Abstract

ABSTRACT ? The purposes of this research were to know: 1) the influence of index card match active learning strategy to the result of study biology; 2) the influence of student?s learning motivation to the result of study biology; 3) the interaction between learning strategy and learning motivation to the result of study biology: and 4) the influence of better learning strategy to the result of study biology. Background problems in this research are biology teachers, in general, are still not implementing the strategy of active learning in delivering learning, some teachers are oriented to the achievement of the cognitive. Lack of interaction between teacher and student, and also teachers do not involve students actively in each learning activity. Students? motivation  in learning Biology is low because some students take identical biological material by rote.  Index Card Match  is an appropriate strategy applied to high school students because these strategies involve students in active, containing elements of the game, and gives a nice effect that will facilitate and enhance motivation to learn more diligent and to obtain the optimal results of biological studies.  This research was quasi experiment research using  Randomized Control Only design.  Independent variables were  learning strategy and learning motivation, whereas student?s achievement of study biology was the dependent variable. The population of this research was all on X grade of SMA Negeri 5 Surakarta. The samples of this research were the students of class X-3  as the control group and students of class X-4 as the experimental group.  The sample of this research was established by cluster random sampling. The data about the result of study biology collected by use test and observation.  Learning motivation meansured by using questionnaires. The analisis of this research was anava two away in different cell and the advance test used Bunfferoni test. The conclusion of this research were: 1) Index card match active learning strategy had significant influence to the  result of study biology (cognitive, affective and pshycomotor domain) on X grade of SMA Negeri 5 Surakarta; 2) Learning motivation had significant influence to the result of study biology on X grade of SMA Negeri 5 Surakarta; 3) There wasn?t interaction between learning strategy and learning motivation to the result of study biology (cognitive, affective and pshycomotor domain) on X grade of SMA Negeri 5 Surakarta. Abstract

ABSTRACT ? The purpose  of this study  is to  determine the influence  of Guided Discovery learning methods toward science process skill in class X of SMA Negeri 1 Teras Boyolali in academic year 2011/2012. This research was quasi experiment and posttest only control group design was used as a research design. Guided Discovery learning method was independent variables and science skill process was dependent variable. Student of class X of SMA Negeri 1 Teras Boyolali as a population. The samples of this research were the students of class X-1 as the experimental group and students of class X-3 as the control group. The sample of this research was established by cluster random sampling.  Data was collected using test and observation. The data were analyzed using t-test method. The conclusion of this research was Guided Discovery learning method was had significantly affected the science process skill on X grade of SMA Negeri 1 Teras Boyolali. Abstract

ABSTRACT ? The purpose of this research is to ascertain the influence of pollution in Pepe Surakarta river research module implementation as biology learning resource in environmental pollution subject material toward learning achievement. The research is belonged to quasi experiment with posttest only control design. The independent variable in this research is a module as biology learning resource and dependent variable is learning achievement. The populations of this research were all of 7th degree students at SMP Al Irsyad Surakarta in academic years of 2011/2012.  The samples of this research were the students of 7thA as experiment group and 7thC as control group. The sample of this research was established by cluster random sampling. The data was collected using questionnaire, essay test, observation form, and document. The hypotheses analyzed by t-test. The result of  t-test had been conducted the significant value (?) < 0,05 in all domains of learning out comes, So it can be concluded that implementation of research module as biology learning resource had significant effect toward learning achievement of 7th degree students at SMP Al Irsyad Surakarta in cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. Abstract

ABSTRACT ? This research is aimed to  know effect  of implementation  strategy Guided Note Taking (GNT)  with optimalized learning  equipment  towards  biology  learning achievement. This research held upon senior high school student of SMA kebakkramat in academic year 2011/2012. Guided Note Taking (GNT)  with optimalized  learning  equipment  was expected to be more effective rather than if use convensional method. All student of SMA Kebakkramat had been chosen as a research population. Since, not all student was not attending biological class, hence, randomly, 2 clusters were selected representing the control class (for where the experimental treatment was not carried out) and the experimental class for where the  Guided Note Taking (GNT)  with optimalized learning equipment was applied upon. Quasy-experimental method was designed to achieve the stated research objectives following the quantitative paradigm used in this research. In addition, Randomized Subjects Posstest Only Control Group Design  was used as a research design to facilitate the data collection procedures. The data were collected using several techniques namely, questionnaire,  posttest with multiple choice, observation tools and related document. The final obtained data were then analyzed using t- test method. The results of this research showed that the implementation of the strategy has significantly affected the  biology  learning achievement.  It has been proven to have an impact towards cognitive, affective and psychomotor aspects. Abstract

