Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of brand awareness on purchasing decisions for Safi White Natural products among female Communication Science students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta, batch 2021-2022. This study uses a survey method to collect data from respondents. The population in this study were all female Communication Science students of UMJ, batch 2021-2022, with a sample of 77 respondents taken using simple random sampling techniques and calculated using the Slovin formula. The results showed that the level of brand awareness of Safi White Natural was in the high category, with an average value of 3.52 on the Likert scale. Respondents stated that they recognized Safi products through various media, including social media, television advertisements, and personal usage experiences. In addition, purchasing decisions showed good results, with an average value of 3.50, where the majority of respondents considered Safi products to be in accordance with their skincare needs. Simple linear regression analysis showed that brand awareness had a significant influence on purchasing decisions, with a correlation coefficient value (

Abstract

In political contests, campaign visuals play a significant role in shaping public perceptions of candidates. Campaign advertisements often do not only convey messages explicitly, but also embed symbolic meanings through visual and audio elements. The problem addressed in this study lies in how visual propaganda is strategically employed in the Prabowo-Gibran campaign advertisement titled Generasi Sehat Indonesia Maju to construct a positive image of the candidate pair through the representation of children and symbols of health. This study aims to examine the use of visual and audio elements in building a political narrative that appeals to both emotional and symbolic aspects. Using a qualitative method with a content analysis approach, the research explores visual representations of healthy and joyful children, the symbolism of milk as a health icon, and the portrayal of the main figures as close to family values. The findings indicate that the visual propaganda in this advertisement effectively communicates the campaign's message by establishing a positive association with the candidates through elements of togetherness, concern for children's nutrition, and hope for a better future. In conclusion, the advertisement utilizes visual propaganda to foster the perception that the Prabowo-Gibran pair are leaders who genuinely care about the younger generation and the well-being of Indonesian families.

Abstract

Following the fall of the ISIS caliphate in the Middle East, the threat of terrorism did not immediately disappear. On the contrary, the transformation of ISIS's strategy and patterns of ideological dissemination has opened a new chapter in the region's security dynamics, including in Southeast Asia. Indonesia and the Philippines have become two countries significantly impacted by the spread of ISIS-affiliated networks and ideology, both through direct attacks and digital propaganda. This study seeks to analyze how the evolution of the post-ISIS terrorist threat may influence the security policies of these two countries, as well as how national and regional strategic responses are formulated to confront this challenge. This research employs a qualitative approach with a literature study method, and utilizes traditional security and human security theories as its analytical framework. Preliminary findings indicate that the character of the post-ISIS threat tends to be decentralized, relying on individual radicalization and small cells. While Indonesia prioritizes a counter-radicalization and legal regulatory approach, the Philippines focuses more on large-scale military operations. This study affirms the importance of regional cooperation in strengthening security capacity, as well as the need for more adaptive strategies against the ever-evolving new forms of terrorist threats.

Abstract

Interpersonal communication is a type of communication that is often encountered and used in daily activities. Likewise, this type of communication is used in the design creation process, especially in interactions between graphic designers and clients. In practice, graphic designers often face challenges in understanding client needs, processing ideas, and making creative decisions. Challenges that often arise in the design process include mismatching client expectations, inconsistent requests, misunderstandings in translating client needs into designs, as well as various other external challenges that can influence design results. Phenomenon in the field shows that designers often experience internal conflict when balancing creativity with client requests. Therefore, understanding the dynamics of intrapersonal communication in the design process is crucial in order to produce work that meets the client's expectations without sacrificing creativity and aesthetic value in a graphic design.

Abstract

Employing a qualitative methodology that integrated video content analysis and interviews with both the curator and viewers of the YouTube channel @hippiearab, this research aims to elucidate the distinctive narrative approach utilized in the propagation of religious tenets. The central discovery of this inquiry highlights that a direct, relatable to daily life, and captivating storytelling mode simplifies the comprehension of religious doctrines for the audience. Furthermore, the application of everyday language within the content has demonstrated its efficacy in forging a robust emotional bond between the content creator and the video recipients. This study underscores the pivotal role of online media, notably YouTube, as an influential tool for instilling spiritual values in younger generations within the context of their ordinary existence.

