Abstract

This article explores Al-Ghazali's views on student development in Islamic education, from the basic concept of students as spiritual beings with a natural disposition towards goodness, the importance of ethics or manners in connecting knowledge with teachers, the formation of a holistic character that unites spiritual, intellectual, moral, social, and physical aspects, plus the role of teachers as moral role models. In essence, education today is often fragmented, neglecting the spiritual and ethical dimensions, thus causing a serious moral crisis. To resolve this, I conducted a qualitative analysis of Al-Ghazali's writings, such as Ihya Ulum al-Din, combined with current educational theories and empirical studies. An interesting finding is that Al-Ghazali's framework truly encourages balanced development, with a focus on sincere intentions, humility, and social responsibility, which ultimately leads students to the level of insan kamil or whole human beings. This approach has been shown to increase student motivation, resilience, and ethics, as evidenced in Islamic schools today. In conclusion, Al-Ghazali's ideas are like a panacea for reforming education, helping us deal with issues such as secularization and digital loneliness in a more humane way.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has brought significant changes in the field of education, particularly in how teachers and students interact during the learning process. One of the positive impacts of digital technology advancement is the increasing use of digital learning media to enhance critical thinking skills among elementary school students. Critical thinking is one of the essential 21st-century skills that must be taught from an early age to enable students to analyz, evaluate, and solve problems independently. This study employs a library research method (literature review) with a qualitative approach, reviewing various scientific journals published between 2020 and 2025 through google scholar and Publish or Perish that discuss the relationship between digital media and critical thinking skills. The analysis results indicate that digital learning media such as interactive PowerPoint, instructional videos, online quizzes, Android-based educational games, and flipbooks can enhance student engagement, facilitate concept comprehension, and develop critical thinking skills. Therefore, digital learning media play an important role as effective tools to create more interactive and engaging learning experiences while supporting the optimal development of elementary students’ critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the group project learning model as a key strategy to overcome low collaboration and creativity skills in students, which are often caused by the use of conventional learning methods. Through a quantitative approach in the form of classroom action research and descriptive qualitative methods, the results of the study show that the implementation of group projects has a very significant effect on developing collaborative skills as an important competency in the 21st century. Consistent implementation of PjBL has a positive and significant effect on improving students' cooperation, communication, and creativity in completing learning projects. In addition, this model has been proven to foster independent learning, a sense of responsibility, and the ability of students to integrate theoretical knowledge into the context of real-world problem solving.

Abstract

This study aims to explore students' perceptions of Augmented Reality (AR)-based Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning in ninth grade at SMPN 1 Montong. The use of AR in learning is seen as a 21st-century educational innovation capable of improving conceptual understanding, motivation, and active student engagement. This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive analytical methods through interviews, observations, and questionnaires. The results showed that the majority of students had positive perceptions of AR use because the technology provides concrete and interactive visualizations, facilitating the understanding of abstract material. Learning becomes more engaging, collaborative, and encourages active student participation. Factors influencing student perceptions include the ease of use of the application, the role of teachers in mentoring, the quality of the devices, and the readiness of the learning environment. Obstacles identified were related to technical difficulties for a small number of students. Overall, AR is considered to have significant potential in improving the effectiveness of PAI learning and can be a relevant alternative learning medium in the digital age.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Indonesian government’s policies to improve education quality and their implications for the advancement of Islamic education. Over the past two decades, education quality has become a central issue in the national education system, especially following the implementation of various policies such as the National Education Standards (SNP), the Education Quality Assurance System (SPMP), teacher certification, professional education programs (PPG), and the Merdeka Belajar–Kampus Merdeka initiative. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method using a library research approach through the analysis of legal documents, ministerial reports, books, and scholarly journals published between 2019 and 2025. The findings indicate that government policies to improve education quality have significantly contributed to strengthening Islamic education systems in both public and religious schools. Curriculum reform, teacher professionalism, and the digitalization of madrasahs have become key drivers in Islamic education development. However, implementation challenges persist, including regional quality disparities, limited human resources, and uneven institutional capacity. Therefore, synergy between the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Religious Affairs is essential to establish an integrated quality assurance system consistent with Islamic values.

Abstract

This study discusses strategies for strengthening the values of Ahlussunnah wal Jama’ah (Aswaja) An-Nahdliyah through the Istighosah religious activity program at SMA Manba’il Huda Jenu in the 2024/2025 academic year. The background of this research is based on the increasing challenges of radicalism and extreme religious understanding among the younger generation, which requires systematic efforts to instill moderate, tolerant Islamic values rooted in Aswaja principles. This study employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach using observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. The findings reveal that the Istighosah program plays a significant role in strengthening Aswaja An-Nahdliyah values, including tawassuth (moderation), tasamuh (tolerance), tawazun (balance), and i’tidal (justice). Through the habituation of religious activities, students not only enhance their spirituality but also develop strong religious character, nationalism, and resilience against radical ideologies. Therefore, the Istighosah program is an effective strategy for internalizing Aswaja An-Nahdliyah values within the educational environment.

Learning motivation is a crucial factor influencing the success of the learning process, and teachers play a strategic role in fostering and maintaining students’ motivation. The method used in this study is a literature review by analyzing various relevant academic sources, including books, journal articles, and previous research related to learning motivation and teacher roles. The findings indicate that students’ learning motivation is influenced by several key aspects, namely teachers’ emotional support, the implementation of innovative and engaging teaching methods, adaptation to students’ learning styles and needs, strengthening social relationships in the classroom, and providing constructive feedback. In addition, this review identifies challenges faced by teachers, such as limited resources and diverse student characteristics. Therefore, teachers are required to be adaptive, creative, and reflective in designing learning activities. Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of the contextual teaching approach in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at SMP Khairunnas Tuban, as well as to identify the supporting factors, obstacles, and its impact on shaping students’ Islamic character and work ethics. This approach is considered essential because it connects the instructional material with students’ real-life experiences, enabling the learning process to become more relevant and meaningful. The study employs a qualitative research method with a descriptive design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and documentation review. The research subjects consisted of Islamic Religious Education teachers and eighth-grade students. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. This study provides a comprehensive illustration regarding the effectiveness of contextual teaching in fostering Islamic character among students. The findings show that the contextual approach has been implemented well, although it is not yet consistent and lacks variety in instructional methods. This approach has succeeded in improving students’ understanding of Islamic values and encouraging the application of Islamic work ethics in daily life. Supporting factors include the religious school environment and the teacher’s competence, while the obstacles arise from limited variation in teaching methods, time constraints, and insufficient contextual learning media. The study recommends the development of more creative teaching strategies and the use of more contextual media, as well as expanding the research scope to various Islamic schools to obtain more comprehensive and sustainable results.
