Abstract

ABSTRACT- This research aimed to ascertain the application of Problem Based Learning model towards student?s creative thinking skill in Biology at student of X grade of SMA Negeri 2 Surakarta in academic year 2011/2012. This research was a quasi experiment research. The research was designed using posttest only control group design using Problem Based Learning as model towards the experimental group, as compared to the conventional model. The conventional model was complemented with discussion, classical course and question-answer method. The population of this research was all of  X degree students at SMA Negeri 2 Surakarta in academic year 2011/2012.  The sample of this research was taken using cluster random sampling. The data was collected by using  essays test, document and through observation. The stated hypotheses was tested using t-test. The conclusion of this research showed that the application of  Problem Based Learning model has given significant effect towards student?s creative thinking skill in Biology at student of X grade of SMA Negeri 2 Surakarta in academic year 2011/2012.   Keywords: Problem Based Learning Model, Creative Thinking Skill

Abstract

ABSTRACT-Initially trace the genealogy of a taxon is an impossibility, when only few parameters available. Many parameters must be taken into account in data collection. Genealogy of plants is much more complicated than other creatures. One of which that believed to trace the genealogy at the same time ensuring that there is speciation in plants is molecular identification, using either chloroplast genomes, mitochondrial genomes and nuclear genomes. Abstract

ABSTRACT Plankton and benthos are two communities of organisms that can be used as bioindicator of aquatic environment. The purpose of this research were to determine kinds, density and diversity of plankton and benthos in Pepe river Surakarta as bioindicator. Study site was devided into 3 station as sampling location. Data sampling of identifying the type, density and calculating the value of diversity index (ID) according to Shannon Wiener formula. Investigations carried out measurements of environmental parameters, namely temperature, pH and Dissolved Oxygen   The result showed that 1) identified 20 kinds of plankton in Pepe river Surakarta namely Spirogyra, Eustbidentat, Pleurosigma, Oscilatoria, Euglena, Aungilospora, Gonatozygon, Dendrospora, Amoeba, Blepharisma sp, Hapalosiphon, Skeletonema, Synura, Stentor, Worochinia, Leptomitus, Peridinium, Paramecium, Volvox, Rhizosolenia, and Lyngbia with the composition and density vary between each sampling site, 2) Identified 3 kinds of benthos in Pepe river Surakarta namely Melanoides sp, Lymnaea sp and Fimbria fimbriata with the composition and density vary between each sampling site and 3 ) the Shannon Wiener Diversity Index (ID) of plankton and benthos in Pepe river Surakarta ranged from 0.98 to 1.98, showing the condition of polluted waters from mild to severe, varied between sampling sites.   Kata kunci : plankton, bentos, density , diversity, Pepe river

Abstract

ABSTRAK-Penilaian merupakan salah satu komponen penting dalam pembelajaran yang turut berkontribusi terhadap pencapaian tujuan pembelajaran. Namun pada prakteknya penilaian sering dilakukan untuk mengukur kognitif semata dan kurang menyentuh aspek afektif dan psikomotor secara menyeluruh. Upaya untuk meningkatkan proses dan hasil belajar biologi telah dilakukan melalui pengembangan penilaian otentik dalam bentuk penilaian proses, kinerja, dan penilaian produk selama tiga tahun terakhir. Data diperoleh melalui koleksi laporan mini riset Ekologi Tumbuhan. Dengan menganalisis secara deskriptif analitik, berdasarkan aspek kemampuan pengamatan, kemampuan wawancara dengan informan local, kemampuan analisis data, serta kekmampuan mendokumentasikan flora, hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa penilaian otentik: 1) dapat mengungkap penguasaan biologi mahasiswa lebih komprehensif meliputi aspek morfologi, anatomi, fisiologi, ekologi, sehingga pemahaman materi ajar biologi lebih baik; 2) dapat mengungkap lebih dari satu ranah kognitif-afektif, kognitif-psikomotor atau afektif-psikomotor; 3)  memberi kesempatan secara luas pada mahasiswa untuk melakukan self-assessment; 4) melatih mahasiswa berpikir lebih kritis memandang suatu penugasan; 5) dapat memberi umpan balik melampaui tujuan pembelajaran yang telah dirumuskan, sehingga memberi efek instruksional dan efek iringan baru yang menginspirasi proses pembelajaran yang lebih kreatif. Walaupun penilaian otentik memberi banyak dampak positif dalam pembelajaran, namun di sisi lain masih terdapat kendala bagi dosen dalam mengimplementasikannya seperti perlunya lembar kerja mini riset yang lebih spesifik, perlunya rubrik penilaian mini  riset berbasis kerja ilmiah, serta perlunya pengubahan etos mengajar. Untuk itu diperlukan proses yang kontinu dalam pengembangan penilaian otentik dengan tindak lanjut dalam pemanfaatan hasil penilaian otentik untuk mendukung peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran Ekologi Tumbuhan di Perguruan Tinggi.   Kata Kunci: pembelajaran biologi, Ekologi Tumbuhan, penilaian otentik, perguruan tinggi, ranah kognitif-afektif-psikomotor, mini riset.

