Abstract

This research aims to deeply examine the role of family taklim (religious instruction) in facilitating and shaping children's moral education (akhlak) within the Jamaah Tabligh community in Bengkulu City. This study utilized a qualitative field research method in the form of a case study with a descriptive-analytical approach, seeking to interpret the phenomenon holistically. The research population included all Jamaah Tabligh families actively conducting taklim, while the sample consisted of 5-7 core families (parents and children) selected through a purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation study. Data analysis was applied using the Miles and Huberman interactive qualitative analysis model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that family taklim acts as an effective hidden curriculum in transferring the values of amar ma'ruf nahi munkar (enjoining good and forbidding wrong), creating a disciplined moral environment, and instilling Islamic morality in children. The recommendation from this study is the necessity of optimizing taklim material through the integration of contemporary issues and the development of taklim e-modules.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate in depth the implementation of the Cooperative Learning model in the management of multicultural-based Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning at SMK N 1 Bengkulu City, and to evaluate its effectiveness on the formation of morals and tolerance values. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical case study method, which was chosen to examine the phenomenon in a specific vocational school environment. The study population includes all academic components involved in the PAI learning process, with a sample consisting of the Principal, PAI Teachers, and selected students, determined through a purposive sampling technique. Primary data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, non-active participant observation in the classroom, and documentation studies such as Lesson Plans (RPP) and teacher notes. Data analysis used the qualitative analysis technique of the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, which includes data reduction, data presentation, as well as drawing conclusions and verification. The research findings reveal that the management of PAI learning successfully integrates multicultural values through a policy of forming very diverse groups, where Cooperative Learning acts as an effective social forum. Islamic Religious Education teachers act as managers of small-scale social conflicts, with an emphasis on managing social skills and group processing, which has a significant impact on increasing students' tolerance and empathy. This research recommendation highlights the importance of standardizing Islamic Religious Education classroom management curricula that explicitly adopt Cooperative Learning strategies as a managerial approach to addressing diversity in vocational schools.

Current moral crises manifest through problematic behaviors indicating weak internalization of religious values and insufficient synergy between educational institutions, families, and communities.Method: This study employs a library research methodology by reviewing relevant academic literature including journals, books, and scientific reports. This approach facilitates deep understanding of the research topic, theoretical analysis, and logical conclusion drawing regarding PAI function in character formation. Results: The findings demonstrate that PAI plays a central role in shaping Islamic character through internalizing values of honesty, discipline, responsibility, and tolerance. PAI serves as a moral bulwark protecting youth from negative technology impacts including decreased empathy and spiritual degradation. Obstacles include weak application of moral values in learning and lack of synergy between schools, families, and communities. While digital technology offers opportunities through virtual platforms, uncontrolled usage risks moral crises, necessitating wise integration that maintains alignment with Islamic values. Conclusion: PAI possesses an essential role in forming Muslim personalities with deep spiritual understanding while protecting students from modern era negative impacts through comprehensive Islamic teachings. Despite challenges regarding minimal ethical approaches and environmental influences, PAI must adapt to contemporary developments while maintaining Islamic identity and producing faithful generations with noble character.

Abstract

Multicultural Islamic education is conceptually positioned as a strategic approach to fostering Islamic character marked by tolerance, inclusivity, and ethical conduct among students. However, persistent cases of intolerance and exclusivist behavior in schools raise critical questions regarding the effectiveness of multicultural Islamic education in educational practice. This study employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method. Data were collected through critical analysis of scholarly books, journal articles, and relevant publications addressing multicultural Islamic education, Islamic character formation, and student intolerance. Data analysis was conducted thematically to identify patterns, trends, and gaps between theoretical concepts and educational practices. The findings indicate that multicultural Islamic education has not been optimally effective in shaping students’ Islamic character due to its predominantly formalistic and normative implementation. Weak pedagogical internalization and limited institutional policy support reduce its transformative impact within the educational environment. Multicultural Islamic education remains relevant for Islamic character development but requires revitalization through reflective pedagogy, contextual value internalization, and institutional integration into school policies and culture to effectively address student intolerance.

Abstract

Background: Indonesia, as a multicultural country, faces challenges of intolerance and radicalism that threaten social stability. North Bengkulu Regency, as a multicultural area, requires religious moderation strengthening strategies to maintain harmony among religious communities. Methods: This study employed a qualitative approach using case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation studies on the religious moderation strengthening program. Program evaluation utilized Ralph W. Tyler's model emphasizing planning, implementation, and outcomes aspects. Results: The program was implemented through the establishment of the Interfaith Religious Representatives Forum (FPUB), interfaith dialogue, communal work across religious groups, harmony camps, harmony parades, and moderation training. Five main supporting factors were identified: active roles of formal institutions, clear planning documents, open social conditions, involvement of religious leaders, and systematic program logic. Inhibiting factors included limited budget, restricted community understanding, and minimal competent human resources. Conclusion: The religious moderation strengthening program in North Bengkulu Regency successfully internalized moderate Islamic values through participatory community-based education approaches. The program implementation demonstrated strong alignment with Islamic education principles, particularly wasathiyah values, tolerance, and social justice in multicultural society contexts.

