Abstract

ABSTRACT   The Relationship between Fraction of Fruit Maturity and Height of  Fruit Bunches to the Number of Oil Palm Fruit at Harvesting Oil Palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq) in Palm Plantation Rambutan PT. Perkebunan Nusantara III. This research was conducted in Palm Plantation Rambutan PT. Perkebunan Nusantara III, Serdang Bedagai District North Sumatra Province from December 2014 until February 2015 using Split Plot Design (SPD) factorial, the main plot is palm bunches height (6, 8 and 10 m) and the subplot is the fraction of oil palm bunches maturity (fraction 1, 2, 3 and 4). The parameters observed were the number of palm fruit that falls from the bunches, free fatty acids and percentages by weight of palm fruit the falls from the bunches with weight of bunches harvested. The results showed that the higher fraction of maturity, significantly increased the number of palm fruit that falls from the bunches, free fatty acids and percentages by weight palm fruit bunches with the fall of the bunches after harvest. The higher harvesting bunches, significantly increased the number of palm fruit that falls from the bunches, free fatty acids and percentages by weight palm fruit bunches with the fall of the bunches after harvest. The interaction between fraction of maturity and height of fruit bunches significantly effected on all parameters observed. Key words :  fall from the palm fruit bunches, harvest, palm

Abstract

Application of Pontoscolex corethrurus gives the positive effect to soil properties. Recently, P.corethrurus is directly collected from field which are time consuming and costly. This research aimed to determine the best organic matter and soil texture types as the artificial culture medium in supporting the P.corethrurus growth. This research was conducted in Ecological and Biological Laboratory, Agriculture Faculty, University of Sumatera Utara. This research was conducted in two phases, with using factorial randomized block design. The first factor was types of soil texture  i.e. sandy loam (60% sand; 24% silt; 16% clay), Clay (28% sand; 20% silt; 52% clay), clay loam (36% sand; 28% silt; 36% clay). The second factor was types of organic matter i.e. without organic matter, cow manure, sheep manure, and hevea leaf litter. The result showed that in both phases of experiment the best  soil texture types in increasing earthworm biomass and cocoon number of P.corethrurus was sandy loam, following with treatment on texture clay loam, and clay respectively. The best organic matter treatments in increasing earthworm biomass and cocoon number of P.corethrurus in phase 1 was sheep manure, cow manure, Hevea leaf litter, and without organic matter respectively. Application of sheep manure on sandy loam soil and application of sheep manure on clay soil had the same potency in increasing P.corethrurus biomass only in first phase experiment. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi status hara tanah dan produksi padi pada sawah dengan sistem terasering dan membandingkannya dengan non terasering di Kecamatan Onan Runggu Kabupaten Samosir. Dilakukan pada bulan Mei sampai Juli 2016. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif dengan menggunakan metode survei. Teknik sampling berdasarkan metode startified sampling. Data diuji dengan uji t taraf 5%. Sampel tanah dianalisis di Laboratorium, parameter yang diamati C - Organik dengan metode Walkley and Black, pH Tanah dengan metode elektrometrik, Tekstur dengan metode Hydrometer Boyoucous, , N - Total dengan metode Kjeldhal, P, K, Zn (metode ekstrak HCl 25%). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Status hara C – organik, N, dan P pada lahan sawah terasering rendah sampai sangat rendah sedangkan hara K dan Zn sangat tinggi. pH pada teras atas lebih tinggi dibandingkan teras bawah. Kandungan hara K pada teras atas lebih tinggi dibandingkan teras lainnya. Ada kecenderungan produksi pada teras atas lebih tinggi dibandingkan teras lainnya. Status hara C – organik, N, dan P pada lahan sawah dengan sistem  non terasering rendah sedangkan hara K dan Zn sangat tinggi. Terdapat perbedaan persentase fraksi pasir pada terasering dan non terasering. Kandungan hara N pada terasering lebih rendah dibandingkan non terasering. K pada teraserasering lebih tinggi dibandingkan non terasering. Ada kecenderungan produksi padi lebih tinggi pada terasering dibandingkan non terasering.   Kata kunci : Produksi padi, Sawah terasering, Status hara tanah.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari biologi serangga penyerbuk Elaeidobius kamerunicus setelah 33 tahun diintroduksi di Sumatera Utara. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Insektarium Pusat Penelitian Kelapa Sawit (PPKS) Marihat mulai bulan Maret sampai Mei 2016. Penelitian dilaksanakan dengan metode deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siklus hidup E. kamerunicus 9 – 22 (+ 12,25) hari: telur menetas setelah 1 – 2 (+ 1,01) hari, larva instar pertama 1 – 2 (+ 1,05) hari, larva instar kedua 1 – 2 (+ 1,06) hari, larva instar ketiga  2 – 11 (+ 4,76) hari dan pupa 2 – 3 (+ 2,35) hari. Umur imago jantan 31 - 61  (+ 52,53) hari lebih lama dari pada imago betina 29 – 55  (+ 37,87) hari.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui kandungan logam berat Pb daun kol dan buah tomat di tiga Kecamatan Kabupaten Karo yaitu Kecamatan Simpang Empat, Kabanjahe dan Tiga Panah. Analisis tanaman dilakukan di Laboratorium Pusat Penelitian Kelapa Sawit (PPKS) Medan, pada bulan April - Mei 2016, menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) faktorial dengan 3 ulangan. Faktor pertama jenis tanaman yaitu: daun kol dan kulit buah tomat, faktor kedua jarak dari jalan raya yaitu 5 m dan 10 m serta faktor ketiga adalah pencucian yaitu tanpa dicuci dan dicuci dengan air mengalir. Parameter yang diamati kandungan logam berat Pb pada daun tanaman kol dan kulit buah tanaman tomat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jenis tanaman, jarak dari jalan raya dan pencucian berpengaruh terhadap kadar Pb. Kadar Pb daun kol pada jarak 5 m dan 10 m tanpa pencucian masing-masing 6,19 ppm dan 4,79 ppm dan dengan pencucian 4,48 ppm dan 3,86 ppm. Sedangkan kadar Pb pada buah tomat pada jarak 5 m dan 10 m tanpa pencucian 4,01 ppm dan 3,10 ppm dan dengan pencucian 3,08 ppm dan 2,26 ppm.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The objectives of the research ware to study the effect of Gaharu, Damar, and Meranti wood planting on rubber plantation site over soil biological properties in District Bohorok Langkat as well as to see the effect of the best tree for land space in rubber plantation. Research conducted at Land of Rubber Plantation in the village of Batu Jonjong and Timbang Lawan in February 2016 until June 2016. This research used survey descriptive method by purposive sampling method. Sampling chosen ware for: control as rubber without intercrops (K0), rubber trees intercrops with Gaharu (K1), rubber trees intercrops with Damar (K2) and rubber trees intercrops with Meranti (K3). The measured parameters ware organic C, total N, C/N, microbes total, soil respiration, soil macrofauna and earthworms. The results showed that planting gaharu, damar and meranti gave effect improvement of biological properties in rubber plantation and the best tree for land space in rubber plantation was rubber with Damar trees (K2). Abstract