Abstract

ABSTRACT-This research aimed to identify a model of biotechnology teaching used by  Senior Highschools, to develop a model of entrepreneurship-based biotechnology teaching and  to identify the effect of the model on students learning achievement, entrepreneurship attitude. The design of research involved using research and development (R&D) paradigm, consisted of 3 major steps, namely conducting an introductory research focussing on need analysis, developing a model of entrepreneurship-based biotechnology teaching, and then finally evaluating the efficiency of model. The findings showed that models of  biotechnology teaching at Demak Senior Highschools did not yet satisfy the principles of School Competency-based Curriculum (KTSP). A model of  entrepreneurship teaching was then necessary to develop, including its silabus & lesson plan, learning resources, student worksheets. The effect of the model upon students learning was significantly high. There was significants difference in cognitive as well as psychomotoric  learning achievement between control and treatment groups. The effect of the model upon students attitude towards entrepreneurship was significantly high. There was significant difference of attitude between control and treatment groups. The average attitude of treatment group was 90. The effect of  the model on students process of learning (learning activities) was also significant significant, their average activity was 86,5 (very high), the average of  teachers activities was significant (88,30), and classroom-based learning assessments results was 82,8 (high). Majority of students (95%) felt happy with the model of teaching, because it improved their attitude toward entrepreneurship was also improved. Abstract

ABSTRAK-Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pembelajaran dengan diagram Roundhouse terhadap kemampuan kognitif,  dan metakognitif siswa kelas XI SMA N 1 Ngaglik Sleman Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMA N 1 Ngaglik Sleman Yogyakarta. Populasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu seluruh siswa kelas XI IPA SMA N 1 Ngaglik Sleman. Sampel yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa yang terdapat pada kelas XI IPA 1 dan  IPA 2 yang ditentukan berdasarkan pertimbangan guru mata pelajaran biologi. Penelitian dilakukan dengan design penelitian semu dengan design nonrandomized control group pretes dan postes design. Instrumen penelitian yaitu soal tes dan lembar inventori metakognitif. Data hasil penelitian diuji dengan menggunakan uji anakova dan uji Mann Whitney U. Hasil penelitian pada kelas dengan pembelajaran menggunakan diagram Roundhouse diperoleh data rata-rata kemampuan kognitif sebesar 71,41 dan  kemampuan metakognitif 115,2.. Sementara itu pada kelas pembelajaran konvensional  diperoleh data rata-rata kemampuan kognitif sebesar 57,33,  dan kemampuan metakognitif 113, 76. Hasil uji statistik data diatas diperoleh nilai signifikansi kemampuan kognitif 0,002, dan kemampuan metakognitif 0,00. Hal ini berarti ada perbedaan  kemampuan kognitif  dan metakognitif kelas kontrol dan eksperimen.   Keywords:Pembelajaran Diagram Rounhouse, Kemampuan Kognitif dan Metakognitif

Abstract

ABSTRACT-The aims of this research were to know the relationship between : 1) IQ  with biology cognitive learning achievement of the first grade students, 2) learning motivation with biology cognitive learning achievement of the first grade students, 3) learning facilities utilization with biology cognitive learning achievement of the first grade students.This was a correlational research. The population were all of the first grade students of  SMAN 7 Surakarta in academic year of 2011/2012. The sample was taken among 80 samples of student using simple random sampling technique. Documentation method was used to uncover student?s cognitive learning achievement,  IQ was measured by test, while learning motivation and learning facilities utilization was measured  by questionnaire. The obtained data was analysed using multiple regression analysis of SPSS 17. The result showed that there was a significant and positive correlation between learning motivation with biology cognitive learning achievement of the first grade students of SMAN 7 Surakarta, with  relative contribution was 100% and efective contribution was 6,8%. The previous research showed that there were a significant and positive correlation between IQ and learning facilities utilization with student?s achievement, but in this research there were not a significant correlation both IQ and learning facilities utilization with biology cognitive learning achievement of the first grade students of SMAN 7 Surakarta.   Keywords: IQ, learning  motivation, learning facilities utilization, cognitive learning achievement of biology, multiple regression analysis

Abstract

ABSTRACT-Evolution in Sapindaceae have been running for a long time, as evidenced by the fossil of Sapindopsis encountered in the mid Cretaceous.  Based on its characteristics, the genus is thought to live in stressful environments.  Sapindaceae has the habitus of shrubs, trees, climbers, and the vine. Speciation in Sapindaceae can be found in genus Acer, while members of Sapindaceae which had hybridization can be found in genus Aesculus.   Keyword: evolution, speciation, hybridization, Sapindaceae