Abstract

Background: This article investigates the role of prayer as a religious coping strategy within an increasingly complex modern world where rapid social changes, competitive work demands, economic instability, and academic pressures create emotional strain requiring effective stress management mechanisms. Understanding how spiritual practices function psychologically becomes essential as unmanaged pressures evolve into chronic stress disrupting mental health.Method: Utilizing a qualitative library research methodology, this study examines primary and secondary literature including scientific journals and books related to spiritual coping and mental health. Data collection involved searching academic databases using keywords such as prayer, religious coping, and mental health, followed by systematic content analysis involving data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing with source triangulation for validity. Results: The findings demonstrate that prayer effectively alleviates emotional pressure through multiple psychological mechanisms including focused attention shifting from stress sources to hope, physiological relaxation responses reducing anxiety, reflective processes, and strengthened patience through spiritual surrender. Prayer builds life meaning and hope by connecting individuals with transcendental power while serving as a multidimensional religious coping strategy encompassing emotional management, meaning construction, and community support. Effectiveness varies according to religiosity levels, concentration quality during prayer, social support availability, practice consistency, and integration with complementary psychological interventions. Conclusion: Prayer constitutes an essential mechanism for facing life pressures through complementary psychological and spiritual pathways. It functions as comprehensive emotional regulation that calms thoughts, enhances mental resilience, and fosters hope. Effectiveness depends upon faith depth, devotional quality, and consistent practice. These findings emphasize the importance of holistic approaches integrating psychological and spiritual dimensions for optimal mental health maintenance in modern challenging environments.

Abstract

Background: Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) face the challenge of maintaining their traditional identity while responding to the demands of modernity, particularly regarding the relevance of the curriculum to scientific developments and societal needs. The Darul Ma'arif NU Islamic Boarding School in Rejang Lebong developed an integrative Salafiyah-Khalafiyah curriculum that combines the tradition of studying yellow books with the formal and vocational education systems. Methods: This research used a qualitative approach with a longitudinal case study design for the period 2021–2025. Data were collected through analysis of curriculum documents, in-depth interviews with Islamic boarding school administrators, and observations of learning activities. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of thematic reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña.Results: The Islamic boarding school curriculum was developed through a multi-level adaptive integration of the Salafiyah tradition, which focuses on deepening classical Islamic knowledge, with the Khalafiyah approach, which emphasizes 21st-century competencies, and the Merdeka Curriculum. The curriculum is organized holistically within the 24-hour Islamic boarding school ecosystem, encompassing formal education, Islamic boarding schools (madrasah diniyah), and Islamic boarding school activities. Conclusion: This integrative curriculum model successfully maintains the Islamic boarding school's identity while increasing the relevance of education to local social and economic needs. This research offers the concept of multilevel adaptive integration as a theoretical contribution to the development of contemporary Islamic boarding school curricula.

Abstract

Background: The current moral crisis, manifested through problematic behaviors, indicates a weak internalization of religious values and a lack of synergy between educational institutions, families, and society. Therefore, this study analyzes the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in shaping the character of the Muslim generation amidst modernization and identifies the challenges arising from digital technology.Method: This study employs a library research methodology by reviewing relevant academic literature, including journals, books, and scientific reports. This approach facilitates a deep understanding of the research topic, theoretical analysis, and the formulation of logical conclusions regarding the function of PAI in character formation. Results: Research findings indicate that PAI plays a central role in shaping Islamic character through the internalization of values such as honesty, discipline, responsibility, and tolerance. PAI also functions as a moral fortress protecting youth from the negative impacts of technology, including diminished empathy and spiritual degradation. However, there are obstacles in the form of weak application of moral values in learning and a lack of synergy between schools, families, and society. Although digital technology offers opportunities through virtual platforms, uncontrolled use remains at risk of causing a moral crisis, thus requiring wise integration that maintains alignment with Islamic values. Conclusion: PAI has an essential role in forming Muslim personalities with a deep spiritual understanding while protecting students from the negative impacts of the modern era through comprehensive Islamic teachings. Despite facing challenges related to the lack of ethical approaches and environmental influences, PAI must adapt to contemporary developments to maintain Islamic identity and cultivate a faithful generation with noble character.
