Abstract

Debate about Regency /City Minimum Wages often results in demonstrations conducted by workers / laborers. Demonstrations that continue to recur every year on the same issue, clearly indicate that there are serious issues regarding wages. Wages play an important role and are one of the characteristics of an employment relationship, even wages are said to be one of the main goals of someone to do work for other people or legal entities. But in this case there are still some companies in the city of Batam that do not set wages in accordance with applicable regulations. The method used in this research is Qualitative-Descriptive, data collection techniques in the form of interviews and documentation which will later be processed into the discussion. The results of this study indicate that the supervisory process has been running but is not optimal because there are still many companies that do not know about the supervision carried out by the labor inspector due to the lack of human resources owned by the Technical Implementation Unit of the Manpower Supervision Office.

Abstract

Information about the financial conditions and results of the business activities is very useful for the different parties that are also outside the company. Useful information, such as the company's ability to pay short-term debts, the company's ability to pay interest and capital loans, and the company's success in increasing the amount of capital. When evaluating the financial performance of a company, it is possible to use a certain size or benchmark. The profitability analysis can be used as a benchmark to assess the financial performance of the company. Return on capital (ROA). The purpose of this study was to determine how much influence the current report had, the earnings per share and the debt / equity ratio on the return on assets in production companies listed on the Indonesian stock exchange in 2014-2018. The technique used in this study is to sample students with criteria that meet the requirements and have obtained 8 production companies that were involved in the data in a 5-year period to obtain 40 samples. The results of this study show that the variable earnings per share has a significant effect on the ROA, while the variables Current Ratio and Debt / Capital Ratio have no effect on the ROA. The results of the analysis show at the same time that the current variables Ratio, Earnings per share and Debt / capital ratio have a significant effect on the performance of assets.

Abstract

Roads are regional assets enjoyed by the entire community. The government is known to be an institution that has the obligation and authority to maintain and manage roads. But the occurrence of road damage not only results in obstruction of economic activities and other socialization of the community but can cause accidents for road users. In accordance with the Law on Road Traffic and Transportation (LLAJ), Road damage that occurs must immediately get repairs to maintain the safety of road users. Related institutions must provide signs / warning signs to road users so that traffic accidents can be avoided. The research aims at knowing the value of the effectiveness of the implementation rules in the field as well as the causes and solutions in improving damaged road repair services. The method used is an empirical research method, with a qualitative approach. The data obtained are interviews, the results of the study are that the damaged road repair process carried out by the Highways Agency has a system that is considered to require a long time from the planning stage to the execution process in the field, lack of community participation in providing information or reports with various media provided by the government to the community. The conclusion of this study is that the implementation of improvements carried out in the field exists but that the overall improvements carried out are not as effective as in reality based on the rules of the Act. Coupled with a lack of participation and initiative from within the community of road users.

Abstract

Ethnic Batak in the city of Batam consisting of several clans. One of them is the Marga Parna. With the existence of various Marga in Parna consisting of 50 Marga, in establishing friendship and maintaining its culture, Marga Parna formed an organization called the Marga Parna association various activities carried out in the organization of the Marga Parna association. This study aims to determine the patterns of organizational communication that occur within the Marga Parna group in increasing existence in the city of Batam. This research uses descriptive qualitative approach with the theory of organizational structure and communication patterns. The results of this study are the communication patterns that occur in the Marga Parna group in increasing excellence very well, namely communication patterns that occur routinely are wheel communication patterns, circle communication patterns, Y communication patterns, and star communication patterns, while less than maximum communication patterns occur within the Marga Parna group is the communication pattern of the Chain.

Abstract

In this globalization, economic competition between companies is becoming increasingly strict both domestically and globally, competing with each other. Companies are required to always improve and maintain the quality and performance of employees to be effective and efficient and able to compete with other companies. These research purpose for examine whether the company’s work motivation, work discipline and leadership style possess an influence on employe performance at PT Makmur Utama Raya. Employees of PT Makmur Utama Raya in june 2018 as much 118 respondent, is the population of this study. Sampling technique uses saturated sampling, the total sample in this study are 118 respondent. The countimg up activity apply SPSS version 21.0 software. Multiple linear regression analysis is the method that used to analysis data in this study. The result shows that employe performance is have an impact on with some element. Those are work motivation, leadership style and work discipline. The number of 0,659 (65,9%) represents the R Square Value. It means the work motivation, leadership style and work discipline have effected the employee performance (Y) for 65,9%, rest of 34,1% is effected by other variable out of this research.

