Abstract

This study aimed to determine the relationship between sociolinguistic competence and Indonesian speaking skills among students of the Indonesian Language Education Study Program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar. The study employed a quantitative approach using a correlational research design. The population consisted of 250 students, while 100 students were selected as the sample through purposive sampling. The research instruments included a sociolinguistic competence questionnaire and a speaking skills performance test. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality tests, linearity tests, Pearson Product Moment correlation, and coefficient of determination with the assistance of SPSS version 26. The results revealed that students’ sociolinguistic competence was categorized as high, with a mean score of 82.45. A total of 65% of students were classified in the high category, 28% in the moderate category, and 7% in the low category. Meanwhile, students’ speaking skills were categorized as good, with a mean score of 80.12. Approximately 61% of students were in the good category, 31% in the moderate category, and 8% in the low category. The normality test indicated that the data were normally distributed, while the linearity test confirmed a linear relationship between the variables. Pearson Product Moment correlation analysis produced a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.684 with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). These findings indicate a positive and significant relationship between sociolinguistic competence and speaking skills. Furthermore, the coefficient of determination showed that sociolinguistic competence contributed 46.8% to students’ speaking skills, while the remaining 53.2% was influenced by other factors not examined in this study. Therefore, sociolinguistic competence can be considered an important factor in improving students’ speaking skills.

Abstract

This study examines the legal provisions for the cancellation of the appointment of elected members of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) in 2024 from the perspective of the open proportional representation system in Indonesia. The main issue examined is how the mechanism for canceling the appointment of elected candidates is regulated in legislation and its implications for the principles of popular sovereignty, legal certainty, and the legitimacy of election results. This study uses a normative juridical method with a statutory, conceptual, and case-based approach. The legal materials used include Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections, KPU Regulation Number 6 of 2024, Constitutional Court decisions, and various relevant legal literature. The results show that the cancellation of the appointment of elected candidates can occur due to resignation, death, ineligibility, dismissal from a political party, or a decision by an authorized institution. However, the practice of cancellation in the 2024 Election still raises legal issues, particularly related to legal uncertainty and the potential weakening of the principle of majority vote. The open proportional representation system, which places voters as the primary determinant of elected candidates, also has the potential to be disrupted if the cancellation is not carried out transparently and accountably. Furthermore, the cancellation of the determination of elected candidates can undermine public trust in the election process and shift the meaning of popular sovereignty. Therefore, regulatory strengthening and policy harmonization are needed to ensure that the cancellation of the determination of elected candidates remains in line with the principles of constitutional democracy in Indonesia.

Abstract

The increasing complexity of the educational sector requires educational institutions to focus not only on technical management aspects but also on the development of interpersonal relationships within organizations. The Human Relations approach emphasizes the importance of effective communication, collaboration, motivation, and job satisfaction in enhancing organizational effectiveness. This article aims to examine the role of the Human Relations approach in fostering a quality culture and improving educational organizational performance. The study employed a library research method by analyzing relevant books, scientific journals, conference proceedings, and research reports. Data were analyzed using content analysis through identification, classification, interpretation, and synthesis of information. The findings indicate that the Human Relations approach contributes to the development of a quality culture through five key dimensions: organizational communication enhancement, work motivation strengthening, participative leadership development, teamwork improvement, and the creation of a conducive organizational climate. These dimensions promote organizational member engagement, strengthen commitment to quality, and support sustainable educational management effectiveness. Theoretically, this study reinforces the understanding that social and psychological factors are strategic elements in establishing a quality culture in education. Practically, the findings provide guidance for school principals, teachers, and educational managers in creating productive work environments oriented toward continuous improvement. The novelty of this article lies in its comprehensive synthesis that integrates Human Relations, quality culture, and educational organizational performance into a unified conceptual framework.

Abstract

Vocational High School (SMK) education plays a crucial role in preparing students to enter the workforce. However, despite the provision of technical education and vocational skills, the primary challenge faced by SMK graduates is their readiness to face the demands of the workforce, particularly regarding character and soft skills. Today's workforce prioritizes not only technical skills but also interpersonal skills, discipline, and a strong work ethic. Therefore, character development for SMK students is crucial to increasing competitiveness in the job market. Character education is a crucial aspect of education. A mature SMK student's character can be invaluable capital for entering the workforce. However, this character-building process does not occur solely in the classroom; it requires a holistic approach integrated with various activities and experiences outside the formal curriculum. Therefore, character development needs to be strengthened through more practical and applicable educational programs that can help students understand the importance of values such as responsibility, hard work, and a positive attitude at work. In fact, employment agreements can be made not only in writing but also verbally. However, for fixed-term employment, the agreement must be made in writing to prevent negative consequences at the end of the employment agreement, such as workers demanding reemployment even though the employment agreement has expired, thereby harming the employer. For indefinite-term employment agreements, the employment agreement can also be made verbally, which applies to permanent workers.

Abstract

This article synthesizes literature on digital literacy in community-based non-formal education, focusing on adult learning, the digital divide, and empowerment. The study employed a systematic literature review guided by PRISMA 2020. Searches were conducted through Scopus-oriented sources, Google Scholar, Garuda, Sinta, DOAJ, and ERIC for publications from 2019 to 2026. Of 38 records screened, 32 articles were included in the core thematic synthesis. The analysis used four lenses: adult learning, community-based strategies, the digital divide, and empowerment. The findings show that digital literacy in non-formal education is not merely a matter of technical device mastery, but a social learning process shaped by practical needs, mentoring, peer tutoring, learning communities, and institutional support. The digital divide appears in access, skills, confidence, autonomy of use, and the ability to gain tangible benefits. In Indonesia, community learning centers, villages, youth communities, women groups, and micro-enterprise groups can become strategic spaces for linking digital literacy with socio-economic empowerment.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate a management-based educational implementation model oriented toward the development of individual potential among elementary school students. The study employed a literature review method with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data sources consisted of relevant scientific journal articles and methodological books addressing educational management, school leadership, differentiated instruction, student agency, assessment, and student potential development. Data were analyzed through identification, selection, categorization, content analysis, and synthesis of findings from various studies. The results identified five major components of management-based educational implementation: (1) mapping students’ potential as the basis for educational planning, (2) school leadership as a driver of potential development, (3) differentiated instruction as a strategy for developing individual potential, (4) active student involvement through student agency, and (5) continuous assessment as a basis for evaluation and improvement. These five components are interconnected and require support from teacher competence, school resources, an inclusive educational culture, and collaboration with families. The proposed model positions students at the center of educational implementation, while school management functions as the direction-setter, driver, and controller of the potential development process. Therefore, management-based educational implementation needs to move beyond an administrative orientation toward an adaptive, data-informed, participatory, and development-oriented system that supports both the academic and non-academic growth of every student.
