Abstract

Abstract Tafsir Al-Hijri is an interpretation work that has adorned the world of interpretation in Indonesia and served as a bridge for people to understand the content of the Qur'an. This interpretation presents itself as a solution to the problems faced by people. Therefore, the methodology and systematics of writing this tafsir are worth investigating. This research aims to map the methodology of interpreting Tafsir Al-Hijri, including its physiological data, origins, methods, and related aspects. Qualitative research methods with an interpretive approach were used to review the interpretation and provide an assessment. The data analysis method used the Miles and Huberman model, which involves data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The research reveals that Tafsir Al-Hijri is a non-academic tafsir that originated from "Shafahi" interpretation (delivered orally) and was later documented. Abstract

Abstract Aswaja is the dominant Islamic sect in the world level, especially in Indonesia. This dominant position necessitates Aswaja's moderate, tolerant and inclusive attitude towards minorities, such as "splinter" Islamic ideas and movements. Unfortunetly, Aswaja's attitude towards these minor entities tends to be exclucive, even persecutive, as proven by the coercive elimination of the Shiite and Ahmadiyah sects. Through the MUI, this coercive elimination is becoming stronger, as evidenced by a series of physical attacks against these two groups and other groups deemed heretical. This attack is contraproductive to moderation as Aswaja's own doctrine as well as the character of national and state life. On that basis, I will elaborate on Gus Dur's thoughts about hereticy and how to respond it by ellaborating on the verses of the Qur'an along with the preaching verses in Q.S. al-Naḥl [16]: 125 uses Syaḥrūr ḥudūd theory. For this reason, this article will answer two problem formulations. First, what is the Qur'an conception about hereticy? Second, how does Gusdurian's preaching formula address other "deviant" groups? Regarding the first question, the article – by basing itself on the intepretation of Sunni scholars – finds that the deviant version of the Qur'an is aimed at non-Sunni groups. However, the Qur'an proposes three models of da'wah, none of which justifies violence either at the level of discourse, let alone physically. On the other hand, we must place deviant groups as dialogue partners, non an object of exclution and persecution. Keywords: Aswaja, Gus Dur, Da'wah, Hereticy, Tolerance

Abstract

Abstract The incessant contestation of da'wah has given the community ample opportunities for expression. However, those who lack religious insight often disregard the fundamental principles and values that should form the basis of da'wah. This situation is concerning for Muslims as it could potentially become a parasite on the existence of the Islamic religion itself. Meanwhile, the Qur'an contains many verses containing ibrah (lessons) regarding the pattern of da'wah through the presentation of stories. Therefore, to refresh the da'wah pattern that is offensive, open, and humanistic, the author will examine the verses of the Qur'an that tell the story of the da'wah of the Prophet Ibrahim. There are two things that the author will discuss, namely: 1) What are the theological values of the Prophet Ibrahim's da'wah? 2) what are the moral values of the Prophet Ibrahim's da'wah? The following two formulations will be revealed based on the pragmatic perspective of the Qur'an by focusing on two theories: speech act theory to assess the speaking patterns of Prophet Ibrahim when doing da'wah and implicature theory to find the intended value based on the implications of the speech expressed by Prophet Ibrahim. The research concludes: First, The theological values in the da'wah of Prophet Ibrahim prioritize rationality and reject religious fanaticism propaganda and tyranny. The da’wah model of Prophet Ibrahim embodies these values. Second, The value of morality in the da'wah of Prophet Ibrahim is evident in his polite attitude in da'wah towards his parents and his courage to uphold the truth through non-verbal means (da'wah bil hal), as well as da'wah through parenting models to children which are carried out persuasively and offensively. Abstract