Abstract

This research is entitled as An Analysis of Unit Shift and Structure Shift Found in a Little Princess Novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. The purpose of this research is to analyze the types of unit shift and structure shift. The theory used in this research based on translation shift theory by Catford (1965). The method is qualitative descriptive. And the method of collecting data is used documentation. Some steps in documentation. They are read the novel, observed the translation word by word, sentence by sentence and search the data. The researcher search the unit shift and structure shift, sort the unit shift and structure shift in draft of data then, classify between unit shift and structure shift. This research used words in describing the result. The result of this research are 51 items data. In unit shift, phrase into word are 10 data, word into clause are 5 data, word into sentence is 1 data, phrase into sentence are 2 data, phrase into clause are 8 data. And structure shift, simple sentence are 10 data, compound sentence are 5 data, complex sentence are 7 data, complex compound sentence are 3 data. The conclusion are unit shift can changed one word meaning as source language to phrase as target language, also unit shift changed clause in source language to sentence in target language. And structure shift can used “and, also, whatever, for combine dependent clause and independent clause.

Abstract

In the City of Batam the Enforcement of Regional Laws is regulated in Regional Regulation No. 1 of 2016 concerning No-Smoking Areas. In Article 3 the stipulation of KTR aims to provide protection from the dangers of cigarette smoke for passive smokers, families, communities and the environment. Even though there is already a regulation that regulates everything that is related, there is still a violation. This research was conducted in order to find out how the role of the Civil Service Unit in supervising No-Smoking Areas according to Regional Regulation No. 1 of 2016 concerning No-Smoking Areas. And what are the obstacles and efforts made by the Civil Service Unit. In this study the authors used a judicial approach to empirical juridical approach with descriptive analytical research. From the results of the research, it can be seen that First, in Article 3, Article 5, and Article 27, it is clear that there is a prohibition against smoking, selling, and sanctions. A total of 62 cases occurred in 2018 until 2019. Second, the obstacle faced by the Civil Service Unit was that there were many interventions from the people who felt it was their right to smoke. Third, the efforts made by the Civil Service Unit to provide more insight to the community about the impact they have on passive smokers and impose severe sanctions on violators. It can be concluded that the role of the Civil Service Unit is not optimal because there are still many people who do not know about the prohibition of No-Smoking Areas.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The problem in PT Harapan Jaya Sentosa is quite high, the reason there are still many employees who do not obey the rules of safety such as not using personal protective equipment, wear occupational health safety equipment is not appropriate, not obedient to the work procedures, and do the work that does not comply with its employees. The purpose of this research is to determine the influence of occupational health safety and work discipline on the employee's performance at PT Harapan Jaya Sentosa. This research uses quantitative methods. and use simple random sampling technique. The formula used to determine the sample count is to use the Slovin formula with an error rate of 5%. The study used multiple linear regression analysis methods, with a sample count of 102 respondents. The measurement and scale measurement methods in this study use the Likert scale. Data collection using questionnaires, with the help of SPSS version 26 program. The results of the study showed that partial occupational health safety has a significant impact on employee performance, indicated by T Count of 6.917 > T table 1.984 sig. 0.000 < 0.05. Then the work discipline is significant to the performance of employees with the T count of 10.611 > T table 1.984 with the level of sig. 0.000 < 0.05. Then occupational health safety and work discipline significantly affect employees ' performance simultaneously demonstrated by the value of F count 121,628 > 3.08 with significance rate of 0.000 < 0.05. Abstract

It is a common phenomenon for people in using pragmatics in their daily communication. People tend to express themselves implicitly with intention which is discussed in illocutionary acts. The intention are such as commanding, informing, expressing themselves and so on. Illocutionary acts that was developed by Searle (1976) has five types, representative/(assertive), directive, commissive, expressive and declaration. One of the types that often be used is directive which is classified into few classes such as command, beg, advise and request. This research was aimed to analyzed the classes and the frequency of directive speech acts that are uttered by the characters in”Cinderella” movie. This research was analyzed by applying descriptive qualitative method which is explained in words, phrases and sentences. The data will be collected from the characters’ utterance in “Cinderella” movie. The researcher used observational method, non-participatory and note taking technique method in collecting the data. The result of this research showed that the characters in “Cinderella” movie used all classes of directive speech acts. The most frequently used is command which had 36 data (69,2%) meanwhile the least used is request which had only 1 data (1,9%).

Abstract

Communication is a form of verbal use that people talk about one another. The purpose of communication is to provide information to others. Communication is fundamental, so people need to communicate with others. A well interaction requires the fundamental of politeness to unite communication methods and will provide information to others. Using politeness, can make the interaction avoid ambiguity and will give a good response between the speaker and the listener. But in this research, the researcher will only focus on one of the strategies which is called as Seeking Agreement. The method that the researcher has been using in this research is descriptive qualitative method which is explain by word, sentences or even phrases. The researcher uses observational method and non-participatory as a method in collecting the data. In analyzing the data, the researcher uses pragmatics identity method. The result findings show that there are 15 data found from the character’s utterances that contain an agreement from the speaker and hearer
