Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of leadership style, facilities and infrastructure, and compensation on the work environment and work motivation, with the work environment as a mediating variable. The research was conducted on 97 civil servants (ASN) of the General Bureau of West Sumatra Province using the Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) method. The object of this study was the civil servants of the General Affairs Bureau of West Sumatra Province, Indonesia. The research design encompasses all the processes required in planning and implementing the research. This study employed a descriptive and causal research design. The sample was drawn using a saturated sampling design, which included the entire population, resulting in a total of 98 individuals. The results reveal that leadership style and facilities and infrastructure have a significant effect on the work environment, while compensation does not significantly affect the work environment. Furthermore, leadership style, facilities and infrastructure, and compensation significantly affect work motivation, and the work environment also has a significant effect on work motivation. In addition, the work environment mediates the influence of leadership style and facilities and infrastructure on work motivation, but does not mediate the effect of compensation on work motivation. These findings emphasize that employee work motivation can be strengthened through effective leadership, adequate facilities and infrastructure, and a conducive work environment. Therefore, organizations need to prioritize leadership development and workplace facility improvements to sustainably enhance the motivation of civil servants. Facilities and Infrastructure significantly influence Work Motivation through the Work Environment as an intervening variable for Civil Servant Employees of the General Bureau of West Sumatra Province. Compensation does not significantly influence Work Motivation through the Work Environment as an intervening variable for Civil Servant Employees of the General Bureau of West Sumatra Province.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of audit fee, audit tenure, client firm size, and financial distress on auditor switching among property and real estate companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2019–2023 period. The research is motivated by the importance of understanding the factors that drive companies to change auditors, which may reflect managerial decision-making related to audit quality and financial credibility. A quantitative descriptive method was employed using secondary data obtained from audited annual financial reports. The sample was determined through purposive sampling, while data analysis was conducted using SPSS version 25. The findings reveal that audit fee, audit tenure, and client firm size do not have a significant effect on auditor switching. In contrast, financial distress shows a significant positive effect, indicating that companies facing financial difficulties are more likely to switch auditors as an effort to enhance the credibility of their financial statements. These results suggest that financial pressure plays a more decisive role than auditor-related attributes in influencing auditor replacement within the property and real estate sector. Overall, the study contributes to the literature on auditing and corporate governance by providing empirical evidence from emerging markets, and it offers practical insights for stakeholders regarding the dynamics of auditor–client relationships in the context of financial distress.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of leadership style, competence, and motivation on employee performance with job satisfaction as an intervening variable at the Aur Beduri Community Health Center, Nalo Tantan District, Merangin Regency, Jambi. The study uses a quantitative approach with Partial Least Square (PLS) analysis through the SmartPLS application. The object of this study is the employees of the Aur Beduri Community Health Center, Nalo Tantan District, Marangin Regency, Jambi, Indonesia. This study uses a descriptive and causal research design. The population in this study is 64 employees of the Aur Beduri Community Health Center. In this study, the sample was taken with a saturated sample design, namely the entire population being sampled, so the sample in this study was 64 people. Based on the literature review and hypothesis formulation, the variables in this study are independent, dependent, and intervening variables. Independent variables include Leadership Style, Competence, Motivation. The intervening variable in this study is Job Satisfaction. The dependent variable is also called the bound variable, namely the value of which is influenced by the independent variable, which is the dependent variable in this study is Job Satisfaction (Y). The results of the study showed that leadership style, competence, and motivation had a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction. Furthermore, job satisfaction had a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Competence and motivation were shown to have a positive and significant effect on employee performance, while leadership style did not have a significant direct effect on performance. However, job satisfaction was shown to mediate the influence of leadership style, competence, and motivation on employee performance. This finding indicates that improving leadership quality, competence, and motivation can increase job satisfaction, which in turn contributes to improved employee performance. This study provides practical implications for Community Health Center management to strengthen participatory leadership styles, improve employee competence through training, and develop appropriate motivation systems to improve the performance of health workers.

