Abstract

This study investigates the childfree phenomenon within marital institutions by contrasting Islamic jurisprudence with Indonesian positive law. Employing a qualitative, juridical-normative approach through library research, the findings indicate that although traditional Islamic law prioritizes procreation (hifzh al-nasl), a mutual agreement to remain childfree can be understood via the reciprocity principle of mubadalah and the classical analogy of 'azl (contraception), provided it stems from rational justifications. Concurrently, Indonesian positive law does not explicitly forbid this practice, categorizing it under the legally protected domain of reproductive autonomy, provided it rests on uncoerced mutual consensus. The primary legal consequences intersect with inheritance law, which demands strategic asset mitigation using instruments like grants or wills. This study concludes that contemporary family resilience is determined by the stability of a couple's marital commitment rather than conventional reproductive success. Consequently, the adoption of prenuptial agreements serves as a vital preventive solution to guarantee legal certainty for couples navigating this modern lifestyle within an adaptive constitutional framework.

Abstract

Students’ financial behavior has become an important issue in higher education because university students are increasingly exposed to diverse financial responsibilities, digital financial services, consumer lifestyles, and decisions related to savings, spending, and income management. This study aims to explore how learning in higher education and financial literacy shape the financial behavior of Makassar State University students. A qualitative descriptive-exploratory approach was employed to understand students’ experiences, meanings, and everyday practices in managing personal finances rather than statistically testing relationships between variables. The informants were active Makassar State University students who had experience managing personal finances from pocket money, scholarships, additional income, or other economic activities. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, limited observations, and documentation, and were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings indicate that learning in higher education provides students with basic knowledge of financial concepts, including planning, record-keeping, money management, entrepreneurship, and economic decision-making. However, such learning does not fully shape financial behavior when it remains theoretical and is mainly oriented toward corporate or organizational contexts. Financial literacy helps students distinguish needs from wants, prioritize spending, save, control consumption, and consider financial risks. Students’ financial behavior is also shaped by personal habits, peer environment, lifestyle, self-control, and the use of digital financial services. The study concludes that financial behavior is formed through the interaction of education, literacy, and daily financial practices. Its implication is the need for more contextual, applicable, and student-centered financial learning in higher education.

Abstract

countries with roots in the same culture, Indonesia and Malaysia share cultural, linguistic, and ethnic similarities that often lead to the perception of ease in cross-cultural communication. However, the “similar but not the same” phenomenon actually becomes an obstacle for Indonesian expatriates when adapting to the communication patterns of work culture in Malaysia. This study aims to examine in depth the communication challenges and adaptation strategies of Indonesian expatriates in dealing with communication patterns of work culture in Malaysia. Using a qualitative approach with a single case study design, this study involved an Indonesian expatriate who had worked in the Food and Beverage (FnB) sector in Malaysia for four years. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis referring to the steps of Braun & Clarke (2006). The results showed that the main obstacles were multidimensional, including differences in disciplinary systems and work structures, disorientation towards hierarchical relations that were actually more egalitarian than expected, and differences in norms in providing feedback and work formalities. Meanwhile, adaptation strategies developed by expatriates included observation and social learning. This study confirms that cultural similarities and similarities do not guarantee smooth cross-cultural communication; In fact, invisible differences are the primary arena for adaptation. These findings add to our understanding of expatriate adaptation within a similar cultural context and provide practical benefits for cross-cultural preparation prior to assignments in Malaysia.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of work stress and workload on organizational commitment at PT X. This study used a quantitative approach with 86 employees as respondents. The sampling technique used was saturated sampling, in which the entire population was used as the research sample. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS version 29. The results show that work stress has a negative and significant effect on organizational commitment. Workload also has a negative and significant effect on organizational commitment. In addition, work stress and workload simultaneously have a significant effect on organizational commitment. This indicates that the higher the work stress and workload experienced by employees, the lower their organizational commitment.

This article aims to discuss the role of educational psychology in improving students' learning motivation through psychological approaches carried out by teachers, families, and the school environment. The method used in this article is a literature study by reviewing various journals, books, and relevant scientific sources. The results of the discussion indicate that educational psychology has an important role in understanding students' characteristics, learning needs, interests, talents, and emotional conditions. Abstract

The attack on Andrie Yunus in March 2026 became one of the significant incidents highlighting the condition of human rights defender protection in Indonesia. As an activist actively involved in advocacy activities and public policy oversight, Andrie Yunus was subjected to violence allegedly related to his human rights advocacy work. This study aims to analyze the forms of intimidation against human rights defenders through a case study of the attack on Andrie Yunus during the period of March–May 2026. The research employed a qualitative approach using a case study method and library research techniques. Data were collected from academic journals, human rights organization reports, official documents, and other relevant publications. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the Andrie Yunus case reflects the continuing threats faced by human rights defenders in carrying out their advocacy activities. The intimidation not only affected the victim personally but also had the potential to create fear among civil society groups and narrow the space for civil liberties in democratic life. Furthermore, the case highlights the crucial role of the state in ensuring protection, security, and legal certainty for human rights defenders. Therefore, strengthening protection mechanisms and improving law enforcement are necessary to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

Abstract

The symbiotic-mutualistic paradigm is a moderate approach in understanding the relationship between religion and the state, which has long been debated in Islamic social and political thought. It serves as a middle path between the integralistic approach that fully unites religion and state and the secularistic approach that strictly separates them. This paper aims to explain the concept, historical development, characteristics, and relevance of the symbiotic-mutualistic paradigm in national and state life. The research applies a library research method using a descriptive analysis of relevant literature. The findings indicate that this paradigm positions religion as a source of moral values and the state as a regulator of public affairs, both functioning in a complementary and mutually reinforcing relationship. In the Indonesian context, founded upon Pancasila, this paradigm is considered relevant as it accommodates religious values without establishing a religious state. Therefore, the symbiotic-mutualistic paradigm offers a moderate, inclusive, and harmonious framework for governance and national life.

Abstract

This article discusses the concept of Islamic nomocracy in the thought of Tahir Azhary as a concept of the rule of law that places law as the highest authority in the administration of state life. According to his view, Islamic nomocracy is a constitutional system based on sharia principles, emphasizing the supremacy of law, justice, equality, consultation (shura), and the protection of public rights. This concept is closely related to the fundamental elements of fiqh siyasah such as constitution (dustur), legislation (al-sulthah al-tasyri’iyah), democracy, ummah, and shura as normative foundations in Islamic governance. Constitution is understood as the highest legal basis limiting power, while legislation functions to establish rules based on the Qur'an and Sunnah. Democracy in Islam is reflected through justice and deliberation, while the concept of ummah emphasizes the unity of society based on faith. Thus, the thought of Tahir Azhary shows that Islamic nomocracy is not merely a theoretical concept, but also a constitutional model that places law, morality, and public welfare as the main foundations of political life.
