Abstract

Effective learning involves active student involvement. The PAIKEM (Active, Innovative, Creative, Effective, and Enjoyable Learning) model emphasizes activeness, creativity, and a fun learning atmosphere. In this model, students are invited to be directly involved in the learning process, either through discussions, questions and answers, or group work that facilitate the development of their social and cognitive skills. This article aims to examine the application of the PAIKEM learning model in improving student learning activities through a literature review of ten scientific journals indexed by Google Scholar. The results show that PAIKEM increases participation in discussions, courage to ask questions, group collaboration, and learning motivation. In addition, this model also facilitates the development of students' critical and creative thinking skills, creating a fun and challenging learning atmosphere. The implementation of PAIKEM in learning has a positive impact on improving overall student learning outcomes. Thus, the PAIKEM learning model can be an effective alternative for teachers to create more active, meaningful learning, and oriented towards the development of student competencies as a whole.

Abstract

This research examines the practices of a B4 class teacher at RA Takhrimah Tungkop in identifying children’s Multiple Intelligences (MI) through authentic observation during an activity of printing moon shapes using banana stems. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data collected through in-depth interviews and participatory observation. Data were analyzed thematically and supported by source and technique triangulation to ensure the validity of the findings. The results indicate that the teacher’s understanding of the MI concept was still focused on linguistic, logical-mathematical, and visual-spatial intelligences. Despite this limited conceptual scope, the implementation of authentic observation during the art-based activity successfully revealed a broader range of children’s intelligences. The moon-printing activity demonstrated indicators of visual-spatial intelligence through shape recognition and composition, bodily-kinesthetic intelligence through hand–eye coordination and motor control, and intrapersonal intelligence reflected in children’s ability to manage emotions, maintain focus, and show persistence during the task. Repeated observations accompanied by anecdotal records enabled the teacher to construct individual and continuous MI profiles for each child. These profiles can be utilized to design more varied, contextual, and child-centered learning strategies that align with the characteristics of early childhood learners in the Raudhatul Athfal setting. The practices observed also illustrate the connection between Gardner’s MI theory and Islamic early childhood education grounded in concrete learning activities. The findings support the development of child-friendly learning environments and encourage teacher creativity in conducting activity-based assessments. This study recommends strengthening teacher competencies through training in authentic MI assessment and further research using a research and development approach.

Abstract

This study aims to explore in depth the impact of Islamic parenting on the development of disciplinary character in early childhood. Conceptually, parenting in Islam is understood as a child-rearing method based on Islamic principles, emphasizing values of role modeling, love, responsibility, and moral development from an early age. Through this approach, parents serve as the first and foremost educators in instilling the values of discipline reflected in children’s daily behavior, both within the family and in social interactions. This research analyzes various ways Islamic parenting is applied in daily activities, including the habit of performing prayers on time, managing schedules for study and play, and implementing educational consequences in accordance with Islamic principles. The findings reveal that the consistent application of Islamic parenting patterns, combined with effective communication between parents and children, has a positive effect on the development of children’s disciplinary character. Children raised under Islamic parenting tend to have an awareness of obeying rules, valuing time, and taking responsibility for their duties and obligations. Conversely, the study also identifies challenges stemming from parents’ limited understanding of Islamic parenting concepts, as well as external environmental influences such as digital media and peer interactions that are not always aligned with Islamic values. Therefore, efforts are needed to improve literacy regarding Islamic parenting through educational activities involving early childhood education institutions, religious study groups, and parent communities. In general, the findings of this study highlight the importance of collaboration among families, schools, and communities in consistently applying Islamic parenting principles to foster children’s disciplinary character from an early age in accordance with Islamic teachings.

Abstract

This study examines the teacher's strategy in guiding the memorization of prayer prayers in early childhood at RA Muslimat NU Banin Banat Manyar through a qualitative case study approach. The main focus is the application of the practice (repetition) and habituation method, which was observed for 6-8 weeks in 35 children in group AB (aged 4-6 years), including participant observation, in-depth interviews with 4 teachers and 5 parents, and analysis of RPP documentation and murojaah videos. The results show that the practice method is applied rhythmically daily (3x / day, 10-15 minutes), starting from simple pronunciations such as iftitah and ruku' with 20-30 repetitions per chain cycle, resulting in an average increase in memorization from 42% to 91%, with variations in singing and movements reducing boredom by 27%. Meanwhile, integrated habituation through congregational prayer routines (Dhuha, Zuhur simulation, Ashar), independent ablution, and home supervision, achieved 89% of children's independence in becoming mini imams after 21 days consistently, supported by verbal rewards and gender row rotation. The discussion confirmed alignment with Piaget's theory (preoperational stage) and Vygotsky's (ZPD scaffolding), where drills build sensory memory schemes while habituation forms permanent religious character ala Abdullah Nasih Ulwan. Supporting factors include parental collaboration and a conducive NU environment, overcoming the obstacle of low concentration. Practical implications recommend replicating this strategy in similar RAs to optimize the golden age of Islamic early childhood, with memorization retention of 8-10 basic prayer prayers.

