Abstract

This study aims to determine the predictive power of the report card value to the results of the competency test of the expertise students' expertise in Construction and Property Business for the 2020/21 school year. During the learning process and the implementation of competency tests of expertise conducted under the Covid-19 pandemic, the value of the report card assigned to group C3 (expertise package) is utilised. Due to the use of representative samples from the entire population, this research population consists of sixty-five students. Documentation-based data collection methods. Simple linear regression analysis is used to predict the direction of a positive or negative relationship between the skill competency test variable and the report card value variable and to predict whether or not the skill competency test variable is influential if the report card value variable changes. Normality, linearity, and heteroskedasticity tests are performed before data analysis as prerequisites. The study's results demonstrated that the predictive power of the report card score to the results of the competency test of expertise is positive, such that as the value of the report card increases, so do the results of the competency test of expertise. There is a relationship between the variable value of the report card and the results of the competency test of expertise.

Abstract

The Covid -19 pandemic has influenced all levels of education, even at the vocational level, especially in the industrial world internship program. Industry parties still need to be ready to accept participant apprenticeships with base guard happening the spread of the covid virus. This paper aims to give solutions in the implementation apprenticeship industry at vocational schools during the Covid-19 pandemic. Apprenticeships aim to fulfill demands of competence in the curriculum implementation in the world of work and experience work. The research adopted a qualitative approach with literature study and descriptive analysis method. The study results revealed that internship-based Project Based Learning is one of the solutions for implementing internships during the Covid-19 pandemic. The internship-based also optimizes the concept of a teaching factory at the vocational school level that leverages the participatory education practices involving vocational schools with the industries.

Abstract

Wind turbines are typically classified as Horizontal Axis Wind Turbines (HAWT) or Vertical Axis Wind Turbines (VAWT). VAWT has a superior ability to accelerate from rest to rotation than HAWT, allowing it to rotate the rotor even when the wind speed is low; additionally, the produced torque is relatively high. Using the Savonius helix VAWT is one of the numerous methods for enhancing VAWT performance. The effect of the number of blades and the blade twist of the rotor or the angle of rotation of the blades on the rotor from the bottom end to the top end on the speed cut generated by the VAWT Savonius helix was investigated experimentally. Variations in the number of blades used in the study included 2 and 3 blades, as well as 90°, 180°, 270°, and 360° for the rotor twist blades. In a wind tunnel, data was collected at wind speeds ranging from 0 to 5 m/s. The best performance research results were obtained With three blades, a twist angle of 180 degrees, and a cutting speed of 1.51 m/s. By modifying the Savonius Helix VAWT design in this study, it is possible to increase the efficiency and performance of turbines, mainly when used at low wind speeds, and the potential for using wind energy as a more efficient and sustainable alternative energy source.

Abstract

Building maintenance is an activity to maintain the reliability of the building so that it remains functional following the Regulation of the Minister of Public Works No. 24 / PRT / M / 2008 concerning Building Maintenance Guidelines; building maintenance includes architectural, structural, and mechanical maintenance. This problem must be considered during building construction to realize the use of structures that fulfil requirements for efficiency, environmental harmony, safety, health, comfort, and convenience. With regular maintenance, the building can achieve its design life with a minor frequency of damage and repair. The cost of building maintenance will increase yearly according to the inflation increase in each region.   This study aims to analyze the maintenance costs of the Sports Center building using the LCC (Life Cycle Cost) method with architectural aspects (walls, ceilings, and floors) within the next 20 years. Life cycle costs (LCCs) are costs required by a building over the life of its plan. This approach assesses the total cost of an asset over its life cycle, including initial capital costs, maintenance costs, operating costs, and the residual value of an asset at the end of its life. The study's findings demonstrate how to create a model for predicting maintenance costs. According to this, the Sports Center building must spend IDR 1.445.082.148,15 on maintenance over the next 20 years. The following includes IDR 280.180.770,42 for ceiling maintenance, IDR 338.260.528,79 for walls, and IDR 826.640.848,94 for flooring.

Abstract

Data survey in the field in 2021 Dharma Wanita Gresik Vocational School, which implemented an apprenticeship program for all class XII students in culinary management as many as 28 students for four months, that is, less than 70% could be absorbed in the world of work. This shows that the goals of technical and vocational schools have yet to be realized, so there are still many students who get jobs that are not in accordance with their abilities in the catering field. This study aimed to determine the effect of self-efficacy on student work readiness, the effect of apprenticeship learning outcomes on student work readiness and the effect of self-efficacy and apprenticeship learning outcomes on student work readiness. This study used a quantitative descriptive method with a sample of 23 students with a sampling technique using purposive sampling. This study found that self-efficacy had a significant effect on students' work readiness with a t-count of 3,379 > t-table of 1,713, t-count of 2,417 < t-table of 1,713, and F-count of 10,616 > F-table of 4.24.

Abstract

Vocational education has a very important role in the national education system to create a quality national workforce. One of the programs to increase the absorption of SMK graduates in industry is the existence of a partnership program between SMKs and the Business and Industrial World (DUDI). Based on 19 articles published in 2018-2022 concerning partnerships between SMKs and DUDI, several partnership models have been established, including curriculum alignment based on industry needs, teacher and student apprenticeships, guest teachers from industry, industrial visits, teaching factory assistance, testing competency certification, employee recruitment, and infrastructure support. Some of the obstacles and challenges encountered, namely the partnership program has not been implemented optimally, the work unit is not suitable, the contents of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) have not been fully realized, the form of partnership activity is unclear, lack of concern for both SMK and DUDI in implementing the partnership program, and competition between industry causes a lack of industry trust to involve students in the production process. While the opportunities that exist include the involvement of Vocational Schools in the production process through Teaching Factory, technology updates, student competency according to industry needs and the absorption of graduates by industry is increasing.

Abstract

The availability of educational facilities is still a problem in many countries. Inadequate laboratory equipment will affect student learning outcomes and the quality of graduates. Therefore, many studies have developed low-cost laboratories as an alternative solution. This article aims to study the development of low-cost laboratories and their implementation in learning. This study used the systematic literature review (SLR) method. The articles used in this study were published from 2017–2021 and obtained from the IEEE Xplore database. After the papers were accepted, we were selected using inclusion and exclusion criteria. Thirty-two articles were used. The results show that a low-cost laboratory can be an alternative solution to the high price of commercial equipment and a learning tool to improve learning outcomes. The methods used in implementing low-cost laboratories are design, research and development, and experimentation. Using low-cost laboratories in learning activities improves the quality of learning outcomes.

Abstract

Career uncertainty and unpreparedness of Vocational High School students in the face of the world of work are often associated with career choice factors (career choice). This causes many students who are not confident in choosing available job opportunities and some even choose not to work or become unemployed. This study aims to identify the factors that influence students' career decisions. This study applied the systematic literature review methodology to articles published in foreign journals. The researchers applied predetermined search parameters to locate ten pertinent articles published between 2019 and 2021. The study concluded that it is essential to recognize the factors that influence career decisions. It is crucial to assist students in concentrating more on the job search process and obtaining their desired positions. Employability, as determined by personal traits such as a proactive personality, self-reported education, personal preferences, performance expectations, days worked, industry experience, and years of study, was the most significant factor, followed by social status and prior work experience. This research also has educational and professional applications. Advisors who develop the personal potential of graduates can assist students and job seekers in adopting and exploring career strategies.