Learning biology as part of the science consists of three aspects, namely the process (psychomotor), product (cognitive), and scientific attitudes (affective). In reality the classrooms are not conducive for the learning process is dominated by teachers and more advanced aspects of the product rather than process aspects and scientific attitude. consequently students are less oriented to the development of science process skills. Learning model that can facilitate the students to develop science process skills are collaborative-constructivist learning model. Both have characters that complement each other. The aim of this research is to ascertain the influence of collaborative- constructivist learning model of student?s Science Process skill at SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar in academic year 2012/2013. This research was quasi experiment research which used posttest only nonequivalent control group design.The population of this research was all of X grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar in academic year 2012/2013. Sampling techniques used cluster sampling that choosed X5 as experiment group and X8 as control group. Data was collected using test and non test. Test method using science process skill test. Non test method using observation sheet and document.  The hypotheses analyzed by t-test. Abstract

ABSTRACT ? This study was aimed to know: (1) The influence of the use of  Inquiring Minds Want  To Know  learning strategy in Biology  learning  towards  learning  achievement of the second grade students of SMA Negeri Kebakkramat. (2) The influence of the level of students learning activity towards learning achievement of the second grade students  of  SMA  Negeri  Kebakkramat. (3)  Whether  or  not  there  is  an interaction between the  Inquiring  Minds  Want  To Know  learning  strategy  and  the  students learning  activity  towards  learning  achievement  in Biology  of  the  second grade students of SMA Negeri Kebakkramat in the academic year of 2011/2012. The  population of  this  study  was  all  of  the  second grade  students  of  SMA Negeri Kebakkramat in the second semester of the academic year of 2011/2012. The sample  of  the  study  were  XI  IPA  2 students  as  the  experiment  class  and  XI  IPA  3 students  as  the  control  class, taken  by  Cluster  Random  Sampling. The  learning strategy  and the  learning  activity  were  considered to be  the  independent  variable while learning achievement in Biology became the dependent variable. The data was collected using documentation technique,  test, questionnaire, and observation sheet. The technique used to analyze the data was two-way Analysis of Variance (Anava). This  study  was  a  Quasi  Experimental  Research  with  Randomized Control  Only Design. The  results  of  the  study  can be  concluded as  follows:  (1)  There  is  a significant  influence  of  applying  Inquiring  Minds  Want  To Know  learning  strategy towards  affective  and psycomotoric  learning  achievement  in  Biology  of  the  second grade students of SMA Negeri Kebakkramat, yet there is no significant influence on cognitive  ones. (2)  There  is  an influence  of  students  learning  activity  towards cognitive, affective and psycomotoric learning achievement in Biology of the second grade  students  of  SMA  Negeri  Kebakkramat. (3)  There  is  no interaction between Inquiring  Minds  Want  To Know  learning  strategy  and students  learning  activity towards cognitive, affective and psycomotoric learning achievement in Biology of the second grade students of SMA Negeri Kebakkramat. Abstract

ABSTRACT ? This research is aimed to know the strenght and direction between: 1) metakognitif achievement and cognitive learning achievement of biological lesson of XI IPA student?s grade of SMA Negeri 3 Sukoharjo in academic year of 2011/2012, 2) Verbal intellegences and cognitive learning achievement of biological lesson of XI IPA student?s  grade of SMA Negeri 3 Sukoharjo in academic year of 2011/2012, 3) Interpersonal intelligences and  cognitive learning achievement of biological lesson of XI IPA student?s grade of SMA Negeri 3 Sukoharjo in academic year of 2011/2012. It is a kuntitatif correlational research. The population was taken all of students XI IPA grade of SMA Negeri 3 Sukoharjo in academic year of 2011/2012. The sample was taken using simple random sampling technique. Test technique was used to uncover student?s verbal  intellegences, documentation  technique was used  to uncover student?s cognitive learning achievement, while metakognition achievement and interpersonal intellegences was measured by using questionnaire. The obtained data was analysed using multiple linier regression analysis with SPSS 16. The result showed that (1) there is corellation between metakognition achievement and cognitive learning achievement of biological lesson of XI IPA student?s grade of SMA Negeri 3 Sukoharjo  in academic year of 2011/2012, with  the  regression coefficient is  0,238, the  relative  contribution  is 42,4% and the  effective contribution is 19,6%,  2) there is corellation between verbal intellegences and cognitive learning achievement of biological lesson of XI  IPA student?s grade of SMA Negeri 3 Sukoharjo in academic year of 2011/2012, with the  regression coefficient is 0,154, the relative  contribution  is 32% and the  effective  contribution is  14,8%,  3) there is corellation between interpersonal intellegences with cognitive learning achievement  of biological  lesson of XI IPA student?s grade of SMA Negeri 3 Sukoharjo in academic year of 2011/2012, with the  regression coefficient is 0,175, the relative contribution is 25,6% and the effective contribution is 11,8%. The three aforementioned corellation are considered as significant and positive valuable. They have 46,2% contribution to learning achievement of biological lesson. Each of independent variable that is metakognitif achievement, verbal intellegences and interpersonal intellegences has contribution to dependent variable, that is learning achievement of biological lesson. Student achievement at biological lesson as much as 53,8% is affected by other factor. Abstract