Pola Sebaran karakter-karakter pertumbuhan dan produksi kedelai (glycine max L. Merril) hasil persilangan grobogan dengan genotipa tahan salin pada turunan F2, dibimbing oleh Rosmayati dan Eva Sartini Bayu.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi karakter pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman kedelai hasil persilangan pada tanah salin. Penelitian ini dilakukan di dalam rumah kasa Fakultas Pertanian USU (± 25 meter dpl) pada bulan April sampai bulan Agustus 2015. Benih F2 diperoleh dari penelitian sebelumnya dengan menggunakan benih hasil persilangan varietas grobogan dengan genotipa kedelai tahan salin. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian untuk seluruh hasil persilangan didapatkan bahwa untuk karakter jumlah daun, umur berbunga, jumlah polong, jumlah polong berisi, jumlah polong hampa, bobot biji, jumlah biji, dan umur panen tidak ada yang berdistribusi normal. Semua karakter tersebut menunjukan sebaran yang tidak normal yang dipengaruhi oleh adanya gen aditif epistasis duplikat maupun komplementer Kata kunci : generasi F2, pola sebaran, salinitas.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui respons pertumbuhan dan produksi tembakau Deli terhadap intensitas dan dosis pemberian pupuk organik. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Kebun PTPN II Bulu Cina, Sumatera Utara pada bulan Maret sampai Mei 2016. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak kelompok faktorial dengan dua faktor. Faktor pertama yaitu intensitas pemupukan dengan dua taraf (2x aplikasi: 10 dan 25 hari setelah pindah tanam (HSPT); dan 3x aplikasi: saat pindah tanam, 10, dan 25 HSPT), faktor kedua yaitu dosis pupuk organik dengan lima taraf (5g; 10g; 15g; 20g; dan 25g per tanaman). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa intensitas pemupukan 3x nyata meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan produksi tembakau Deli pada bobot basah daun pasir, bobot kering daun pasir dan bobot basah daun kaki 1. Dosis pupuk organik 10 g/tan nyata meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan produksi pada bobot basah daun kaki 1, bobot kering daun kaki 1 dan bobot kering daun kaki 2. Interaksi antara intensitas pemupukan dan dosis pupuk organik terbaik (pada kombinasi intensitas pemupukan 3x dan dosis pupuk organik 10 g/tan) berpengaruh nyata pada bobot basah daun pasir dan bobot kering daun pasir.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The influence of concentration and soaking time of sulfate acid to germination of sugar palm (Arenga pinnata Merr.) seeds. The research was conducted in Laboratory of Seed Technology, Agricultural Faculty, Univesity of Sumatera Utara, Medan, about 25 meters above the sea level started from November 2015 until Januari 2016using Randomized Block Design with two factors, i.e. concentration of sulfate acid with 4 levels : 0 %, 25 %, 50 %, 75 % andsoaking time with 4 levels : 5 minute, 10 minute, 15 minutes and 20 minute. The parameters observed were percentation of germination, germination rate, vigor index, axis embrio+radicule lenght, seedling fresh weight and dry weight. The results showed  that the interaction  between concentration and soaking time of sulfate acid significantly affected to all parameters observed except germination rate parameter. The combination seeds soaked in 75 % sulfate acidfor ten minutes produce the highest percentation of germination, vigor indeks, axis embrio+ radicule length, i.e. 100%, 0.31, 10.42 cm respectively. Abstract

Weeds are really making disadvantages on corn (Zea mays L.). Since they compete to obtain light, water and nutrient. The competition may occur in the beginning until the harvesting time. The aims of this research is to determinate the critical periode of weed control on corn (Zea mays L.). The present study was conducted at exfarming field of corn, Tanjung Sari, Medan selayang. Variable factor being observed were plant height, initiation time of flower,  dry weight of grain per sample, dry weight of grains per plot, weight of 100 corn grains, value harvesting indeks, height of weeds, dry weight of weeds and density of weeds. There were 12 treatments conducted, no weeds 2 week after planting : P1, no weeds 4 week after planting : P2, no weeds 6 week after planting : P3,  no weeds 8 week after planting : P4, no weeds 10 week after planting : P5, no weeds are found till the harvesting time : P6, weedy until 2 week after planting : P7, weedy until 4 week after planting : P8, weedy until 6 week after planting : P9, weedy until 8 week after planting : P10, weedy until 10 week after planting : P11, weedy until the harvesting time : P12. The treatment were arranged in a randomized block design with three replication. The result showed that the weeding time for corn has non significantly affected to the plant height, dry weight of grains per sample, value harvesting indeks and dry weight of grains per plot, but significantly affected to the weight of 100 grain of corn.The filed of research was dominated by Eleusine indica. The critical periode of corn was happened of 21 day after planting up to 28 days after planting. Key words: corn, critical periode, weed, weeding periode
