Abstract

Water is a vital element for human beings. However, there are still limited clean water services in Indonesia. Raw water treatment is needed to ensure the availability of clean water. One of the methods is by using the coagulation process. The coagulant functions to speed up the coagulation process. Although effective in water treatment, chemical coagulants have some disadvantages. Therefore, it is necessary to develop natural coagulants to overcome the weakness of chemical ones. Natural ingredients can be used as coagulants if they have many macromolecules. Lamtoro leaves are one of the natural materials that are only used to feed the animal. This research aims to examine the potential of lamtoro leaf as a natural coagulant in terms of its content. The research is conducted by testing lamtoro leaf powder using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy and proximate test. Infrared spectra of lamtoro leaves show the presence of absorption peaks for specific groups of carbohydrate and protein compounds. The proximate test results show that lamtoro leaves contain 24.7% protein and 53.71% carbohydrates. The high protein and carbohydrate contents in lamtoro leaves enable them to be used as a natural coagulant.

Abstract

This research aims to identify students' misconceptions about momentum and impulse material using a four-tier diagnostic assessment instrument to implement learning evaluation in the Merdeka curriculum. This type of research is descriptive with a qualitative approach, with data collection techniques carried out through assessments and interviews. Interview data is used to reinforce assessment data. The instrument used in the study is a four-tier diagnostic test on momentum and impulse developed by the researchers. The results showed that 50% of students experienced misconceptions about momentum matter due to the assumption that if two objects move with the same kinetic energy should have the same speed so that the momentum of both objects can be determined by ignoring their velocity. Then, as many as 13. 9% of students experience misconceptions about the law of conservation of matter momentum because of students' assumptions that ignore direction on velocity vector quantities. In other physics concepts, some students are less careful in calculations. The results of this study are expected to be a reference for teachers in designing more meaningful Merdeka curriculum-based learning plans to help students better understand the concepts of momentum and impulse.

Abstract

There still needs to be more research on the potential analysis of the development of ethnoscience-based science literacy modules in chemistry learning using bibliometric tools. Ethnoscience-based science literacy modules still need to be found and used in chemistry learning. This research aims to analyze the novelty and effectiveness of ethnoscience-based science literacy modules in chemistry learning. The subject of this research is a science literacy module based on ethnoscience in chemistry learning. In this study, the researchers also analyzed articles that have been filtered based on topics based on local wisdom-based science literacy modules. The analysis contains several components: title, year, doi, author, method, outcome, and conclusion. The research uses an approach that uses the method of Systematic Literature Network Analysis (SLNA) assisted by bibliometric tools as the medium used in analyzing the article. The data obtained was many articles from the SCOPUS database, which had previously defined some criteria for capturing it. The criteria are related to the year of publication, keyword, and language selection. The application used in this study is the VOS Viewers application. The results show that research related to ethnoscience-based science literacy modules in chemistry learning is still highly feasible, given the numerous constraints in some schools. However, it should be noted that ethnoscience-based science literacy cannot replace scientific literacy globally because of the global literacy capabilities needed in everyday life.

Abstract

Redox reactions are important in many physiological processes. Oxidation numbers are commonly used for balancing redox reactions and understanding metabolic reactions. When oxidation number cannot be assigned, it is difficult or sometimes even impossible to understand the biochemical redox reactions. This article applies the electrical charge method, which can balance redox reactions when the oxidation number is unknown. It uses H+, O, H2O, and electric charge as balancing devices. This method allows the net-charge to be quantified, redox terms to be defined, and metabolic redox reactions to be classified and understood. The net-charge is also a new electron-counting parameter for understanding biochemical redox reactions.