Abstract

Early detection of child growth and development is a crucial effort to prevent developmental delays and health problems in children. Family involvement plays a significant role because the family is the closest environment to the child and has continuous interaction in daily life. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of a family education program in improving parents’ knowledge and skills in detecting child growth and development. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a pretest–posttest method. The population consisted of families with children aged 0–6 years, with samples selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data were collected through questionnaires and observation sheets measuring parents’ knowledge, attitudes, and skills related to growth and developmental detection. Data analysis was conducted using paired sample t-tests. The results showed a significant increase in parents’ knowledge and skills after participating in the family education program. The findings indicate that structured and continuous family education can enhance parents’ ability to monitor child growth and development independently. This study implies that family-based education programs can be integrated into community health services as a preventive strategy to improve child health outcomes.

Abstract

The advancement of information technology has increased young children’s exposure to digital devices, which potentially affects language development. This study aims to analyze the relationship between daily screen time duration and language development of children aged 5–6 years in Desa Mendalo Indah, Kecamatan Jambi Luar Kota, Kabupaten Muaro Jambi. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. The subjects were six children aged 5–6 years who had more than two hours of daily screen time. Data were collected through observations of children’s language abilities, interviews with parents, and documentation of daily activities, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s (2014) interactive model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed variations in children’s language abilities despite having relatively similar screen time durations. Children who received active parental guidance and accessed educational content demonstrated better receptive and expressive language skills, including following sequential instructions, forming simple sentences, and expressing ideas verbally. Conversely, children who used screen time passively without supervision tended to have limitations in vocabulary acquisition, concentration, and verbal interaction. These findings indicate that screen time duration alone is not the sole determinant of children’s language development; it is also influenced by the quality of parental guidance, the type of content accessed, and social interaction experiences. This study is expected to provide guidance for parents, teachers, and early childhood education practitioners in managing digital media use wisely to optimally support children’s language development.

Abstract

Social emotional development in early childhood is an important foundation for children's psychological and social functioning in later stages of development. This process is greatly influenced by the quality of interactions within the family environment, including the level and quality of the father's involvement in parenting. Although various studies show that fathers play a significant role in shaping children's emotional regulation, independence, and social competence, studies that systematically integrate the role of fathers within the framework of psychosocial and sociocultural development theory are still relatively limited. This study aims to critically analyze the role of fathers in shaping the emotions and socialization of early childhood based on the perspectives of Erik Erikson's psychosocial development theory and Lev Vygotsky's sociocultural theory. This study uses a qualitative approach with a Literature Study Review (LSR) method of reputable national and international journal articles, academic books, and scientific proceedings published in the period 2020–2025. The data were analyzed through thematic synthesis and conceptual analysis. The results of the study show that consistent, responsive, and supportive father involvement contributes significantly to the development of emotional regulation, self-confidence, social initiative, and adaptive social interaction skills in children. These findings confirm the relevance of Erikson and Vygotsky's theories and provide theoretical and practical implications for the development of family parenting patterns and early childhood education policies that encourage optimal father involvement.

Abstract

Early Childhood Education (ECE) plays a crucial role in providing safe, comfortable, and child-friendly educational services for young children. However, as the second environment after the family, the potential for violence against children may still occur in ECE institutions if they are not managed optimally. Therefore, efforts to prevent violence against young children need to be implemented comprehensively through a holistic approach that integrates education, caregiving, and early prevention strategies. This study aims to analyze how ECE institutions, such as kindergartens and daycare centers, can function as the first line of defense in detecting, preventing, and addressing various forms of violence, including physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, among children aged 0–6 years. The research method employed is a literature review and policy analysis related to child protection and the implementation of Early Childhood Education. The findings indicate that capacity building through teacher training, the implementation of child protection–sensitive curricula, and strengthened collaboration among schools, families, and communities have proven effective in reducing the risk of violence by up to 40%, based on case studies in Indonesia. The conclusion emphasizes the importance of strengthening regulations, ensuring continuous supervision, and investing in human resource development to reinforce the role of ECE as a key agent in violence prevention and in creating a safe, healthy, and supportive environment for optimal early childhood development.