Abstract Qiyâm al-laîl is considered one of the most important acts of worship and the noblest obedience recommended by Sharia. It contains two inseparable elements: fiqh and Sufistic. Qiyâm al-laîl is prescribed by Sharia as a form of worship while also containing Sufistic elements aimed at getting closer to Allah. This raises the question of how Tafsir Ahkam and Tafsir Sufi interpret the verses related to qiyâm al-laîl? This article aims to examine qiyâm al-laîl from the perspectives of Sufi Ulama and Ahkam Ulama and compare the two. The study employs qualitative library research using descriptive-analytical methods to explore the data obtained. The results of the study indicate that qiyâm al-laîl involves enlivening the night with primary practices such as tahajjud prayers, witr, reading the Qur'an, dhikr, and contemplation with a sense of solemnity, tawadhu', thuma'ninah, and others. Secondly, it is understood by Ahkam Ulama that qiyâm al-laîl is a command from Allah to the Prophet and his ummah, in addition to obligatory worship. Thirdly, Sufi Ulama interpret the verses of qiyâm al-laîl and conclude that becoming accustomed to waking up at night to pray to Allah is one of the exercises that revitalizes the heart, brings peace of mind, and brings one closer to God. The grand conclusion is that the interpretations of the two Ulama with different backgrounds have a complementary relationship. Both refer to clear sources, but their different scientific backgrounds lead to differing interpretations still within Islam's realm. Keywords: Qiyâm al-Laîl, Tafsir Ahkam, and Tafsir Sufi

Abstract

Abstract The issue of non-muslim leadership in a country with a majority muslim population, but not in the form of a religious state like Indonesia or secular countries, appears to be a necessity. Indonesian citizens feel this concern, while the general public may not share the same view. That is evident from the resistance often expressed in various mass actions in the name of religion, with various interests behind them. This paper aims to answer two questions: How do certain groups resist non-muslim leaders in Indonesia? What are the variations and interests of resistance to non-muslim leaders that surround them? The research is qualitative and focuses on library research. Michel Foucault's theory and the phenomenological study approach are used to thoroughly analyse the meaning of the participants' perspectives on themselves and their society. The study concludes that resistance to non-Muslim leaders is divided into three groups: Firstly, FPI was formed due to dissatisfaction with the role of the government, the injustice and suffering of Indonesian muslims, and the duty of Muslims to uphold the dignity of religion and muslims itself. Secondly, HTI was formed to reject the democratic political system and demand the establishment of an Islamic caliphal system. Thirdly, MUI is a group formed to reject things on social and religious excuses. Keywords: Non-Muslim Leaders, Religious Organizations, Phenomenology

Abstract

Abstract Social media is not solely a tool for communication and sharing positive information. Instead, platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram have become breeding grounds for hate speech. The Qur'an promotes the creation of a harmonious social environment rather than one of hatred. This article explores the Qur'an's role in building morals, strengthening faith, and fostering brotherhood. Secondly, hate speech on social media poses a danger to the principle of Unity in Diversity in Indonesia. Thirdly, hate speech on social media is considered to be contrary to Pancasila, which emphasises unity. This research adopts a library research methodology using an interpretative sociological approach. The material is presented using a thematic systematics approach combined with Travis Hirschi's social control theory analysis. The research draws the following conclusions: Firstly, the Qur'an prohibits all forms of hate speech on social media that cause harm and loss to oneself, others, and society. Secondly, hate speech on social media has various implications, including psychological, political, economic, educational, and health aspects. Thirdly, provocative elements in hate speech on social media cause divisions in society. Keywords: Qiyâm al-Laîl, Tafsir Ahkam, and Tafsir Sufi

Abstract

Abstract Functionally, citizenship was initiated in the West by Aristotle during the Ancient Greek period, in the sense that citizenship was held only by the state apparatus. Citizenship evolved from functional to national after the emergence of the nation-state. Citizenship also emerged in the Islamic world when al-Farabi categorized citizens into small, medium, and large communities. Al-Maududi also popularised the concept of muslim and dhimmi citizens within the Islamic state. Some of these ideas have influenced the concept of citizenship worldwide, including Indonesia. It is noteworthy that despite having a majority muslim population, Indonesia's laws are positive laws based on the agreement of the founding fathers, rather than religious law as in some Islamic countries. This research will trace the influence of the above ideas on Hamka by answering two main questions: why was Hamka so concerned about citizenship in Indonesia, and how does he explain the concept of citizenship in his tafsir? Fazlur Rahman's double movement hermeneutics is used to interpret the classical meaning in the context of Hamka's social reality, which intersects with Christianisation, secularisation, modernisation, and classical Minangkabau tradition. The analysis concludes that Hamka's concept of citizenship is closely linked to the political upheavals experienced during the Old Order and New Order periods. This can be traced through his discussions about state issues, including the system of government, the status of citizens, as well as their rights and obligations. Abstract

