Abstract

This study discusses the concept of harmonization of knowledge at UIN KH. Abdurrahman Wahid Pekalongan as a response to the challenges of modernization and globalization that often separate the spiritual, rational, and local cultural dimensions. Using a qualitative approach with a literature study method, this research thoroughly examines the philosophical basis of the harmonization of knowledge, particularly through Ibn Thufail's thoughts on the encounter between reason and revelation and Ibn Rusyd's ideas on the integration of aqli and naqli. The results of the study show that the harmonization of knowledge is an effort to unite Islamic values, scientific rationality, and local wisdom in a complementary epistemological framework. Ibn Thufail, through the story of Hayy ibn Yaqzhan, emphasizes that reason can guide humans to the truth, but it still requires the guidance of revelation. Meanwhile, Ibn Rushd emphasizes the importance of using demonstrative reason to understand revelation proportionally through the concepts of ittisal and takwil. UIN KH. Abdurrahman Wahid Pekalongan implements this paradigm through the strengthening of Islamic epistemology, curriculum integration, interdisciplinary research, and the internalization of local cultural values. This integration aims to produce graduates who are intellectually strong, spiritually profound, and socially and culturally competent. This study concludes that the harmonization of knowledge is not merely a combination of religion and science, but a methodological unification process that places revelation, reason, and cultural reality in a coherent and mutually reinforcing relationship.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the causes, forms, and strategies for addressing student violence against teachers from a character education perspective. The research method used is a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation studies of teachers, school staff, and students involved in cases of violence. The results of the study indicate that the main factors influencing the occurrence of violence include family dysfunction, negative social environments, lack of religious guidance, and weak moral literacy in schools. The forms of violence found include physical and verbal violence rooted in a loss of respect and empathy for teachers. The implementation of comprehensive, integrative, and sustainable character education is key to preventing similar cases. The recommended strategies include strengthening religious values, applying positive discipline, instilling moral habits, and active collaboration between schools, parents, and the community. This study emphasizes that the revitalization of contextual character education based on human values is necessary to restore the function of schools as places for the formation of noble character and respect for teachers. The findings show that student violence against teachers is influenced by family dysfunction, negative peer environments, and weak character education. The forms of violence identified include verbal and physical aggression. The study also found that effective prevention can be achieved through strengthening religious values, implementing positive discipline, and enhancing cooperation between schools and parents.

Abstract

This article analyzes the contribution of Generation Z (Gen Z) Muslims to environmental conservation, based on strong Islamic environmental ethics. Amid the global ecological crisis, this study aims to identify the synergy between the theological mandate (caliph, mizan, prohibition of israf) and the characteristics of Gen Z as digital natives. Using a qualitative literature study method, it was found that Gen Z's main contributions are manifested in two pillars: (1) Digitalization of ecological da'wah through social media, which transforms conservation messages (Hifẓ al-Bī'ah) into massive visual content. (2) Implementation of zero waste behavior as a manifestation of the principle of wasatiyyah (moderation) and resistance to israf. Gen Z acts as digital ecological khatib and agents of change who actualize their faith into concrete actions, while simultaneously fulfilling Hifẓ an-Nasl (preservation of offspring) within the framework of maqasid sharia. However, challenges such as a lack of practical knowledge and infrastructure require strengthening the contextual Islamic Religious Education curriculum and agent of change. In conclusion, Gen Z is the vanguard of Islamic ecology, whose potential must be maximized to ensure the sustainability of the earth.

Abstract

This article examines the close relationship between Islam as a religion and culture as a social product of human life. Islam is understood not merely as a system of beliefs, but also as a comprehensive way of life that shapes patterns of thought, behavior, and the social structure of its adherents. By examining the thought of Shaykh Muhammad al-Ghazālī, this study demonstrates how Islam is able to interact with culture without losing its fundamental principles. Using a historical-philosophical approach, the research explores al-Ghazālī’s intellectual background, his methodological framework in understanding the Qur’an and the Sunnah, as well as his ideas on tajdīd (renewal). The findings indicate that al-Ghazālī offers a model of Islamic understanding that is moderate, rational, and responsive to contemporary developments. For him, renewal does not mean altering religious teachings, but rather revitalizing Islamic values so that they can address the moral, social, and intellectual challenges faced by the Muslim community. This article affirms that harmony between religion and culture is a key foundation for the formation of a civilized, adaptive, and progressive Muslim society.

Abstract

The global environmental crisis, marked by natural resource exploitation, pollution, and ecosystem degradation, calls for a robust ethical and normative framework. In Islamic thought, human beings are regarded as khalīfah fī al-arḍ, entrusted with the responsibility to protect the earth and prohibited from causing fasād (destruction). This article examines environmental conservation from a Qur’anic perspective, focusing on the principle of iṣlāḥ (rectification) and the ethical implications of Q.S. al-A‘rāf (7):56. The verse emphasizes the prohibition of environmental damage after the earth has been set in order and highlights a spiritual balance between fear and hope toward God. The discussion indicates that environmental preservation in Islam extends beyond ecological concerns to encompass moral, social, and spiritual responsibilities rooted in faith. Consequently, environmental stewardship is understood as both a manifestation of divine trust and a form of worship aimed at sustaining life for present and future generations.
