Abstract

Village funds are used to improve the welfare of rural communities and develop various regions in Indonesia, including the 3T (frontier, remote, and disadvantaged) areas in Eastern Indonesia. Therefore, this study uses the Panel Least Square method to see the consequence of village, education, and health funds on poverty levels, especially in 7 provinces in Eastern Indonesia using yearly data 2017-2022. The realization of village funds, education funds, and health funds are used as independent variables, while the percentage of poor people is used as a dependent variable. The study results show that village fund and health fund significantly reduce poverty rates in Eastern Indonesia. Meanwhile, the education fund did not significantly reduce poverty in Eastern Indonesia. Although village and health funds can reduce poverty in Eastern Indonesia, the government should prioritize improving the education level of the region's people to significantly alleviate poverty.

Abstract

Aspects of community education, namely the average length of schooling (RLS) and Community Vocational Skills (CVS), are important to know community welfare, one of which is seen from the open unemployment rate (TPT). Thisstudy aims to analyze: (1) The relationship between RLS and TPT, (2) The effect of CVS on TPT, (3) The role of economic growth (EG) as a moderator between RLS and TPT, and (4) The role of economic growth (EG) as moderation between CVS and TPT, in Sidoarjo, East Java using 2019-2023 data. Using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method, the findings show that people's vocational skills are the main thing that affects TPT levels. However, the study notes that economic growth failed to moderate the relationship between RLS and CVS on TPT. The role of the government is crucial to improve vocational skills in the form of massive training for prospective workers with related industries.

Abstract

The level of labor absorption and distribution of community income does not follow the large value of GRDP and investment. This study aims to analyze the effect of development and investment in the agricultural sector on labor absorption and the distribution of income. This study used a quantitative descriptive with secondary data and multiple linear regression analysis. The analysis is divided into two models, the first model is to analyze the impact of development and investment on labor absorption, while the second model is on the distribution of income. The first model shows that agricultural development has a significant effect on labor absorption, while agricultural investment has no significant effect. The second model shows that agricultural development has a significant effect on income distribution while agricultural investment has no significant effect. The implication is that the government implements policies that encourage productivity, as well as equal distribution of supporting facilities.

Abstract

One of the infrastructures built to enhance global relations in Yogyakarta is Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA), located in Kulon Progo Regency. The airport is also equipped with supporting infrastructure, namely Airport Train. The government hopes that the construction of YIA will have an impact on the economy, especially the DIY Province, both directly and indirectly. Thus, this study aims to identify the impact of the economic shock of the construction of YIA using the 2016 DIY Province 52 Industry Input-Output tables issued and updated by the Central Bureau of Statistics in May 2021. This study found that the multiplier effect on the economy is greater than economic shocks with the construction sector being the most affected sector with a value of IDR 12.8 trillion. It can be concluded that the construction of YIA and its supporting infrastructure brought a positive impact on the economy of DIY Province due to the increase in economic growth as well as the increase in GRDP and the economy of its society directly.

Abstract

Prevalence of Undernourishment (PoU) is an indicator that measures the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal’s 2nd goal. Empirical evidence shows that in 2018-2022) Indonesia’s PoU continued to increase. Therefore, this study aims to determine factors that influence the level of PoU in Indonesia through food expectations, producer price index, food security budget, community purchasing power, and social assistance in the food sector. The novelty of this study is trying to trace the relationship between those variables towards Indonesia's PoU. To achieve this goal, multiple regression analysis was used with secondary data. The results show that the producer price index, food security budget, and community purchasing power had a significant effect on Indonesia's PoU level. Meanwhile, food expectations and social assistance did not have a significant effect on Indonesia's PoU level. This study implies that the government needs to evaluate various food security programs to maximize the reduction of Indonesia's PoU.

Abstract

The research aims to analyze: (1) the basic sector and regional specialization of regencies/cities in West Timor, (2) the impact of center and hinterland interactions on regional leakage in regencies/cities in West Timor. The research was carried out in 5 regencies and 1 city in West Timor. The research uses secondary data and primary data (obtained using the snowball technique). The research results state that interactions occur due to the existence of basic commodities, but not necessarily regional specialization. The research results also found that there was a leak from the Hinterland area to the center in West Timor of IDR 757,606,232,- because the benefit center was IDR 1,164,004,961,- while the hinterland benefit was IDR 406,398,729,-. Belu Regency is the regency that received a surplus (IDR 44,746,514). Therefore, each district/city is obliged to determine base commodities and strive for specialization so as to obtain a surplus from center-hinterland interactions.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the model of Indonesia's economic growth in 2013-2022 with dynamic panel data through the SYS-GMM and FD-GMM approaches, so that the variables that influence short-term and long-term economic growth can be identified. The research method used is quantitative descriptive analysis. The data used comes from the Central Statistics Agency of 34 provinces in Indonesia 2013-2022. This study found that economic growth was significantly positively influenced by the variables of inflation, foreign investment, and household consumption. Economic growth is significantly negatively affected by domestic investment variables, regional minimum wages, and open unemployment rates. Inflation, foreign investment, and household consumption have short-term impacts on economic growth, while domestic investment, regional minimum wages, and the open unemployment rate have long-term impacts on economic growth. Research finds economic growth is influenced by the previous year. The policy implication is that the government focuses on factors that increase economic growth.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the vulnerability of small-scale fishermen in the Roban Coastal Area through fast variables and slow variables, identify the adaptive capacity of fishermen to social-ecological changes, and analyze the resilience strategy of fishermen in facing rapid social-ecological changes due to national strategy projects. The method used was a mixed method with descriptive statistical analysis and 100 small-scale fishermen were taken as samples through purposive sampling. The results obtained show that the level of vulnerability of small-scale fishermen is in the high vulnerability category with a score of 7.89, the most vulnerable indicator is dependence on nature. The Roban Coastal small-scale fishermen resilience strategy is carried out through interdependence between stakeholders (academics, business people, government, and community) by obtaining the results that need to pay attention to several aspects (social, environmental, economic) in facing changes so that fishermen have a resilient level of resilience.

Abstract

In Special Region of Yogyakarta, housing backlog is caused by supply and demand gap for mid-cost housing, limited capacity of developers, and low housing affordability for low-income people. This research aims to analyze the influence of social stratification on consumer preference for mid cost housing on housing developments and on non-clustered housing areas as well as the desired attributes of mid-cost housing. This research employed descriptive and inductive statistics with chi square test. Purposive sampling was employed with a sample size of 220 respondents were collected through interviews, questionnaires, observations, and literature review. The result show social stratification influences consumer preference for mid-cost housing on both areas. The desired attributes included location, physical characteristics, legal documents, neighborhood, and amenities. It is important for the local government to implement relevant policies and mortgage financing policies as well as provide supporting infrastructure and facilities for its development to ensure residential areas contribute to regional development.

Abstract

Since the reform era 1999, Indonesia has made a regional proliferation policy and widespread fiscal decentralization policy. Based on the Leviathan hypothesis, the two policies should create a competitive climate and increase the efficiency of government spending. This study aims to analyze the Leviathan hypothesis in Indonesia's regional proliferation policy and fiscal decentralization. The study uses panel data regression from 32 provinces during the 2002-2020 period. The study finds that the Leviathan hypothesis does not apply to Indonesia's regional proliferation and fiscal decentralization policies. Fiscal decentralization and government fragmentation apparently cannot constrain local government size. They have a significant positive effect on increasing it. The results of this study imply that to obtain tangible benefits from regional expansion, a thorough understanding of regional economic potential is needed, as well as the need to improve the quality of human resources to utilize regional potentials optimally.
