Abstract

This article discusses the initial concept of the formation of Islamic law according to Joseph Schacht, a German-British orientalist. Schacht argued that Islamic law was formed through the interaction of religion, culture, and politics. This study will analyze Schacht's perspective and its impact on the understanding of modern Islamic law. Furthermore, the article will also critique the weaknesses of Schacht’s approach and offer alternative perspectives for understanding the complexity of Islamic law. Schacht and his Contribution to Islamic Law: The author attempts to examine the thoughts of Joseph Schacht, which are then outlined in the research questions: What are Joseph Schacht’s ideas, and what is his contribution to Islamic law? In this study, the author employs a descriptive research method with Shari’a, historical, and philosophical approaches, using library research as the data collection method. The data collection techniques used in this research are deductive and comparative methods, while data analysis is conducted using qualitative descriptive analysis. The objective of this thesis is to explore the thoughts of Joseph Schacht, an orientalist, on Islamic law and the contribution of his ideas to Islamic law. The findings of this study show that Joseph Schacht, as an orientalist, analyzed Islamic law through historical-sociological research. In this context, Schacht attempted to address multiple aspects of Islamic law. He presented Islam not as a set of divinely revealed norms but as a historical phenomenon closely tied to its social setting, meaning he studied the authenticity of Islamic law sources through historical processes. Joseph Schacht also did not acknowledge hadith as a source of Islamic law. His research, presented in his works, became a reference for legal scholars discussing Islamic law, especially for Westerners who were not fully familiar with Islamic law. However, his rejection of hadith as a source of Islamic law had a significant impact on Islamic law. This led to considerable doubt about the strength and authenticity of Islamic law, not only among the Western world but also among Muslims themselves.

Abstract

Joseph Schacht, a leading orientalist, is known for his analysis of Islamic law using historical and sociological approaches. In his view, Islamic law is not merely a set of directly revealed norms, but the result of a proc ess of historical development that is closely related to the social dynamics of Muslim society. Through extensive research, he argues that many hadith were composed or modified to support the development of Islamic law at particular times. In his view, the peak of the formation of Islamic law occurred during the time of Imam al-Shafi'i, who succeeded in systematizing the methodological framework of Islamic law. Some scholars consider his ideas to provide new insights into the development of Islamic law, while others consider his approach to be reductionist and ignores the spiritual and theological dimensions of Islamic law. Despite the controversy, Schacht's thought remains one of the important references in modern Islamic legal studies.

Abstract

Volleyball team coaching program in Vocational High Schools (SMK) plays an important role in developing athlete skills and shaping student character. Although volleyball is one of the popular sports in Indonesia, many schools do not yet have a systematic and structured coaching program. This study aims to implement and evaluate the volleyball team coaching program at SMK Panjatek to improve students' technical skills, teamwork, and champion mentality. This program was implemented for 3 months with a training frequency of 3 times a week. The evaluation results showed a significant increase in technical skills such as passing, serving, smashing, and blocking, as well as an increase in teamwork and player mentality. This program also succeeded in improving the discipline, communication, and self-confidence of the players. Therefore, this volleyball team coaching program can be used as a model for developing volleyball teams in other schools.

Abstract

Corruption is one of the main obstacles in development that harms not only economically, but also erodes the moral values of society. Anti-corruption education at the primary school level has an important role in shaping the character of the younger generation who uphold the values of honesty, integrity and responsibility. This research aims to analyze the implementation of anti-corruption education policies in primary schools through a literature study approach. Policies such as Law No. 19/2019 on KPK, South Kalimantan Governor Regulation No. 069/2020, and Banjarbaru Mayor Regulation No. 10/2020 are the main basis for the integration of anti-corruption education into the curriculum. The results show that strategic measures such as integrating anti-corruption materials in subjects, using interactive teaching methods, and cooperation between teachers and parents are effective in instilling anti-corruption values in students. Creative approaches, such as educational games, inspirational stories, and extracurricular activities, are able to motivate students to understand the adverse effects of corruption and foster ethical commitment. With well-planned and collaborative anti-corruption education, it is hoped that a generation with high integrity, able to fight corruption, and contribute to a just and transparent society will be formed.
