Abstract

Abstract This research will discuss the Koran that lives in coastal communities in Madura, specifically in the Masalembu archipelago, Sumenep. The living Quran study framework is used to explore the reception of the Koran at the functional level of fishing communities. This research uses a descriptive-analytic method with a discursive tradition approach. Questions to be answered: First, how is the reception of the Al-Qur'an by the Masalembu people in the Toron Parao slametan tradition? and second, how the discursive traditions are formed within it? The basis of the research is a field study whose data sources are obtained from interviews and observations, plus several literature reviews. From this goal, it will result; first, in the slametan toron parao tradition in Masalembu, the letters of the Koran used are closely related to the hope of safety, wealth, and avoidance of evil; secondly, a ritual leader (kiai) has a central role in the tradition and the community entrusts his role from generation to generation. Apart from that, people's belief in the magical side of the Koran forms a religious pattern for coastal people and Madurese in general. Keywords: Living Qur'an, Slametan Toron Prao, Madura Coast

Abstract

Abstract The practice of the ruqyah’s verses often provides stereotypes, unvaforable judgement and claim in the society despite its religious affiliation. One of the stereotypes created paradigm shaped by ruqyah’s tradition as a healing tradition. Even the sentiment of religious institution is a new issue that is ravaging religious as a system of stability in this new modern era. From that causes many religious institutions who elevate their primary objectives not to religion but the interest of pragmatism-politism. In this research, the author will reveal two things that are the subject of ruqyah: First, how the practice of ruqyah is in one of the religious institutions? Second, how the sunni mufasir views the ruqyah’s verses? In this research, the author will use a qualitative approach with analitycal descriptive methods with hypothetical model of library research with the interpretation of mafatihul ghaib as a representative of the sunni mufasir and the Jamiyah Ruqyah aswaja (JRA)’s guide book based on the theory of the qur’an reception, the structural functionalism and ritual perspective Emil Durkhaim. The rest of this research also collected data from various works (books/holly books) and was supported by observation and interviews. The reception of practice in Jamiyah Ruqyah aswaja (JRA) can be implemented into three receptions which are aesthetic, exegent, and fucntional reception. The Verses, there are several passages relevant into the view of the Ar-Razi comparising such as the verses of Syifa’, Al-Alaq, Al-Fatihah, Verses of Qursy, Al-Insyirah, and the scrap of magic. But there are several verses that have no relevance to the view of fakhruddin Ar-Razi wich includes the tortured verses, Verses of arsonist, verses of cataract disease, and verses of cancer cure. Key words: Verses of Ruqyah, Al-Qur’an Reception, Jamiyah Ruqyah Aswaja (JRA) Institution, Structural Functionalism

Abstract

Abstract For Muslims, the Qur'an serves not only as a guide to life but also as a holy book that is read. Reading the Qur'an with tartil is highly recommended by the Prophet to his followers and is rewarded. Currently, the recitation of the Qur'an is expressed in various ways. These include reciting Surah Yusuf and Maryam to pregnant women, reciting Surah Yaasin in social gatherings, reciting the entire Qur'an, and reciting it at different times and locations. For example, the habit of practising Qur'anic 'Tadarus' in schools every morning, reciting it in people's homes every Thursday, in orphanages every day, and in Musala or Mosque every Ramadan. This research aims to explore the phenomenon of Qur'anic Tadarus every Ramadan in Musala Al-Huda Janti. Abstract

Abstract The Sufistic tradition is a significant aspect of Islamic civilisation's history and a new direction in Qur'anic interpretation methodology. The epistemology developed by the Sufis for interpreting the Qur'an is closely tied to the symbolism of the holy verses, which metaphorically presented as the sacred soul's orientation towards God. The Sufis interpret the verses by delving into their meaning with doctrines and spiritual experiences, going beyond the text's literal meaning. This style of interpretation represents a distinct variation in the field of interpretation. It becomes two variants, namely nadzari and isyari. The author aims to show how the Sufi paradigm affects the interpreting world. The discourse surrounding Sufi interpretation and its development over time will be explored. This research aims to reveal, unravel, and trace the growth of the discourse of interpretation throughout history using the historical analytical method and literature references. The study concludes that the natural Sufi figures interpret the Qur'an by synchronising it with their received signals, focusing on 'al-ahwal' and 'al-maqamat', commonly known as: 'tasawuf stations.' The phenomenon of Sufi interpretation is noteworthy due to the variety of responses it elicits, both supportive and critical. It is important to note that the trend of Sufism studies must impact the realm of Qur'anic interpretation, as the Qur'an will continue to be the focus of attention and research in the development of science. Abstract

Abstract Online tahfidz is a programme for memorizing the Qur'an online, using platforms such as Instagram, WhatsApp, websites, and others. This research aims to answer two queries: First, what motivates the organizers and participants of the online Tahfidz community? Second, what methods are used to memorize the Qur'an online? This qualitative study of the Living Qur'an uses a phenomenological approach and descriptive-analytical methods. The data were collected through interviews, while the informants were the organizers and participants of the online Tahfidz community. The research concludes that the motivation of the online Tahfidz community organizers is as follows: 1) The occurrence of the pandemic, 2) To preach the Qur'an teachings to the wider community, and 3) To redirect the usage of social media away from negative activities. On the other hand, participants' motivations include 1) Utilizing online media and 2) The ease of access to learning. The methods used to memorize the Qur'an include the bin-nazar method, Tahfidz, Takrir, Tasmi', Talaqqi, and Muraja'ah. The research concluded that this online tahfidz is a breakthrough that is effective and desirable amid the rapid development of technology and the busy activities of urban communities. Abstract

Abstract One thing that is often highlighted about Islam is it misperception and doctrine regarding women and their relationships with men. This spotlight drew responses from reformist thinkers by reinterpreting several doctrinal sources about women. No matter how re-interpretations have been put forward, the scriptural and textual of classical sources quite clearly obstruct such re-interpretations. There is a gap between equality as a universal ideal and explicit doctrine alongside concrete practice as reality. Facing this gap, the authors try to reconstruct the image of Islam regarding women using critical discourse analysis. For this reason, the authors offer two problem formulations; first, how did Islamic text depict women? Second, how did Islam determine the relational patterns of men and women? Answering these two formulations, the authors find two hypotheses that al-Qur'an itself give rise to a perceptive feedback about women which their characteristics that presented by al-Qur'an are in line with the stigmatic view of them. Apart from that, in the relational realm, al-Qur'an raises verses which then legitimize subordinating interpretations and practices towards women. Keywords: Women, Islam, Equality, Al-Qur'an