Abstract

In the context of sustainable hospitality, the empowerment of employees in embracing environmentally responsible practices is increasingly recognized as a driver of organizational performance. This study investigates the influence of Green Empowerment on Environmental Performance, with Green Innovative Work Behavior serving as a mediating factor. The research addresses the question of how empowering frontline employees can foster pro-environmental behaviors that contribute to measurable improvements in hotel sustainability outcomes. A quantitative research design was employed using a survey method, targeting a sample of 150 frontline hotel employees in Indonesia selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using WarpPLS to test the proposed structural model and relationships among variables. The analysis reveals that Green Empowerment has a significant positive effect on Green Innovative Work Behavior, which in turn significantly enhances Environmental Performance. Moreover, the mediating role of Green Innovative Work Behavior highlights the importance of fostering creativity and innovation in environmental practices to translate empowerment into tangible sustainability outcomes. The synthesis of findings suggests that hotels can strengthen their environmental performance by cultivating empowerment initiatives that encourage employees to develop and implement innovative green practices. This study concludes that frontline employee engagement through empowerment and innovative behavior is a strategic pathway for the hospitality industry to achieve sustainable performance.

Abstract

This study explores the development and implementation of the Smart-Rural Entrepreneurship model as a strategic initiative to strengthen rural economic systems through the integration of digital technologies. Rural micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) often face challenges such as limited access to markets, decision-making tools, and institutional support, which hinder their competitiveness in the digital economy. The objective of this research is to design and evaluate a context-specific model that integrates Internet of Things (IoT) technology, Business Intelligence (BI), and the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) decision-making method to enhance entrepreneurship in rural areas. The research followed four stages: identifying local potentials and needs, designing a smart entrepreneurship system, implementing and testing the system in a partner village, and evaluating and refining the system. The findings show that more than 82% of MSME actors adopted the digital promotion website after training, 76% utilized the SAW system to prioritize business strategies, and 68% benefited from the BI dashboard for real-time monitoring of sales and inventory. The integration of IoT and BI improved decision-making and reduced reliance on intuition, while the SAW method supported objective prioritization. The overall digital adoption increased from 40% to 82%, showing the effectiveness of the model in empowering rural MSMEs and promoting inclusive digital transformation.

Abstract

This qualitative study investigates the corporate e-commerce strategy implemented by Shopee through its Shopee Center program to empower Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Bangunharja Village, Indonesia. Employing a descriptive case study methodology, the research engaged 11 key informants comprising Shopee representatives, local MSME actors, and BUMDES (Village-Owned Enterprise) leadership. Data collection incorporated in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentary analysis, with subsequent examination following the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The findings demonstrate that Shopee's strategic approach effectively catalyzed initial digital adoption among rural MSMEs through multifaceted interventions: comprehensive digital literacy training, enhanced internet infrastructure via affordable WiFi partnerships, and robust collaboration with local institutions. Notably, the program facilitated product innovation and market expansion for various MSMEs, enabling traditional businesses to access digital marketplaces. However, the research identifies persistent challenges including declining participation rates over time, ongoing digital literacy gaps, and infrastructural limitations in internet connectivity. The study concludes that while corporate-led initiatives significantly advance digital inclusion, sustainable transformation necessitates continuous program adaptation, advanced skill development modules, and strengthened multi-stakeholder cooperation to address systemic barriers in rural digital ecosystems.

Abstract

Employee engagement is a critical factor influencing workforce performance and retention, particularly in education service companies dominated by Generation Z employees. Based on the company's historical turnover data, the company recorded a high turnover rate of 23% in 2022. Although this decreased significantly to 11% in 2024, it rose again to 19% in 2025, indicating persistent challenges in employee retention and signaling the need for more structured talent development strategies. This study aims to identify the key drivers of employee engagement and determine strategic priorities using Multiple Linear Regression (MLR) and Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) to identify the main focus variable. Using data from 260 employees, five engagement drivers were tested: Job Satisfaction & Meaningfulness (JSM), Leadership & Managerial Support (LMS), Team & Work Environment (TWE), Reward–Recognition & Work-Life Balance (RRWB), and Growth, Development & Enablement (GDE). MLR results reveal that GDE is the strongest predictor of employee engagement, emphasizing the importance of structured capability development for a predominantly Gen Z workforce. IPA further shows that GDE falls into Quadrant I (High Importance – Low Performance), indicating a critical performance gap requiring immediate intervention. To address this, the study proposes a Talent Development Program based on the 70:20:10 learning model, combining formal training, social learning, and on-the-job development. This framework offers a data-driven approach to enhancing employee capability, improving engagement, and mitigating turnover fluctuations, supporting Edulab’s long-term organizational sustainability.
