in experimental group and contextual with based on problem?s discussion in comparator group. The population of this research was all of X grade students at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Karanganyar in academic year 2013/2014. Sampling techniques used cluster sampling that choosed X.4 as experiment group and X.11 as control group. Techniques of collecting data were test and non-test methods. The test method included science process skills test. The non-test method included observation and documentation.  The hypotheses analyzed by t-test.  The result of research assert that average values of science process skills at experiment group (74,4) higher than comparator group (63,8).  The result of statistic analysis used hypotheses test assert that Sig. < 0,05 is 0,000 which there is differences between problem based learning application combined with informal debate and conventional learning. This research concluded that there is differences of science process skills between application of problem based learning models combined with informal debate and conventional learning at X grade students at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Karanganyar in academic year 2013/2014. Key words : problem based learning, informal debate, science process skills.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of guided inquiry model toward the students learning otucome in biology of grade XI IPA at SMA Negeri 2 Sukoharjo academic year 2013/2014. This research was quasi experiment using a design postest only with nonequivalent control group design. The research population was all students of grade XI IPA SMA Negeri 2 Sukoharjo academic year 2013/2014. The sampling technique used cluster sampling to obtain class XI IPA 1 as a control group and class XI IPA 3 as a experimental group. Data collection techniques using test and non test method. Hypotesis testing with t-test using SPSS version 17. Result of this research showed the learning outcomes of knowledge (tcount> ttable) that tcount = 2.978 and ttable = 1.995, skills (tcount > ttable) that tcount = 16,509 and ttable = 1.995, as well as attitudes (tcount > ttable) that tcount = 3.905 and ttable=1.995. The decision  on the third domain of learning outcomes that tcount > ttable with sig.< ? shows that there was a real effect on the learning outcome in biology with guided inquiry model of knowledge, skills, and attitudes. The conclusion from this research  that there was significant effect of guided inquiry model  toward the students learning outcome in biology of grade XI IPA at SMA Negeri 2 Sukoharjo academic year 2013/2014. Keywords : guided inquiry, knowledge, skills, attitudes
