Abstract

Derongisor Village in Mojotengah District, Wonosobo Regency, has significant economic potential through the development of a cassava starch processing plant. This industry contributes significantly to increasing community income and creating new jobs. However, the factory's operations also have negative impacts in the form of environmental pollution from solid and liquid waste that disrupts water and air quality around the village. This study uses an Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach to empower the community to manage their economic potential while addressing industrial waste issues sustainably. The study results show that with increased capacity and synergy between the community, the environmental agency, the village government, and academics, waste management can be improved, thus minimizing pollution without sacrificing village economic development. This local asset-based empowerment model effectively creates a balance between economic growth and environmental preservation in Derongisor Village. This study is expected to serve as a strategic reference in the development of a sustainable agricultural processing industry in similar areas.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country with extraordinary diversity (megadiversity) that includes ethnic groups, languages, and religions. This diversity is a gift from God that must be preserved in order to achieve national unity and integrity. As an effort to strengthen religious moderation, community service activities are carried out that focus on strengthening the understanding of religious moderation for Madrasah Aliyah teachers based in Islamic boarding schools. The community service program uses the Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) method, an approach that emphasizes empowerment, collaboration, and social change by involving the community as partners and agents of change. It was carried out in the Sabilil Muttaqin Islamic boarding school in Pangandaran Regency, involving 50 representative teachers from Islamic high schools based in Islamic boarding schools. This two-day workshop was also supported by the Pangandaran Regency Religious Harmony Forum and various related stakeholders. The results of the activity showed the importance of increasing teachers' knowledge of religious moderation to be integrated into the learning process. Participants were also expected to be able to develop an action plan to convey the values of religious moderation to students, creating a generation that is moderate, tolerant, and harmonious in diversity.

Abstract

This research focuses on the problem of price reduction for processed cassava and banana products in Sidasari Village, which is an area with extensive agricultural potential, especially for these two types of commodities. Local micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM) face various serious challenges, including increasing levels of competition, lack of innovation in marketing strategies, and limited access to the market, resulting in the erosion of profit margins. To overcome this problem, this study offers and implements digital marketing strategies as a much-needed solution. The approach taken in the methodology is Asset Based Community Development (ABCD), with a focus on the 5D stage which includes Discovery, Dream, Design, Define, and Destiny. This method is oriented towards identifying and mobilizing local assets, such as the availability of abundant raw materials, high entrepreneurial spirit, and access to digital technology, to empower the local community. The training given in digital marketing includes a variety of techniques, including the use of WhatsApp Business, Instagram, TikTok, product photography, and content creation for promotion. The implementation of digital marketing aims to increase product visibility, expand market reach beyond local boundaries, and build a stronger awareness of Sidasari's processed product brands. By utilizing existing digital platforms, this strategy makes it possible to promote more effectively and at a lower cost, while encouraging direct interaction with consumers, which will ultimately lead to increased sales and competitiveness. This initiative is purposed to make Sidasari Village as a center for local food processing, as well as promoting sustainable economic independence and social solidarity in the community.

Abstract

Early marriage (EM) is a social phenomenon that happen in various regions in Indonesia, including in Ngadireso Village, Poncokusumo District, Malang Regency. Factors such as pregnancy before marriage, economic pressure, promiscuity, and lack of understanding about the negative impacts of EM are the main causes of the high rate of marriage at a young age. To overcome this problem, empowerment is carried out through socialization as part of the Students’ Community Service (KKM) of UIN Malang. This empowerment aims to increase public awareness, especially parents and teenagers, about the risks and impacts of EM. This activity involves students, village officials, and PKK administrators who play an active role in inviting the society to participate. Through the delivery of material by experts, discussions, and questions and answers, participants are given insight into how to prevent EM and to reduce the rate of EM in the village. The results of the activity show that empowerment through this socialization has received a positive response from the community and is expected to contribute the awareness and readiness for proper marriage. With this activity, it is hoped that efforts to prevent EM can continue to be improved through ongoing education.

Abstract

At Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang in 2024 SEM-PLS training will develop data analysis capabilities for lecturers and students to enhance their work on quality scientific publications. The Department of Mathematics at Faculty of Science and Technology conducted the session on May 21, 2024, where 40 people participated. Training and mentoring stands as the service method which features instruction about SEM-PLS theory alongside practical utilization of SmartPLS software for implementation. Observation activities together with documentation assessment and satisfaction questionnaire responses determine the program's outcome. Participant satisfaction reached an exceptional level because they showed positive feedback about the material presented. Time constraints together with a constrained space area negatively affected  this event. This training achieved success in providing extensive SEM-PLS understanding to students and lecturers. The activity builds campus research capacity. The organization of similar consecutive training courses is highly suggested because it will boost academic knowledge in data analysis fields.

Abstract

Agriculture is one of the jobs that supplies all the needs of the Indonesian people. Indonesian agriculture still uses a lot of chemical pesticides to support the growth period of agricultural crops. Biosaka elicitor is a product made from plant extracts which is neither a fertilizer nor a pesticide. The use of biosac elicitors as a substitute for pesticides is still not maximized due to the lack of knowledge of farmers about biosac elicitors. Counseling and training on biosac elicitors is the first step to provide knowledge to farmers to switch from chemical pesticides to organic pesticides. Biosaka elicitor contains phytoalexins which can increase plant metabolism so that they become more resistant to disease

Abstract

This community service activity was conducted to introduce ecoprint as an environmentally friendly textile dyeing technique and to increase environmental awareness among residents of RW 03 Kelurahan Samaan. The activity used a Community-Based Research approach with participatory hands-on training. The program was carried out in one day and included preparation, training implementation, and evaluation. Participants received material on the environmental impacts of synthetic dyes and learned basic principles of natural dyeing using local plant materials. They practiced arranging leaves and flowers on fabric and transferring natural pigments through a simple ecoprint process. The results showed that participants produced fabrics with diverse natural motifs and improved their understanding of eco-friendly dyeing. Evaluation indicated increased knowledge, practical skills, and environmental awareness, and highlighted the potential of ecoprint as a creative product based on local resources. These findings suggested that short-term training effectively supported community learning and sustainable textile practices in this setting.