This research is to know the effect of studying Problem Based Learning (PBL) to tenth grade of SMA Negeri 6 Surakarta students critical thingking ability in academic year 2012/2013..This research include on Quasy Experiment with the research design posttest only non equivalent group design. This research applies Problem Based Learning (PBL) to the experiment group and variative communication method learning to control group. The population research is the whole of tenth students of SMA 6 Surakarta year 2012/2013. The withdrawal sample technic is sampling cluster and is taken two clasess the experiment group and control group. The data collection technic uses  test technic to know the environment pollution and the measure the students? critical ability, the school documentation as the first ability used to test the balace, and observation sheet to see the doing activity in the form of: the students? action, ability, and attitude. Hypothesis test uses T-test with SPSS 16 program.This research results is to show that through application learning Problem Based Learning, students participate actively in the learning process. The hypothesis test results the conclusion test (sig) 0,05 until the HO is refused. This means that the average result critical ability between control class and experiment class are different. The pronouncement is also supported descriptively that is form the average value of critical ability in the amount of 76.14862 for the experiment class and 83.24593 for the control class.This research concludes that Problem Based Learning affects to the tenth students' critical ability of SMAN 6 Surakarta year 2012/2013.

Abstract

The aim of the research is to find out the effect of Guided Discovery Learning on the Biology learning outcome of the students in SMA Negeri 2 Sukoharjo in the school year of 2013/2014.This research employed Quasi-experimental research with Posttest Only with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population of research was the even semester XI IPA graders of SMA Negeri 2 Sukoharjo in the school year of 2013/2014. The sample of research was taken using Cluster Sampling. Techniques of collecting data used were test and non-test method. Test method included essay of biological learning outcome in knowledge domain, while the non-test one included observation, questionnaire, and documentation. The hypothesis testing was conducted using t-test with SPSS version 17 help.The result of research showed that H0 was not supported, meaning that there was an effect of the Guided Discovery Learning toward the Biology learning outcome of the students in SMA Negeri 2 Sukoharjo in the school year of 2013/2014. The mean score of biological learning outcome in experiment class was higher than that in control class with the highest mean occurred in attitude domain, and the lowest one occurred in skill domain.Based on result, it could be concluded that Guided Discovery Learning affected the improvement of biological learning outcome in the students of SMA Negeri 2 Sukoharjo in the school year of 2013/2014. Keywords: Guided Discovery Learning, GDL, biological learning outcome.

Abstract

The purposes of this research is to increase students basic science process skills of class VIIIG SMP Negeri 22 Surakarta through the implementation of Learning Cycle 5E Models.This research is a Classroom Action Research with 3 cycles of action. Each cycle consisting of 4 phases which is planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. Observational data obtained from the observation, interview, and documentation. Technical analysis of data is technical descriptive both qualitative and quantitative. Data validation is use triangulation method.Result of this research show that with the implementation of Learning Cycle 5E models could increase students basic science process skills and achievement. It?s based on the result of observation. Average percentage for observation skills aspect increase from the 25,93% in pracycle, 42,31% in first cycle, 64,29 % in second cycle and 85,16% in the last cycle. Classification skills increase in each cycle from pracycle to the third cycle that are 22,75%, 39, 01%, 50,55%, 75,27%. Measurement skills increase from the 29,10% in pracycle, 46,15% in first cycle, 62,64% in second cycle, and 80,22% in third cycle. Prediction skills increase from 23,81% in pracycle, 53,85% in first cycle, 62,64% in second cycle, and 81,87% in third cycle. Written communication skills increase from 15,87% in pracycle, 57,14% in first cycle, 69,78% in second cycle, and 81,87% in third cycle. Oral communication skills increase up from 28,04% in pracycle, 40,66% in first cycle, 67,58% in second cycle, and 89,56% in third cycle. Making conclusion skills increase from 23,81% in pracycle, 45,05% in first cycle, 69,23% in second cycle, and 86,26% in last cycle. According to this result, can be concluded that the implementation of Learning Cycle 5E models could increase students basic science process skills student in class VIII G SMP Negeri 22 Surakarta class year 2012/ 2013. Keywords : Learning Cycle 5E, Basic Science Process Skills
