Abstract

This study aims to analyze the pedagogical role of Islamic religious teachers in guiding students’ self-control at Madrasah Aliyah Zakiyun Najah, located in Firdaus Village, Sei Rampah District, Serdang Bedagai Regency. The research employs a field study method with a descriptive-analytical narrative approach. Primary data were obtained through direct observation and in-depth interviews with Islamic religious teachers and seventh-grade students as key informants. Data analysis was conducted through stages of reduction, categorization, and narrative interpretation to reveal the pedagogical meaning of the implemented teaching practices. The findings indicate that Islamic religious teachers play a strategic role through three main approaches: habituation of moral values, demonstration of moral exemplarity in daily behavior, and the application of educational sanctions that emphasize character formation. These approaches contribute to the development of students’ religious character, internal discipline, and the ability to regulate emotions and actions in accordance with Islamic ethical norms.

Abstract

This study aims to compare the effectiveness of the Qishah (storytelling) and lecture methods in teaching Islamic Cultural History at the secondary school level. Employing a mixed-methods approach with a convergent parallel design, quantitative data were gathered through student questionnaires and qualitative data through in-depth interviews with subject teachers. Quantitative data were analyzed descriptively and comparatively to examine differences in means, variances, and standard deviations between the two methods, while qualitative data were analyzed thematically to explore teachers’ insights and experiences in instructional practice. The findings indicate that both methods are effective in enhancing students’ understanding and engagement; however, the Qishah method demonstrates greater impact on affective and motivational dimensions by creating a more meaningful learning experience. Meanwhile, the lecture method remains valuable for reinforcing conceptual and structural comprehension.

Abstract

Leadership is recognized as a decisive factor in determining the success of educational institutions, influencing not only administrative performance but also the quality of teaching and learning outcomes. Using a quantitative research approach, data were collected from students at Madrasah Aliyah Swasta (MAS) Nahdhatul Islam Mancang, located in Selesai Subdistrict, Langkat Regency, through structured questionnaires distributed to 100 upper-grade students. The results reveal that the principal’s leadership style has a significant effect on student achievement, particularly through dimensions such as supervision, motivation, communication, and moral exemplarity. In Islamic education, leadership extends beyond managerial functions to encompass moral and spiritual responsibilities, reflecting values of uswah hasanah, syura, and amanah. The findings emphasize that effective leadership not only enhances academic success but also strengthens the moral and spiritual formation of students, thereby supporting the holistic goals of Islamic education.

Abstract

Compliance with the principles of fiqh muamalah serves as the fundamental pillar in maintaining the integrity of the Islamic banking system in Indonesia. In this context, Bank Muamalat Indonesia stands as a significant representation of how Sharia values are implemented within the framework of modern economic practice. This study provides an in-depth examination of the application of Sharia principles in the financing mechanisms of Bank Muamalat KCP Medan Baru, with a particular focus on murabahah and wakalah contracts. Using a qualitative approach and in-depth interviews with bank officials, the study found that all stages of the financing process—from application submission, identity verification, and feasibility analysis based on the 5C principle, to the execution of contracts—are conducted in accordance with the Fatwa of the National Sharia Council–Indonesian Ulema Council (DSN–MUI) and the Islamic Banking Law. The Sharia Supervisory Board (DPS) plays a crucial role in ensuring that all transactions remain free from elements of riba, gharar, and maisir. The findings reveal that the murabahah financing practices at Bank Muamalat are not merely driven by economic gain but are also deeply rooted in the fulfillment of Islamic ethical values and social justice.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the habituation of moral education through Akidah Akhlak lessons at MTS Muallimin UNIVA Medan and its impact on students’ ethical behavior. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observations, and documentation involving key informants, including teachers, the head of the madrasah, and students, supported by secondary sources such as books, theses, websites, and media reports. Data analysis was conducted through triangulation to ensure validity and reliability. The findings indicate that teachers’ role modeling, structured practice of ethical behaviors in daily school routines, and collaboration with parents and supportive facilities collectively foster students’ internalization of Akhlak values. Observable behaviors include neat uniform, punctuality, respect toward teachers and peers, diligence in learning, completion of assignments, and adherence to school rules. These results demonstrate that sustainable habituation of ethical education, grounded in Tarbawi pedagogy, effectively develops students’ moral character and prepares them to apply these values in broader societal contexts.

Abstract

This study investigates how hadith is recontextualized within TikTok’s viral culture, where short videos, humor, memes, and colloquial expressions increasingly shape the modes of Islamic da'wah. The rapid circulation of religious content on TikTok raises concerns regarding simplification, potential distortion, and the authority of hadith-based messages. Addressing this problem, the study aims to analyze the strategies used by digital creators to present and adapt hadith within a highly visual and fast-paced environment. Utilizing qualitative content analysis of trending hadith-centered da'wah videos and drawing on media recontextualization and digital religion frameworks, the findings show that creators commonly emphasize moral, motivational, and emotional elements to enhance accessibility for younger audiences. However, the study also identifies challenges such as meaning reduction, the spread of non-credible sources, and the commodification of religion driven by engagement metrics. The study concludes that while TikTok expands the reach of hadith-based da'wah, ensuring accuracy and ethical communication requires digital religious literacy, source verification, and collaboration among scholars and content creators.

Abstract

This study aims to uncover the subjective experience of spiritual happiness among members of the Pengajian Tauhid at Jalan Suluh, Gang Sabir No. 2, Medan City. The research focuses exclusively on participants’ lived experiences derived from tauhid teachings as conveyed through lectures by the preacher (mualim). Employing Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA), the study explores the lived experience of both long-standing senior members and younger participants, each bringing distinct life challenges. Data were collected through participant observation and in-depth interviews with purposively selected key informants who differed in their duration of involvement in the study circle.vFindings reveal four superordinate themes that constitute their spiritual happiness: (1) inner tranquility, (2) emotional stability, (3) discovery of life direction, and (4) the role of the majelis as a protective social identity fortress against negative peer influences. These experiential elements mutually reinforce one another, producing a holistic lived experience. Participants describe spiritual happiness as a profound sense of peace accompanied by a firm conviction that Allah will always provide a “way out” from every life difficulty.vThe study concludes that tauhid-centred religious study circles can serve as powerful spaces for cultivating spiritual well-being, offering an authentic expression of life’s meaning rooted in Allah that effectively alleviates existential anxiety, fortifies the self against harmful influences, and enables adaptive emotional self-regulation in the face of modern existential challenges.