Abstract

Instagram social media has become an effective platform for spreading positive messages, including messages of peace, to a wider audience. This study aims to analyze the communication methods used in spreading messages of peace through content on Instagram. With a qualitative approach, this study examines various communication strategies, such as the use of attractive visuals, inspiring narratives, and two-way interactions between content creators and audiences. The results of the study show that content that combines elements of visual aesthetics, relevant messages, and emotional engagement of the audience can create a significant impact in spreading the values ​​of peace. In addition, collaboration with influencers and the use of Instagram features such as Stories, Reels, and Live have also proven effective in expanding the reach of messages. This study provides recommendations for communicators, activists, and organizations to optimally utilize Instagram as a medium for spreading messages of peace, while still paying attention to ethics and social responsibility in communicating.

Abstract

Stuxnet is one of the first politically motivated cyberattacks in history. This attack targeted Iran's nuclear facility in Natanz, causing significant setbacks in the country's nuclear program. Iran accused the West, particularly NATO, of orchestrating the attack. Many believe that the United States and Israel were behind it. This paper aims to analyze how Stuxnet impacted Iran and the international community, as well as how cyber warfare has emerged as a new domain of conflict. The method used in this paper is qualitative descriptive through library research. The data used in this study are sourced from books, journals, news articles, and credible, relevant websites. The findings indicate that Stuxnet had a severe impact on Iran and the geopolitical situation at the time. It also highlighted the vulnerabilities of the digital world and their real-world consequences. Furthermore, Stuxnet demonstrated how cyber warfare has emerged as a new domain in modern conflict.

Abstract

Shopee, a Singapore-based e-commerce company, has shown an aggressive and well-planned expansion strategy across Southeast Asia, particularly in Indonesia. Its growth has not only transformed the way people engage in digital transactions but has also introduced new challenges regarding economic security and national digital sovereignty. Shopee’s dominance in the local market reflects regulatory gaps in protecting domestic businesses, as well as the limited government oversight of foreign digital platforms. This paper explores Shopee’s expansion strategy, targeted market segments, and the Indonesian government’s policy responses. Using the international political economy approach and the lens of non-traditional security, this research aims to examine how the presence of foreign platforms like Shopee can influence domestic regulations and generate strategic challenges for national sectors.

Abstract

Cultural diversity within the university environment is an inevitable reality, particularly within student organizations. The Student Association of the Islamic Communication and Broadcasting Study Program (HMPS KPI) at UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten is composed of students from various regions, each bringing distinct cultural backgrounds, languages, values, and communication styles. This study aims to examine the extent to which cultural differences influence social interaction among members of the organization, as well as how they build harmonious communication amidst these differences. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, using in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation with active members of HMPS KPI from various academic cohorts. The findings indicate that cultural differences affect communication styles, expression of ideas, decision-making processes, and perceptions of leadership structures. While such differences may sometimes lead to misunderstandings, they also serve as a strength in fostering an inclusive, open, and adaptive organizational atmosphere that welcomes diverse perspectives. In conclusion, cultural differences significantly influence social interactions within student organizations, but these challenges can be effectively managed through inclusive communication and cross-cultural understanding.

Abstract

The phenomenon of buzzers in digital advertising has become a critical concern in contemporary communication dynamics, due to their role in spreading covert messages for commercial and political purposes. This study aims to analyze the persuasive strategies and communication tactics of buzzers, algorithmic amplification patterns, and audience perceptions toward the disseminated content. Using a qualitative method through a systematic literature review, the study identifies three dominant buzzer strategies: native advertising, pseudo-influencer testimonials, and clickbait-based disinformation. These are often amplified through algorithmic tactics such as bot networks, trending hashtags, and endorsements by constructed influencer personas. Findings show that buzzer content is effective when perceived as authentic and emotionally engaging, but tends to generate resistance once users detect manipulation. The study’s implications highlight the need for greater transparency in digital communication, regulation of sponsored content, and improved media literacy to mitigate disinformation and public distrust. The research also emphasizes the importance of ethical approaches in digital communication practices to safeguard democratic integrity and sustainable brand–public relationships.
