Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of Islamic religious education within Muslim families as a foundation for the development of children's spirituality. Utilizing a qualitative approach with a field study method, the research was conducted in the village of Pringgan Paya Pasir Marelan. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving seven randomly selected Muslim families. The findings reveal that Islamic education in the family is implemented through four main aspects: faith (ʿaqīdah), ethics (akhlāq), worship (ʿibādah), and social values, primarily through habituation and parental role modeling. However, the implementation faces several challenges, including limited religious knowledge among parents, reduced family interaction time due to economic demands, and the uncontrolled influence of digital media. These findings highlight the need to strengthen the family’s role in religious education through structural and collaborative support, ensuring that Islamic values are internalized from an early age. This research contributes to the discourse on family-based Islamic education and offers practical implications for nurturing a devout Muslim generation in the modern era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of parental involvement in Islamic religious education on students' religious discipline at YASPEN Cerdas Bangsa Junior High School, Sudi Rejo, Namorambe District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra. This research uses a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The research sample amounted to 40 students who were selected by total sampling. Data were collected through a closed questionnaire which was arranged based on indicators of parental involvement and indicators of student religious discipline. The results of the analysis show that the level of parental involvement in Islamic Religious Education is in the good category, while students' religious discipline is classified as very good. The correlation coefficient (rxy) obtained is 0.425, which is higher than the rt value at the 5% (0.312) and 1% (0.403) significance levels. Thus, there is a positive and significant relationship between parental involvement in Islamic education and students' religious discipline. This study confirms the importance of the active role of parents in fostering children's religious education as a foundation for the formation of religious character and disciplinary attitudes in the school environment.

Data collection techniques using questionnaires and documentation of student learning outcomes. The results showed that the correlation coefficient (r) value was 0.42, which based on the interpretation table was included in the category of a fairly strong relationship. Furthermore, the calculation of the coefficient of determination shows that interest in learning contributes 17.64% to learning outcomes, while the remaining 82.36% is influenced by other factors. Hypothesis testing shows that the t_count value of 3.204 is greater than the t_table of 2.010, so Hₐ is accepted and H₀ is rejected. Thus, there is a significant influence between interest in learning on student learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education subjects at SMP Negeri 29 Medan City.

Abstract

The development of social media has created a new space for the dissemination of philosophical discourse. This study aims to examine how the narrative of Javanese philosophy is constructed in the YouTube content of Frans Magnis Suseno. The method used is semiotic analysis based on Roland Barthes' approach, which distinguishes between denotative, connotative, and mythic meanings in both visual and verbal texts. The analysis reveals that Frans Magnis conveys core values of Javanese philosophy such as eling, nrimo, and sumeleh through simple, communicative narratives adapted to today's social context. These narratives not only popularize Javanese philosophy but also make it more accessible to younger generations through a modern visual format. This study highlights the significant potential of new media in transforming traditional discourses into a more inclusive digital domain.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the tradition of sajen in Javanese society through the lens of social theology. The research problem focuses on how the community interprets sajen and how social theology can be applied to analyze this phenomenon. Employing a qualitative method with a field study approach in Mawar Village, Langkat Regency, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal two primary dimensions of offering : first, as a spiritual expression related to the transcendent dimension of human existence; and second, as a social instrument that strengthens solidarity and cultural identity within the Javanese community. The continued practice of offering can therefore be understood not merely as a religious ritual but also as a manifestation of symbolic values expressed in the social sphere, which in turn reinforces communal cohesion and harmony.

Abstract

The current global ecological crisis reflects not only material environmental degradation but also a profound spiritual crisis of modern humanity. This article aims to analyze the concept of theophany in the thought of Seyyed Hossein Nasr as a metaphysical foundation for establishing an ecological ethic rooted in Islamic spirituality. The study employs a philosophical-interpretative approach with a qualitative hermeneutic method, reviewing primary and secondary literature, including Nasr’s major works. Thematic and hermeneutic analyses reveal the ontological, epistemological, ethical, and socio-theological dimensions of theophanic perspectives on nature. Findings indicate that, for Nasr, all reality manifests God (theophany), making nature a reflection of the Divine presence that must be safeguarded with moral and spiritual responsibility. Modern ecological crises arise from the loss of theophanic awareness, leading to the exploitation of nature without recognition of its sacred dimension. Restoring human consciousness to a sacred cosmic order positions theophany as the foundation of ecological ethics that integrates faith, knowledge, and daily practices. This study underscores that addressing environmental crises requires not only technological or policy interventions but a spiritual revolution that affirms humanity’s cosmic relationship with God and creation. The article contributes to the development of contemporary Islamic ecological philosophy and offers a conceptual framework for environmentally responsible practices grounded in transcendent values.