Abstract Inter-religious harmony is one of the main pillars for the maintenance of the unity of the people and the nation. This is because creating harmony will help build a solid and harmonious life. So that people can live in peace, respect each other, appreciate equality in the practice of religious teachings, and be able to cooperate in society, nation and state. This research aims to answer two questions by using descriptive-analytical method and qualitative approach, namely What is the concept of inter-religious harmony according to Jane Dammen McAuliffe and Muhammad Abduh? And how is the concept of harmony implemented according to both perspectives? This research concludes that both Jane Dammen McAuliffe and Muhammad Abduh recognize the Qur'anic tolerance towards religious communities outside Islam to implement the law (sharia) that applies to the teachings of their religion, and the law is not produced by mutual agreement, but is self-affirmed from the teachings of the holy book of any religious community; Islam, Christianity, Judaism and others. Having said that, these two figures are not only similar but also differing. The difference can be seen from the background of these two, who have different religious backgrounds - Christianity and Islam. So when both speak or discuss their respective religions, there must be a subjective element involved, such as giving priority to each other's religions. Abstract

Abstract After the Prophet's and the Companions' absence, subsequent generations tried to interpret the Qur'an. That led to the emergence of various methods, tendencies, and understandings. However, it is important to note that the Qur'an being interpreted is the same. Differences in interpretation only became apparent when Muslims faced the complexity of problems that arose with the growth of Islamic civilisation. This research aims to discuss two topics: firstly, the epistemology of Shia interpretation, and secondly, Hashim al-Mousawi's perspective on the Qur'an in the book 'Al-Qur'an fi Madrasati Ahlil Bait.' This research aims to answer two formulations: Firstly, What is the epistemology of Shia interpretation? Secondly, How is Hashim al-Mousawi's perspective on the Qur'an in the book 'Al-Qur'an fi Madrasati Ahlil Bait'? Meanwhile, the study aims, first, to uncover Hasyim Al-Mousawi's views on the existence of the Qur'an in the book mentioned above. The second is to identify the advantages and disadvantages of Hasyim Al-Mousawi's analysis in the book when examining the Qur'an. As the data to be analysed is literary, this research will be conducted using a non-interactive approach, in which data will be collected through document analysis of library materials. Furthermore, by analysing the thoughts of Hashim Al-Mousawi, a Shia scholar, we can observe his method of thought and any inconsistencies or biases in his defence of the imams of Ahlu Bait when interpreting the Qur'an. The research concludes that Shia is heavily influenced by a model of interpretation based on intuition, commonly known as irfani. Secondly, Hashim Al-Mousawi is meticulous in using riwayah, clearly identifying them to ensure their accountability as supporting evidence. Keywords: Tafsir, Shia, Ahlul Bayt

Abstract

Abstract Pesantren does not only teach the Qur’an but also tafsir with the finished classical books of tafsir, like Tafsîr Jalalayn, Ibnu Katsîr, and others. On the contrary, study of tafsîr in PP. Annuqayah of Lubangsa area is not focused on of those books only, it is personally delivered by KH. Muhammad Shalahuddin leaving the finished classical book of tafsir. This article would like to expres how the methodology of KH.Muhammad Shalahuddin Qur’anic interpretations is? And how the contextualization of KH. Muhammad Shalahuddin Qur’anic interpretations is? The theories which are used to frame those questions are the methodology of Islah Gusmian and contextual approach of Abdullah Saeed. This is compiled by using qualitative-descriptive method, by field research approximation. It shows: First, the methodology of KH Muhammad Shalahuddin Qur’anic interpretations is using is serial presentation based on serial of chapters in standard model of mushaf with detail presentation form. It is using reporting literary style. It is included in non-scientific writing form. It comes from non-academic spaces, but it uses thought interpretation method with semiotic analysis and contextual approach which full of social nuance; Second, the contextualization of KH Muhammad Shalahuddin Qur’anic interpretations appears in the Qur’an chapter al-Baqarah 30-35 which is included into instructional values among the five hierarchy values. By completing four stages which are formulated by Abdullah Saeed, KH. Muhammad Shalahuddin contextualizes the comprehension to the verses with various social contemporary common accidents around the boarding school. He directs the social wisdom from the verses for any problems today. Keywords: Methodology, Contextualization, KH. Muhammad Shalahuddin
